During the black lesson, Li Cu chose a stranger as his partner, despite Shen Qiong's earlier request for him to pick her. The instructor explained that the test results would be official: winners would stay, and losers would be eliminated. As the competition began, two other participants quickly secured two badges. Li Cu then handed the last badge to Shen Qiong before moving to challenge Shen Qiong's teammate. Shen Qiong's attempt to intervene was blocked by Li Cu's partner.

Despite his initial weakness, Li Cu, having learned much from Wu Xie and Master Black, skillfully snatched a badge. He then restrained his partner from attacking Shen Qiong. When the countdown ended, Shen Qiong's teammate was eliminated and taken away. After the test, Shen Qiong asked Li Cu why he hadn't chosen her, probing if he understood the gravity of the eliminations.

She questioned if his actions were driven by affection, which Li Cu implied by asking, "Do you like me?" Shen Qiong promptly denied it, telling him, "I won't fall in love with you before we can share the same ideal." She apologized for calling him "Pear" and added a stark instruction: "If something bad happens, you can choose not to save me."

Their conversation was abruptly cut short by a Clan Wang member who dismissed their "romance," reminding them that "The black lessons are not over yet." Suddenly, Shen Qiong was seized by Clan Wang members. Another member informed Li Cu that he had entered the second phase of the black lessons and that Shen Qiong would be safe only if he cooperated.

Clan Wang had recovered snake ore from GuTongJing, believing it contained Wang Zanghai's memories, including the crucial final step of a plan Wang Zanghai devised to fight Clan Zhang. They needed Li Cu to extract these memories, as the snake ore contained too many pheromones for them to differentiate. Li Cu demanded Shen Qiong's release, but he was told he had no choice.

He was given only thirty minutes to read Wang Zanghai's memory, or Shen Qiong's life would be forfeit. After being given the snake poison fluid to inhale, Li Cu began to experience visions, suffering greatly as tube after tube of pheromones failed to yield useful information. Finally, in the last dose of snake poison fluid, Li Cu saw a memory, but it was not Wang Zanghai's.

Instead, it was Wu Xie, who explained that the markings on Li Cu's back, supposedly indicating Wang Zanghai's memory points, were actually his own doing—a trap designed to lead Li Cu into Clan Wang. Wu Xie congratulated Li Cu on successfully infiltrating Clan Wang, signifying half the success of his overall plan.

Wu Xie revealed that the true memory of Wang Zanghai was buried under a tree in Clan Chen's territory, sternly warning Li Cu never to disclose this location to Clan Wang, as it was his only leverage for survival. He also warned that Clan Wang's Algorithm Department could detect any lie Li Cu told, so Li Cu should tell them all the fake information Wu Xie had planted to gain their trust.

Upon waking, Li Cu boldly declared that everything was Wu Xie's design, that there was no memory of Wang Zanghai in the snake ore, and that Wu Xie had visited the snake mine long ago. Connected to a lie detector, his words were verified, much to Clan Wang's surprise. Li Cu, confident, challenged them to check the lie detector if they doubted him.

He then negotiated for Shen Qiong's freedom, stating that he knew where Wang Zanghai's memory was but would only reveal it after Shen Qiong was released. Clan Wang, convinced by the lie detector, agreed, freeing Shen Qiong but keeping Li Cu under strict guard until his claims could be verified.

Before Li Cu began guiding them, he secretly listened to a recorded message from Wu Xie on his phone, which reminded him that his true mission in Clan Wang was to locate their Algorithm Department and send its coordinates back to Wu Xie using a special method. Clan Wang dispatched teams to Clan Chen's territory, where they discovered an underground palace. With equipment prepared, Li Cu remotely guided the expedition.

As the underground signals were poor, Clan Wang deployed repeaters at every turn to maintain communication. Li Cu meticulously directed them, starting from a Tusi statue, specifying directions, distances, and turns through various tunnels. He warned them that a single wrong step would trigger deadly mechanisms, leading to irreversible doom, and that they would encounter a fishhook trap with a hidden iron ring to deactivate it, sarcastically adding, "You guys are so skillful. Suppose you can do it."

Meanwhile, Master Black continued Su Wan's unconventional training, combining theory with practice. One evening, in a hotel, Su Wan was made to solve complex equations until he reached his limit. Seeing his frustration, Master Black suggested a game of golf, not the traditional kind, but with a simple stick for a golf club and a tea bag for a ball. Su Wan, initially confident, failed repeatedly.

Master Black then urged him to apply the mathematical functions he had just been studying to his swing. With this insight, Su Wan struck the tea bag perfectly. Master Black immediately moved on to the next lesson: bartending, which, to Su Wan's dismay, first required studying the chemistry of alcohol fermentation. Master Black wisely told him, "Learn maths, physics and chemicals well, and you will be unconquerable." Separately, Yang Hao continued down a path of increasing aggression.

He and his crew brazenly pillaged various establishments, including those affiliated with the Huo and Li families. During one such raid, a manager desperately pleaded with Yang Hao not to take a treasured vase, explaining its sentimental value due to a connection with Boss Huo. Yang Hao, admiring the vase, mockingly agreed to "leave it all" to the manager, before quickly ordering his men to hurry to the next store, demonstrating his growing ruthlessness.

In the snow-bound temple, Wu Xie and Su Nan discussed their precarious situation. Su Nan, despite her past threats, seemed to care for Wu Xie's survival, suggesting they avoid talking about killing or death. She recounted the lama's warning that more snow could trap them for months and proposed making a wish in the temple for an earlier departure. Wu Xie declined, claiming he didn't know how to make wishes.

Su Nan, asserting Clan Wang's control over destiny, was challenged by Wu Xie to make it snow if she was so powerful, highlighting the futility of such claims. She then revealed a tragic past, where she survived Clan Wang's harsh training at the cost of many companions' lives.

Su Nan proposed a way for both of them to survive: Wu Xie joining Clan Wang, offering to be his referrer on the condition he disclose his current plan and dedicate himself entirely to Clan Wang. Wu Xie, with a wry smile, responded that his plan had no "off switch" and could not be stopped by anyone, including himself. He acknowledged he held no personal prejudice against Clan Wang but was born to be their adversary.

Later, Su Nan led him into a room within the temple, asking him to remove his clothes for a "great worship" ritual, explaining it was to prevent them from getting dirty. Wu Xie, momentarily flustered, complied. Despite their opposing affiliations, the shared ordeal in the snow mountain had visibly deepened their bond.
