Tomb of the Sea Episode 19 Recap
> Tomb of the Sea Recap
Wu Xie, though still affected by the poison, managed to retain a flicker of consciousness. He instructed his companions to tie him and Wang Meng up for their safety. The only hope for their recovery, as they learned from a tape recording, was a serum taken by a scientist. They had to take their chances to find if the scientist, and the serum, were still within the facility.
Master Black and Li Cu set off to find the serum, with Li Cu taking Wu Xie's knife. They soon discovered a pipe system that Master Black cut open, allowing them to climb inside. As they ascended, they noticed many snake sloughs and distinctive four-fingered handprints. Li Cu lost his footing on a snake slough, but Master Black skillfully caught him with a rope, preventing a dangerous fall.
Once Li Cu was pulled up, he recalled seeing a person with slim, long fingers who had one finger shot off by a gun identical to the one Master Black carried. Master Black confirmed it was Uncle Buddha's gun and speculated this person might be the same individual. They continued their ascent and eventually reached an exit. Looking out, they saw a tall iron structure with numerous Black Flyers crawling on the ground below.
Instead of descending, Master Black calmly suggested they eat some fried rice with pork and green pepper, advising Li Cu to conserve energy for their primary goal: finding the serum. As they ate, the four-fingered mutated man flew past them. Master Black handed Li Cu a gun, telling him to protect himself. Soon, the mutated man engaged Master Black in a fierce fight on the iron frame. Attracted by the commotion, the Black Flyers below began to climb up.
Li Cu, wanting to cover Master Black, also jumped onto the frame to fend off the Black Flyers. When Master Black was cornered, Li Cu fired a shot at the mutated man, dropping his gun in the process. The mutated man paused, recognizing the gun as Uncle Buddha's, and muttered the name.
He then confirmed to them that he possessed the serum and that it was effective, responding to their questions with nods and shakes since he had lost the ability to speak. Li Cu was hesitant to retrieve the serum, fearing the mutated man might attack him. Master Black, however, insisted.
After Li Cu retrieved the boxed serum, the mutated man uttered, "Return it to Uncle Buddha," and then tragically leapt from the iron frame to his death, seemingly having made his peace with Uncle Buddha and realizing he would never escape. The Black Flyers below immediately swarmed and devoured his body. Master Black urged Li Cu that it was time for them to leave as well.
Upon their return, Wu Xie and Wang Meng were deeply poisoned and had visibly mutated. Li Cu quickly opened the serum box, only to find a single dose. Master Black stated there was no time to find another in the iron building and urged Li Cu to save at least one of them. As Li Cu wavered, Wu Xie swiftly snatched the serum and injected it into Wang Meng's neck. Wang Meng soon recovered, spitting out some blood.
When Wu Xie grabbed the serum, he left blood marks on Li Cu's hand, causing Li Cu to immediately faint. In his unconscious state, Li Cu had another vision, this time seeing Shen Qiong reporting experimental data in Uncle Buddha's office. Upon waking, Li Cu recounted this vision to Master Black. With his last remnants of clear thought, Wu Xie told his companions to evacuate. However, Li Cu, recalling Wu Xie's care throughout their journey, was reluctant to abandon him.
Wu Xie, his voice strained, shouted at Li Cu to "Get lost!" In a fit of anger and frustration, Li Cu retorted, "Fine! Wu Xie, thank you for accompanying me through all this experience. Find your serum yourself. Goodbye!" He then threw Wu Xie's knife away and turned to leave. Master Black provided Li Cu with a bag containing food, survival supplies, and Tianxin stone's powder to deter monsters.
He also gave him a phone, instructing him to call "them" once he returned. Li Cu departed without a backward glance. Meanwhile, after discovering her voice in a previous recording, Shen Qiong sought out Su Wan. Su Wan was overjoyed to see her. Shen Qiong expressed interest in Li Cu's numerous packages. The first one opened contained ordinary items, but the second revealed a work ID, causing Shen Qiong to react with fear, though Su Wan failed to notice.
While Su Wan went to fetch water, Shen Qiong quickly hid the work ID and produced a dagger from her bag, intending to attack Su Wan. However, just as she approached him, Zhang Rishan's figure appeared outside the window. Shen Qiong vanished, and Zhang Rishan was later seen leaving with a large suitcase. Despite his lingering suspicions about Liang Wan, Zhang Rishan wished to spend more time with her.
He took her to an antique shop, offering to buy her a piece of jewelry. Liang Wan was drawn to a ring, but the shop owner advised against it, explaining it was "from a tomb" and "infiltrated by blood," and potentially harmful to a living person. Zhang Rishan, complimenting her hands, suggested a watch instead, as it would "bring out her beauty more." Liang Wan initially felt disappointed, as she was told she could choose.
However, her mood brightened considerably when the owner revealed that the watch was one of a pair, with the other belonging to Zhang Rishan, making them a unique set. She immediately put it on. Separately, Xie Yuchen purchased a theater. He instructed the previous owner to leave the old artifacts untouched and to dismiss the staff, stating he wished to explore the theater alone.
The owner mused on the transient nature of human existence compared to the enduring house and its stone. Shen Qiong's actions and appearance further fueled suspicions about her identity, suggesting she might be the same Shen Qiong from seventy years prior, and that she also knew Zhang Rishan. This raised questions about a past event seventy years ago that allowed both of them to maintain their appearance and live into the present.
