Pan Qianqian approached Yiyuan, wanting to understand the story of Ling Xuanxuan, believing Ling Yushi was suffering from deep grief over her sister’s absence. Pan Qianqian shared her intention to alleviate Yushi’s pain by pretending to be her sister, seeing no harm in gaining an elder sister. Touched by Pan Qianqian’s sincerity, Ling Yushi suggested a plan.
Yiyuan was to fabricate a history where he and Pan Qianqian were lovers who, while traveling the Scarlet Tide Continent, arrived in Ling Borough, befriended Ling Yushi and Qin Lie, and Pan Qianqian then recognized Ling Yushi as her sister. This fabricated story would explain Pan Qianqian’s subsequent memory loss, claiming her emotions were devoured by a Love Eater during a beast attack on Ling Borough.
Yiyuan recounted this story to Pan Qianqian, describing how they fell in love, journeyed to Ling Borough, and met Ling Yushi, who, deeply missing her own sister, embraced Pan Qianqian as a sibling. He vividly described the attack by the Love Eater, a beast from the far north that preys on profound emotions, leading to their separation and memory loss.
Pan Qianqian, hearing this, felt a profound connection, believing this shared past was the reason for her persistent feelings for Yiyuan. Convinced by the tale, she embraced Yiyuan, and they coordinated their story. When they presented their "reunion" to Ling Yushi, Pan Qianqian tearfully apologized for forgetting her sister, while Yiyushi reassured her, saying a sister never needs to apologize.
Pan Qianqian vowed to acknowledge Yushi as her sister again and again, no matter how many times she might forget, promising they would always find each other. Privately, Pan Qianqian and Yiyuan admitted their deep emotional connection during the act, with Pan Qianqian expressing that in that moment, she truly felt Ling Yushi was her sister and she would do anything for her. Meanwhile, Du Shaoyang was deeply concerned about Xie Jingxuan, who remained unconscious.
Song Tingyu offered to care for her. At that moment, Night Fairy appeared and forcefully merged with Song Tingyu's consciousness, absorbing all her past experiences and memories. Night Fairy then revealed that Song Tingyu's spirit essence had become one with hers, declaring that from now on, Song Tingyu’s identity was no more, and her body was now inhabited by Night Fairy, dedicated to protecting Gong Mulie. Later, Qin Lie sought out Du Shaoyang for a drink and a candid conversation.
Looking at the moon, they reminisced about their paths—Qin Lie’s ambition to reach higher realms, a dream Du Shaoyang shared from their first meeting at the Ling Borough’s Moon Festival. They acknowledged their different initial loyalties but noted how fate had brought them together through various life-and-death encounters. Qin Lie confessed his admiration for Du Shaoyang’s strength, asserting that he never needed a chance from anyone, and that they could only overcome darkness by working together.
Du Shaoyang admitted he had once envied Qin Lie's unburdened life as a "novice." Their heartfelt discussion allowed them to finally resolve their deep-seated animosity, forging a renewed resolve to unite against the coming darkness. Shortly after, Chu Li joined them, playfully complaining about being excluded and making light of Qin Lie's popularity with women, while lamenting his own lack of romantic success despite his wealth and power. He also mentioned his failed attempt to extract information from Duan Qianjie.
As Du Shaoyang retired for the night, he encountered Night Fairy (in Song Tingyu’s body). Night Fairy tried to sow discord, highlighting Qin Lie's rapid rise and connections with major sects since arriving in the Land of Chaos. She asked if Du Shaoyang felt bitter seeing his "father's murderer" now superior to him, accusing him of letting go of grudges too easily after a mere drink.
Night Fairy then provocatively questioned if Du Shaoyang was now willing to call Qin Lie "Big Brother" and rely on his influence. Despite her unsettling words, Du Shaoyang couldn't discern her true intentions and dismissed her, returning to Xie Jingxuan's bedside. He found her still and frail, and his heart was heavy with fear that she might never wake. He spoke of her past lessons and his regret, pleading with her to awaken, promising to grant her any wish.
To his immense relief, Xie Jingxuan stirred, softly calling his name. She chided him, recalling his promise to grant her any wish if she awoke, then jokingly claiming that she woke up because she was angry that Qin Lie had looked down on him, and wanted to stand up for Du Shaoyang. Late that night, Night Fairy crept into Qin Lie’s room.
She watched him sleep, then subtly removed the Spirit Pillars from his ring before departing, seemingly pleased with her successful theft. The next day marked the scheduled duel between Duan Qianjie and Ling Yushi. Knowing Ling Yushi’s likely disadvantage, the group planned a discreet escape. However, they soon learned that their whereabouts had been auctioned off by the Ghost Eye Race. As the Nether Empress, Ling Yushi felt a responsibility to personally capture the three traitors.
Xie Jingxuan, now recovered, proposed a new strategy. Realizing that Duan Qianjie was impervious to seduction, she revealed a unique artifact she had obtained from the Graveyard of Gods: the Shadowless Stone, found near an ancient Sage’s remains. She offered to trade this rare Spirit Stone for the second volume of the Scripture of the Nine Hells. Duan Qianjie, however, scoffed at her, stating her body was only worth a bottle of wine and he had no need to steal.
Undeterred, Xie Jingxuan demonstrated the Shadowless Stone's true power, explaining it could stealthily pilfer any item, even from powerful masters. She used it to covertly take the second volume of the Scripture of the Nine Hells from him, even as she continued to speak, distracting him. As the duel was about to begin, Duan Qianjie discovered the theft. Meanwhile, Chu Li, having paid the inn manager double what Duan Qianjie had, arranged for their escape through a portal.
They fled the inn, believing they were safe. But Duan Qianjie pursued them relentlessly, appearing outside the city like a shadow. He then revealed his true identity as the head of the Special Investigation and Management Department, with jurisdiction over all cities near the Heavenly Calamity Continent, shifting his focus to Xie Jingxuan for stealing the Scripture. Qin Lie stepped forward to protect his companions, but to his shock, he was unable to summon his Spirit Pillars.
As Duan Qianjie prepared to attack Xie Jingxuan, Li Mu suddenly appeared, drawing his sword and attempting to halt Duan Qianjie. However, Duan Qianjie disregarded their prior acquaintance and insisted on taking Xie Jingxuan. At that moment, Ling Yushi sensed an unusual vibration from the Scripture of the Nine Hells. The Scripture ascended, displaying a recorded message.
It revealed Chongming, the current Mother of Earth and Wuchun's mother, explaining that Gong Mulie and Wuchun had been forced into slumber to save their people. To prevent them from being exploited if their memories were lost upon awakening, Chongming recorded their story in the second volume of the Scripture of the Nine Hells, setting a condition for its opening: only when Wuchun and Gong Mulie reunited, and the four spirit artifacts protecting Gong Mulie were gathered, would it unlock.
All four artifacts were now present. The recording then showed Gong Mulie in the Deserted Spirits Realm, seeking the Mother of Earth for news of his father, the War God Gong Mu Hao, through the Ghost Eye Race. The Mother of Earth directed him to Wuchun, who explained that the crimson flame was necessary to find the War God, a condition Gong Mulie readily accepted.
