Li Yanshu, still recovering from the kiss, attempted to dismiss it by suggesting Gu Chengze had been drunk. However, Gu Chengze clarified that he was completely sober and asked her to disregard his "hooligan-like action." He then pressed her about her true feelings for Gu Jinyun, stating that if she genuinely liked him, he would persuade the Chairwoman to approve their relationship. If she did not, he boldly declared his intention to pursue her.

Li Yanshu was taken aback by this revelation. At that moment, Gu Jinyun, who had grown bored with David, suddenly appeared, interrupting their conversation. Hearing Gu Chengze say he was going to pursue Li Yanshu, Gu Jinyun immediately confronted Li Yanshu for seemingly protecting Gu Chengze, then turned his anger toward Gu Chengze, accusing him of "taking my love by force."

Gu Jinyun expressed his deep hurt, recalling how much he had respected Gu Chengze as both a friend and family. He demanded Li Yanshu to explicitly state that she did not like Gu Chengze. When Li Yanshu attempted to explain, Gu Jinyun, calling Gu Chengze a hypocrite, lashed out with a punch. The two men engaged in a fierce brawl.

Li Yanshu desperately tried to stop them, but eventually, frustrated, she cried out for them to fight if they wished, and then alerted the building security. The security guards initially intervened but quickly retreated upon recognizing Gu Chengze as the owner of the building. With Gu Jinyun having left in despair, Gu Chengze knelt on the ground for a long time, a single tear rolling down his face.

Feeling distraught, Li Yanshu struggled with the noisy classical music playing in the house before retreating to her room. Gu Chengze, looking dejected and bearing visible injuries, returned. Although he initially declined Li Yanshu's offer to treat his wounds, he eventually asked her to move back in to help him bandage them. Meanwhile, Gu Jinyun wandered the streets, lost in thought.

He reminisced about his complicated history with Li Yanshu—their joyous past, their separation, and her consistent rejections since their reunion. He recalled a past moment where she refused his offer of money, finding it tiring to pretend to love him. In his mind, she told him their relationship was impossible and that she no longer liked him, urging him not to cause further conflict with his family.

He argued that her actions, such as visiting him and bandaging his wounds, contradicted her words. Li Yanshu, however, maintained that she would offer the same care to any stray animal and advised him not to overthink it. Persistent, Gu Jinyun vowed not to give up as long as she remained single.

Li Yanshu finally put an end to his hopes, revealing that she already had someone she liked, a confession that left Gu Jinyun heartbroken and once again accusing her of protecting Gu Chengze. Later that night, Gu Jinyun remained missing. Gu Taitai, while doting on her young grandson, reaffirmed her conviction that all her actions were for Gu Jinyun's ultimate good, emphasizing that romantic relationships were temporary, while a career was for life.

She declared that she would never allow him to be with "some woman like Li Yanshu." She then enlisted Han Junyao's help, reminding her of her past cooperation in reporting Li Yanshu. Gu Taitai revealed that she had cut off Gu Jinyun's financial resources, leaving him penniless, and instructed Han Junyao, as his former classmate, to locate him among his friends. Han Junyao agreed to do her best, and Gu Taitai promised to remember her efforts.

Meanwhile, Gu Jinyun found himself alone in a private room, unable to pay his bill as all his cards were declined. A waiter informed him that signing for bills was no longer an option and revealed that Chairman Zhou had explicitly instructed them not to allow it. Han Junyao arrived, offering to cover his drinks and urging him to stop drinking, but Gu Jinyun stubbornly demanded more. Upon seeing her, he accused her of coming to mock him.

Han Junyao retorted, "you're really a dog biting everyone and not knowing who's kind to you." Eventually, Han Junyao helped the inebriated Gu Jinyun get back home. After a restless night, Gu Jinyun awoke filled with anger and drove to the company in search of Gu Chengze. Unable to find him there, he interrogated Gu Chengze's secretary, who claimed ignorance of his whereabouts. Realizing where Gu Chengze might be, Gu Jinyun headed directly to his home.

Refusing to enter, he sternly announced two things: he would "never ever forgive" Gu Chengze, and he would "chase Li Yanshu all over again," officially declaring war on him. With his declaration made, he turned and left, feeling a renewed sense of purpose and high spirits. He even called Han Junyao, who was concerned about his injuries, to confidently declare that no one could stop him from pursuing Li Yanshu.

Despite the escalating family tensions, Gu Chengze resolved to have a serious conversation with Gu Jinyun. Gu Chengze, who had been contemplating his own burgeoning feelings for Li Yanshu, having recently praised her cooking and noting a "telepathy" with her, remained calm when Gu Jinyun angrily confronted him. Gu Jinyun called him a liar and a traitor, refusing to engage in conversation and suggesting they fight instead.

Gu Chengze calmly stated that being a "girlfriend" was not a unilateral declaration, and Li Yanshu was, at most, Gu Jinyun's ex-girlfriend. He reiterated that he would not pursue her if she still liked Gu Jinyun, but Gu Jinyun insisted she did. Gu Jinyun demanded to know what Gu Chengze liked about Li Yanshu, dismissing Gu Chengze's feelings as mere "testosterone" given his lack of romantic experience.

Gu Chengze, however, eloquently described his affection as a deeply rooted feeling, impossible to pull away from once realized, much like sensing the arrival of a season only when it's already in full swing. Gu Jinyun then challenged him, asking if his preference for Li Yanshu among so many women was deliberate. Gu Chengze admitted it was, though he couldn't fully explain why.

Gu Jinyun tried to divert Gu Chengze by offering to introduce him to other beautiful women, but Gu Chengze declined, stating, "Don't do to others what you don't want others to do to you." Gu Jinyun continued to highlight their incompatibility, listing Gu Chengze's analytical nature, mysophobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and inability to sweet-talk, contrasting them with their differing "three views" (values, life, and world outlook).

Gu Jinyun then boasted about his own advantages, emphasizing his charm, wealth, and, crucially, his history with Li Yanshu as "childhood sweethearts" and "first loves," forming a "very deep love foundation." He confidently asserted his ability to achieve whatever he desired and challenged Gu Chengze to determine who held the advantage.

Unable to resolve their differences, they ultimately agreed to a fair competition, letting Li Yanshu make the final choice, with Gu Jinyun formally declaring his intention to pursue Li Yanshu starting that day. Following their declaration of competition, both Gu Chengze and Gu Jinyun, dressed formally and meticulously, intensified their pursuit of Li Yanshu. Gu Jinyun sent cakes and flowers to Li Yanshu at work, causing a buzz among her colleagues who gossiped about him courting her.

Li Yanshu, however, seemed unimpressed, calling the flowers "rotten" and "not pretty at all." Shortly after, Gu Chengze arrived, carrying something he had purchased himself. He declined a colleague's offer of cake from Gu Jinyun's treats and tersely told them to "mind your own business." The combined intensity of both men's aggressive approaches was so overwhelming that it directly scared Li Yanshu away.
