The Great Ruler Episode 27 Recap
> The Great Ruler Recap
Mu Chen confronted Liu Mubai, expressing his long-held belief that Mubai and Qingshan were his closest brothers. Mubai, however, dismissed Mu Chen’s sentiments as hypocrisy. He vehemently asserted his own rectitude, claiming that others were mistaken, not him. Mubai revealed that he had acquired the Sumeru Pillar and declared his intention to eliminate Mu Chen and Black Dragon, believing this would elevate him to a status equal to Evil Deity, making him unstoppable.
Mu Chen refused to let Mubai take the Sumeru Pillar, initiating a confrontation. Mubai then used the Sumeru Pillar’s power, stating that Evil Deity's Eye of Bliss could devastate White Horse City and that only he was worthy of such immense power. He also threatened Luo Li, vowing to make Mu Chen experience the pain of losing a loved one. As the battle intensified, Black Dragon suddenly appeared, observing that everyone was present, including Mubai.
He announced that it was an opportune moment to resolve all his troubles, jubilant that the Sumeru Pillar had finally returned to his grasp after ten years. He proclaimed that the revival of the Dragon Clan would commence that day, dismissing Mu Chen and his companions as mere "ants" incapable of challenging his clan's sacred relic. Unexpectedly, White Dragon emerged, challenging Black Dragon's assertion of supremacy.
Black Dragon was surprised by White Dragon's awakening after a decade, acknowledging the brevity of ten years for their kind. Despite White Dragon's power being impaired from his long sealing, he resolutely vowed to stop Black Dragon, even at the cost of his own life. Black Dragon accepted the challenge, promising to unleash the true power of the Sumeru Pillar, then attacked White Dragon with the dreaded Power of Whisper.
White Dragon pleaded with Black Dragon, urging his brother to cease his destructive path and not be deceived by Evil Deity, warning that allegiance to Evil Deity would lead the Dragon Clan to an irreversible abyss. Black Dragon, ignoring White Dragon's pleas, dismissed his warning and coldly declared that White Dragon would not live to see the Dragon Clan's revival, offering to commemorate him later.
During their confrontation, Black Dragon wounded Liu Mubai, who had attempted to covet the Sumeru Pillar, burying him under rubble. White Dragon defiantly told Black Dragon not to gloat, proclaiming that someone would eventually bring him to justice. Black Dragon scoffed, dismissing Mu Chen as a fleeting obstacle and telling White Dragon to await his end in the ruins.
Mu Chen found the severely wounded White Dragon, who informed him of his impending death due to Black Dragon’s Power of Whisper eroding his body. White Dragon insisted on transferring his spiritual power to Mu Chen to elevate his cultivation, expressing hope that his power would aid Mu Chen in stopping Black Dragon.
Mu Chen initially resisted, offering to take White Dragon back to North Sect for recovery, but White Dragon explained it was too late and urged Mu Chen not to waste his own spiritual energy. Mu Chen then accepted the power, concentrating as instructed. With his last breaths, White Dragon praised Mu Chen, confirming his trust, and solemnly entrusted him with the mission to stop Black Dragon. Mu Chen, deeply moved, vowed to fulfill the mission and personally slay Black Dragon.
After White Dragon passed away, transforming into a ball of light, Mu Chen carried it to his companions, who grieved his demise. Bai Tong expressed his belief that Liu Mubai was likely dead, buried under the rubble. Mu Chen initially insisted on searching for his former friend, unwilling to abandon his good brother, but his companions reminded him of the dire situation at North Sect and the widespread destruction in White Horse City caused by the Eye of Bliss.
Luo Li urged Mu Chen to accept Mubai’s fate as his own choice and focus on those who still needed his help. Mu Chen then honorably buried White Dragon in the East Sea, reaffirming his pledge to inherit the Dragon Clan's power, slay Black Dragon, dismantle the Eye of Bliss, and protect all living beings.
Reflecting on the disaster at White Horse City, Mu Chen acknowledged that with White Dragon gone and the Sumeru Pillar stolen, they needed a new strategy to destroy the Eye of Bliss. He proposed they immediately return to North Sect to confront Black Dragon, and Bai Tong readily offered his assistance. Meanwhile, Mo Xingtian advised Black Dragon to seize the opportunity to attack North Sect before Mu Chen’s return.
He argued that the pure spiritual power within the sect would greatly aid Black Dragon in unsealing and fully utilizing the Sumeru Pillar. Black Dragon, pleased with the suggestion, ordered his forces to assemble for an immediate assault on North Sect. He gloated over the Sumeru Pillar, envisioning it nourished by the spiritual energy of North Sect’s inhabitants and celebrating the imminent revival of the Dragon Clan. At North Sect, the students and teachers prepared for a desperate defense.
When Black Dragon’s demand for surrender was met with defiance, they collectively vowed to "live and die together." Dragon Roc activated the formidable Protection Circle, engaging Black Dragon. However, Black Dragon easily dismissed their efforts, his power augmented by the Sumeru Pillar. Cangsheng suggested a direct attack to disrupt Black Dragon, but Dragon Roc cautioned against rash actions, emphasizing that individual efforts would be futile. Dragon Roc asserted that his Protection Circle, strengthened over many years, would not fall easily.
He then systematically assigned key personnel to critical defense points: Cangsheng remained with him, Xuantong and Qian’er were dispatched to guard the library’s formation core, Sun’er and Qingshan to the cloister, and Qingling and Mu Ling to the dorms and classrooms. Dragon Roc urged everyone to unite despite their injuries, expressing concern that Black Dragon’s extraordinary power suggested he had indeed acquired the Sumeru Pillar. The Protection Circle struggled under the immense power of the Sumeru Pillar.
Black Dragon declared that all of North Sect’s inhabitants would become nourishment for his Pillar. Dragon Roc acknowledged the overwhelming power of the Sumeru Pillar, admitting that the Protection Circle was on the verge of collapsing. Mo Xingtian celebrated the breach of the barrier, and Black Dragon ordered him to lead the charge, ensuring that the plan to use North Sect's people to nourish the Sumeru Pillar was carried out.
A fierce battle erupted within the sect, causing heavy casualties among the students and teachers. Dragon Roc fought valiantly but was ultimately outmatched by Black Dragon, who taunted the defenders, calling their resistance futile and offering them the "bliss" of serving the Dragon Clan. Dragon Roc defiantly challenged Black Dragon to a fair fight, condemning him for abandoning his dragon dignity for evil, and upholding White Dragon as the true symbol of greatness.
Enraged by Dragon Roc’s words, Black Dragon intensified his attack using the Sumeru Pillar’s power, gravely injuring Dragon Roc. Realizing their desperate situation, Dragon Roc ordered a general retreat, but Mo Xingtian immediately moved to encircle them. During the chaos, Mu Chen and his group, having witnessed the massive spiritual fluctuations over North Sect, rushed back to the academy to save its teachers and students. They arrived amidst the fierce fighting, confronting Black Dragon directly.
Qian’er, concerned, asked about Liu Mubai’s absence, but Xuantong urged her to focus on the immediate priority of defending North Sect. Seeing all the key figures assembled, Black Dragon, recognizing it as the best time to conquer the academy and kill Mu Chen, ordered Mo Xingtian to launch a decisive attack, marking a critical moment for the survival of North Sect.
