Early in the morning, Zhuang Jie opened her eyes and saw a man's hand, which startled her into quickly turning around—only to realize it was Chen Maidong lying beside her. She instantly breathed a sigh of relief and snuggled into his arms, savoring the sweetness of love. Because Zhuang Jie hadn’t come home the night before, Liao Tao was furious and took it out on Zhuang Yan.

Their younger sister He Niaoniao hurriedly messaged Zhuang Jie to warn her and told her to come home quickly and take responsibility for her actions. There had never been a curfew in the Liao household, but ever since Chen Maidong appeared, Liao Tao suddenly set this rule. Zhuang Jie had no choice but to quickly ask Wang Xixia to go to the shop first to help calm Liao Tao down.

Meanwhile, Chen Maidong decided to take Zhuang Jie back himself, personally helping her put on her prosthetic leg. He said he might be clumsy at first but would become more skillful over time. Zhuang Jie quietly reminded Liao Tao to be nicer, since after all, he was her future son-in-law.

However, during the conversation that followed, Chen Maidong’s thoughtfulness and maturity made Liao Tao like him more and more. When she received a gift from him, she couldn’t stop smiling. That night, the whole family celebrated Zhuang Jie’s birthday. But during the celebration, Chen Maidong suddenly received a call from the funeral home and had to rush back to work. The next morning, the neighbors gossiped that a funeral procession had been hit by a large truck, killing many people.

The funeral home was now overwhelmed. Zhuang Jie wanted to go, but Zhuang Yan went in her place to assess the situation and offered to stay and help out at the funeral home. Chen Maidong told him to contact them again if volunteers were needed. For the entire day, Chen Maidong worked non-stop, utterly exhausted. The tragic scene of the accident haunted him mentally. Through this incident, he developed a sudden fear of death.

He had always been a carefree person, but ever since starting his relationship with Zhuang Jie, he had become more emotionally sensitive. That night, Chen Maidong dreamed of meeting a little girl holding flowers in a hospital. When he walked into the room, the flowers on the cabinet were already withered, and Zhuang Jie was sitting beside them, smiling at him.

Just then, a call from Zhuang Jie woke him up—she came to the new apartment with a bouquet to spend Valentine's Day with him. Chen Maidong had also repaired the clay figurine and gave it to her. On the way back, Zhuang Jie couldn’t resist opening the gift. Seeing the reconstructed clay figurine filled her with complex emotions. She immediately turned around, pulled Chen Maidong back into the room, and the two finally consummated their relationship. The next morning, Zhuang Jie stood on the balcony wrapped in a coat, gazing into the distant morning light.
