After finding the connection point between the East and West Palaces, Wu Xie's group proceeded through it, arriving in a palace that appeared identical to the Cool Hall. Wu Xie explained that the underground palace was designed with symmetrical opposition, confirming they were now in the West Palace, a mirror image of the East.

He noted that the box in this "Cool Hall" was untouched, unlike the one in the East Palace which had been opened, and the entrance was in a completely opposite location, solidifying his theory. Consulting a newly found map, Wu Xie identified a small, central room connecting both sides as the main hall—the core of the entire underground palace and their only route back to the East Palace.

Master Ma, convinced his desired gemstone was there, urged them to press on. During this, Su Nan provocatively questioned Wu Xie about Li Cu having "something on his back," to which Li Cu nervously attributed to a mental episode. Wu Xie jokingly blamed Su Nan for "infecting" Li Cu, and Su Nan warned them to be more careful not to expose their act. The group soon reached a chasm, with a bright but perilous path leading to a sheer drop.

Wu Xie surmised the main hall lay below, filled with complex traps. He decided to scout ahead with Li Cu, strictly ordering everyone else to await his signal. As they rappelled down a wall littered with skeletal remains, mostly animal but some human, Li Cu began to see visions of Caitou, who had recently died. Overwhelmed by fear, he lost his grip on the rope and fell, passing out upon landing.

Discovering a floor covered in more corpses, Wu Xie realized it was a trap and yelled up to warn the others not to descend. However, Su Nan and the rest of the group, led by Master Ma who was consumed by his desire for the gemstone, ignored the warnings and descended into the abyss. Confronted by Wu Xie, Master Ma brushed off the danger and demanded his gemstone.

Later, as Li Cu recovered, Wu Xie comforted him, explaining that his visions of Caitou were hallucinations induced by claustrophobia, a common reaction under such intense pressure. Wu Xie shared his own past struggles with fear in underground explorations, revealing how the thought of his two trusted friends—one referred to as "the fat guy" and the other who had returned home—always helped him overcome it, and suggested Li Cu could think of him when scared.

Meanwhile, after escaping the Crescent Hotel, Su Wan met Liang Wan, who was devastated to learn that Li Cu had been flayed. Liang Wan, distraught and feeling responsible, implored Su Wan to never return to that dangerous place, fearing more lives would be lost. Unbeknownst to them, Master Zhang watched from above, convinced Liang Wan held vital clues.

That night, Su Wan performed a mournful ritual for Li Cu, burning joss paper and a stolen piece of "face skin" to ensure Li Cu's peace in the afterlife, while Yang Hao added paper effigies of luxury cars and beauties, much to the amusement of hidden observers. Their solemn act was cut short when Zheng Yi's henchmen attacked them, mistaking the offerings as a curse on their boss.

Su Wan and Yang Hao fled, pursued by Zheng Yi's men and other unidentified figures in black. On the surface, Wang Meng, whose designated time to leave for help had arrived, was interrupted by Lao Mai and two of his men attempting to assault three young women from the film crew, including Guozi. Wang Meng, unable to abandon them, returned and confronted Lao Mai.

Their standoff was abruptly interrupted as the ground beneath them shifted, creating a square hole—a mechanism inadvertently triggered by Master Ma inside the underground palace. Within the main hall, Wu Xie noticed signs that the stone statues had been moved. Li Cu, recalling the eye-switch mechanism from Huang Yan's iron box, pressed an eye-like switch on the wall, causing them all to move forward.

They discovered fragments of a larger pattern carved on the back of each statue, which they recognized as the complete design tattooed on Li Cu's back. Wu Xie explained that Huang Yan had copied these seven patterns before destroying the originals. Suddenly, the statues began to spew sand, and an Ouroboros symbol, representing the cycle of death and immortality, rotated.

The central floor sank, revealing a coffin containing the remains of what appeared to be an "Eight hands and eight feet" monster, which Wu Xie identified as conjoined twins, dismissing the legend as an exaggeration. Su Nan found a hidden space beneath the remains, and using principles of geomancy, Wu Xie deduced the exit was located at the head. Su Nan then spotted a gemstone, sending Master Ma into a frenzy.

Wu Xie warned him against taking it, identifying it as a trap that would endanger them all. Master Ma feigned compliance, but as they prepared to descend further, he furtively snatched the gemstone. It instantly disintegrated into dust, triggering a new mechanism that pinned the group to the wall. One by one, they were pulled downwards, until Wu Xie and Master Ma both fell into the depths below.

The newly formed hole on the ground allowed Su Nan and the remaining group to escape to the surface, leaving Lao Mai to contend with Wang Meng. Trapped below, Master Ma fell into despair, lamenting their seemingly inevitable demise. Wu Xie, however, searched for an escape and discovered a hollow wall, just as the chamber was shaken by an explosion from one of Su Nan's bombs. On the surface, Master Ma's wife frantically questioned Su Nan about her husband's whereabouts.

Su Nan informed her that he was "down there" and, under pressure, revealed they had only ten minutes before it was too late. Believing it was the only way to save them, Su Nan prepared more explosives to completely collapse the underground palace. Wang Meng vehemently protested, warning of the extreme danger and the need for precise calculations, but Su Nan disregarded his concerns, asserting that the palace would sink anyway and this was their last resort. She grimly announced that Master Ma now had only five minutes, his survival dependent purely on luck.
