Zhong Wumei carried Lin Luojing back to the mansion, but she insisted he put her down, as people were watching. Zhong Wumei declared that he was simply cuddling his consort and didn't care who saw, even offering to dismiss everyone. Lin Luojing, calling him a savage, firmly told him to let her go.

When he asked for her forgiveness, recounting his recent suffering, she stated that it wouldn't be simple, emphasizing her dignity as a young woman with principles, and that her decision to forgive him depended on his performance. She told him to "think it over" (let this big pig trotters think it over). As Lin Luojing opened her room door, two maids who had been eavesdropping outside stumbled in, each offering a different, clearly false, excuse for being there.

Lin Luojing took them away, leaving Zhong Wumei alone and frustrated. Observing the scene, Zhang Ji commented, "torturing your wife is fun for a while, but chasing her back is a crematorium," a sentiment he had heard Xi Que mention before. Zhong Wumei attempted to win Lin Luojing back by reciting a poem she had once used to try and restore his memory.

Lin Luojing, amused by his efforts, sent a maid (Xi Que) to tell him that he was "too noisy" and "disturbed her beauty sleep." Undeterred, Zhong Wumei entered her room, with Zhang Ji holding back Xi Que from intervening. He affectionately called Lin Luojing "My dear consort," but she rejected the title, explaining he had used it for others.

Thinking for a moment, he then called her "Stupid woman," believing she would appreciate it as he proclaimed her his "own stupid woman." However, Lin Luojing reacted angrily, calling him a "moron" and a "straightforward, boring guy," and listing many other affectionate terms he could have chosen instead, such as "baby" or "darling." She then angrily sent him out of the room. Drowning his sorrows in wine, Zhong Wumei wondered if Lin Luojing would ever forgive him.

Zhang Ji suggested he seek advice from Jiang Xuanyu, believing he could easily solve such a difficult problem. The next day, Lin Luojing went shopping for clothes with Tang Meng and Xi Que at Thirteen Yu. When Lin Luojing asked Tang Meng which outfit looked best, Zhong Wumei, hidden nearby, declared he would buy everything Lin Luojing liked. Annoyed by his presence, Lin Luojing quickly pulled Tang Meng away to another shop.

Zhong Wumei then sought Jiang Xuanyu’s counsel, who advised him that matters of the heart couldn't be solved by logic but required "Action," which "can't be expressed in words." Inspired by Jiang Xuanyu’s advice and after secretly asking Xi Que about Lin Luojing's preferences ("strange and varied types"), Zhong Wumei resorted to various role-playing tactics. He tried several outfits, asking Lin Luojing if she liked them, but she remained unimpressed.

Finally, he appeared in a dramatic costume, asking her to "love me." Startled, Lin Luojing, who found him to be acting like a "pervert" or "schizophrenic," declared she would forgive him if he stopped scaring her. Zhong Wumei was overjoyed, but Lin Luojing quickly clarified that she preferred him to act normal. Zhong Wumei then expressed his deep fear of losing her if she continued to reject him, assuring her he would change and no longer be overbearing or jealous.

He then playfully announced that she couldn’t escape him this time, claiming he was simply returning her own tricks. He reminded her of a time when she had snuck into his room and bed, and now he was helping her remember that she still owed him a wedding night. Lin Luojing playfully called him a savage, a term he enjoyed hearing from her. The two consummated their marriage. The following morning, Lin Luojing lay shyly in Zhong Wumei’s arms.

When a maid (conveying a query from the nannies to Xi Que) asked if they should begin preparing clothes for a little prince, Zhong Wumei dismissed it as nonsense, insisting they should also prepare clothes for a little princess. Lin Luojing told him to be serious. Later, while Zhong Wumei was at the Palace, Lin Luojing confided in Xi Que about her relief. She had been pretending to be asleep and sick for days, finding it exhausting to act.

Xi Que assured her that it was only because she was so important to Zhong Wumei. Lin Luojing then recounted the day Wen Ru Yu came to say goodbye. Wen Ru Yu had presented a pill, claiming it was a poison from Bei Yu that would cause seven days and nights of unbearable itching, and demanded Lin Luojing eat it as a "debt collection."

If Lin Luojing complied, Wen Ru Yu would "let them go" and Bei Yu would honor its covenant with Sheng Jing, after which Wen Ru Yu would leave Sheng Jing, with all past grievances "let bygones be bygones." If Lin Luojing refused, she warned that her own hatred would be hard to quell, her royal father would not spare Zhong Wumei, and Bei Yu would declare war on Sheng Jing.

Lin Luojing, without hesitation, swallowed the pill, declaring that since she had chosen to stay and face everything with Zhong Wumei, she would do whatever it took to save the situation. Wen Ru Yu, impressed by her bravery, confessed that it was not poison but a "ten-full great tonic pill," and she had come to say goodbye before returning to Bei Yu.

Wen Ru Yu admitted that she had misjudged Lin Luojing, initially believing she had "seduced" Zhong Wumei with "fox-like charm." However, Lin Luojing's unwavering loyalty and love for Zhong Wumei, especially when he was poisoned, made her realize that true love means "fulfilling" and "letting him go," and not possessing him. She vowed that if Lin Luojing ever faltered in her determination, she would return to reclaim Zhong Wumei.

Lin Luojing and Xi Que reflected that Wen Ru Yu was a sentimental person who had been manipulated by Lin Luojing's fake father and her own jealousy, concluding that "fate plays tricks on people." Shortly after, Lin Luojing showed unusual symptoms, eating excessively and experiencing lethargy and dry heaving. Xi Que excitedly suspected she was pregnant and rushed to call an imperial doctor. Lin Luojing quickly stopped her, revealing that her period had just arrived the day before.

She expressed her fear of childbirth, describing it as "twelve levels of labor pain" and "taking a trip to hell's gate." Terrified by the idea of giving birth, especially within the system, Lin Luojing immediately decided to implement a "defensive husband plan" to "create opportunities to be out of the house as often as possible." Following her plan, Lin Luojing went shopping and encountered Liu Xiuwen, who was looking at paper kites.

He approached her, assuring her he was not a "beast" and she didn't need to be so defensive. Lin Luojing asked if his "tribal matters" had been resolved, and he nodded. Liu Xiuwen presented her with a paper kite as a "gift from a friend," clarifying that from now on, their relationship would be "just friends" and an "honest gentlemen's friendship," and he would no longer interfere with her and Zhong Wumei.

He explained that "romantic love is too luxurious" for him now, as his priority was the people of Qi Yu. Lin Luojing was delighted with the paper kite. Liu Xiuwen then questioned why Yuan Zheng Mansion, despite its grandeur, didn't seem to possess legendary "exotic treasures" like "blue coral" or "Akhal-teke horses," which he had heard rumors about.

Lin Luojing was surprised, stating she had never seen such items in the mansion, and the most valuable possession was likely Zhong Wumei's mother's "magnificent dress." She added that Zhong Wumei himself "prefers old things to expensive ones." Liu Xiuwen remarked that Prince Yuan Zheng must be someone who "values affection and righteousness a lot" (is so nostalgic, implying he values affection and righteousness).

Noticing the increasing number of Qi Yu shops, Lin Luojing asked Liu Xiuwen if he had opened another one. He shared the good news that he had recently spoken with the Emperor of Sheng Jing, who agreed to open up more official roads and permit Qi Yu merchants to operate a small business in the city. Lin Luojing congratulated him, understanding why Sheng Jing had become so bustling with Qi Yu establishments.

However, Liu Xiuwen admitted that Qi Yu merchants were still considered "outsiders" and "can't join the Sheng Jing Chamber of Commerce," leading to them "getting excluded." As he had matters to attend to, Liu Xiuwen bid farewell, suggesting they meet another day. After Liu Xiuwen left, Lin Luojing decided to buy the popular Qi Yu rice, which was a "hot seller".

She navigated through a crowded market to get her rice, but as she handed it to the vendor, a group of people suddenly began smashing the stall. They angrily told the vendor to "get lost," stating that it was the "unanimous decision of the Sheng Jing Chamber of Commerce" to prevent Qi Yu rice from being sold there. Lin Luojing, whose rice was also destroyed, looked up and saw Jiang Xuanyu among the group.
