Chen Shaoxun confronted Lu Wan'er in the woods, questioning her about poisoning Liu Yikang and her motive for helping Madam Sun, even accusing her of using him. Lu Wan'er tearfully denied poisoning Liu Yikang and claimed ignorance about the culprit. As they spoke, assassins from the Zhu Que Alliance appeared, threatening Lu Wan'er's life to force Chen Shaoxun to surrender. Chen Shaoxun, desperate to save her, allowed himself to be captured and was taken away to the Wang family's dungeon.

Meanwhile, Liu Yikang, now imprisoned at the Commandant of Justice, was visited by Wang Gong and the Commandant. They urged him to reveal the truth to clear his name, but Liu Yikang remained silent, insisting he would only speak to Liu Yixuan. At Prince Peng Cheng's manor, Liu Yixuan led a search for evidence. He discovered two letters written by Madam Sun.

These letters were pleas to Liu Yikang, expressing remorse but also asking him to consider their familial bond and secure a position in the central army for Liu Yixuan. Upon reading them, Liu Yixuan was overcome with rage, interpreting them as proof of Liu Yikang's callousness and matricide. He vowed to personally ensure his execution. Upon returning to the ransacked manor and learning of Chen Shaoxun's disappearance, Shen Lige felt a wave of helplessness.

Her mother and Shen Feng quickly arrived, offering comfort and reminding her that she was not alone. Bolstered by their support, Shen Lige resolved to uncover the truth. She visited San Jiu Hall and, examining the incense, detected the distinct scent of "Heart Addiction Grass," a key component of the poison used on Liu Yikang. Kong Cheng then informed her that Lu Wan'er had stayed at San Jiu Hall, leaving just before Madam Sun's birthday banquet.

Suspecting Lu Wan'er's involvement and a connection to Chen Shaoxun's disappearance, Shen Lige instructed Kong Cheng to discreetly investigate her. In the dungeon, Chen Shaoxun endured torture. Upon seeing Wang Gong, he realized that Wang Gong was the true leader of the Zhu Que Alliance and that Xu Lin had merely been his intermediary. Wang Gong then ordered his men to dispose of Chen Shaoxun with poison before leaving to resume his facade as a loyal official.

He went to Prince Jing Ling's manor, attempting to persuade Liu Yixuan to reconsider the severe charges against Liu Yikang. However, Liu Yixuan remained firm, convinced of Liu Yikang's guilt, and informed Wang Gong of his intent to ask the Emperor for an execution decree the following day, which he would personally oversee. Lu Wan'er was in deep distress, struggling with the increasing number of innocent people being drawn into the conflict.

She was torn by Wang Gong's instructions to harm Liu Yixuan, which she found herself unable to do. Shen Lige visited Lu Wan'er, subtly warning her against hurting Liu Yixuan if she harbored genuine feelings for him. She also noticed luminous powder on Lu Wan'er's clothing. Later, Shen Lige confronted Liu Yixuan, urging him to see the gravity of the situation and the potential for manipulation, but he was too consumed by anger to listen.

Following a trail of luminous powder, Shen Lige and Shen Feng tracked it to a remote forest. There, they found signs of a fierce struggle and distinctive triangular, barbed arrowheads, which Shen Lige identified as belonging to the Zhu Que Alliance. She deduced that Lu Wan'er was connected to the organization and instructed Shen Feng to prepare a team to await her orders, emphasizing the need for caution.

On the eve of the execution, Liu Yixuan visited Liu Yikang in prison. He presented the letters from their mother, casting them as irrefutable proof of Liu Yikang's treachery, and declared that from that day forward, they were no longer brothers. Later that night, Liu Yixuan sat alone in a pavilion, drinking. Lu Wan'er joined him, confessing that even with vengeance seemingly achieved, she felt no joy, only sorrow for the innocent lives entangled.

Suddenly, Zhu Que Alliance assassins attacked Liu Yixuan's manor. Liu Yixuan was shot with a poisoned arrow and collapsed, gravely wounded. The royal physician delivered grim news: without an antidote within the hour, Liu Yixuan would die. Desperate, Lu Wan'er rushed to Wang Gong's residence to demand the antidote. Meanwhile, Wang Zijin, having forgotten her True Lover's Knot, returned to her father's study.

She overheard Lu Wan'er pleading for the antidote and accusing Wang Gong of killing Madam Sun, capturing Chen Shaoxun, and now trying to kill Liu Yixuan. Shocked, Wang Zijin burst into the study, confronting her father. Before Wang Gong could react, Liu Yikang and Shen Lige, leading a large army, stormed the Wang family manor. To Wang Gong's astonishment, Liu Yixuan appeared, alive and unharmed.

It was then revealed that Liu Yikang and Liu Yixuan had never truly been at odds. The entire dramatic sequence—from Liu Yikang's poisoning and Madam Sun's apparent murder to Liu Yikang's confession, Liu Yixuan's staged fury, and the assassination attempt on Liu Yixuan—was an elaborate trap meticulously designed by the brothers to lure the true mastermind, Wang Gong, into revealing himself. Everyone, good and bad alike, had been a player in their intricate scheme.
