The train slowly pulled away, with Chen Maidong and Zhuang Jie going their separate ways, leaving behind a trace of impulsive emotion that lingered in memory. Coincidentally, a fellow townsman from Nanping Town on the same train casually took photos and videos and shared them in a group chat. Within just half a day, the whole town knew. Everyone began looking at Chen Maidong with a mix of gossip and blessings, leaving him completely baffled.

As soon as Zhuang Jie returned to her shared apartment, she received a message from Uncle He, but was puzzled by its vague wording—until Wang Xixia revealed the matter of the photo at the train station, and only then did she realize what had happened. Although Zhuang Jie admitted that she had always liked Chen Maidong, she loved the city of Shanghai even more. Meanwhile, Chen Maidong had decided to stay in Nanping Town.

The two couldn’t bridge the gap of distance. As Wang Xixia put it, one person cannot match an entire city—rational people are destined to miss out on emotional love. After her talk with Wang Xixia, it was already late at night. Zhuang Jie thought it over and decided to send a WeChat message to Chen Maidong. They found Chen Maidong very attractive and kept asking to meet him. After that, Chen Maidong and Zhuang Jie returned to their respective cities, repeating their daily routines. Chen Maidong’s blind dates never progressed, much to Granny Chen’s dissatisfaction.

However, while Zhuang Jie was in the middle of negotiating a hospital procurement contract, she suddenly received a call from her younger sister, informing her of the tragic news that He Zhangyue had died unexpectedly. Because of the unique condition of He Zhangyue’s remains, he was transferred directly from the city hospital to the funeral home. Chen Maidong briefly inquired about the situation and, upon seeing the devastated Liao Tao, felt a storm of emotions welling up inside.
