The First Frost Episode 11 Recap
> The First Frost Recap
One night, while sleepwalking, Wen Yifan opened the fridge and started stuffing rice into her mouth. Wen Ming, her aunt’s son, was startled and swung a stick at her, hitting Wen Yifan. The next day, when Wen Yifan was practicing dance on the rooftop, Sang Yan saw the bruises on her arms. Sang Yan pressed her to explain what happened, but Wen Yifan refused to talk about it.
Sang Yan, feeling distressed, told her she needed to protect herself and then drew a butterfly on the injured spot. On the 77th day of officially living together, Wen Yifan woke up in the morning and found that all the chairs that had been blocking the door the night before were gone. She realized that she had sleepwalked again.
She asked Sang Yan if she had done anything inappropriate, and Sang Yan told her that she had done something worse than before—something too embarrassing to even mention—but he promised that he would make her return everything. Wen Yifan thought he was asking for compensation and suggested writing him an IOU. The station had two new interns, and by coincidence, one of them was Mu Chengyun. The landlord reminded Wen Yifan to pay the rent.
Wen Yifan asked Sang Yan about it, and Sang Yan, "accidentally," added an extra zero to the amount, transferring 40,000 yuan to Wen Yifan. He said that they would deduct it slowly, and she would need to stay with him until the debt was paid off. Wen Yifan was confused, but Sang Yan explained that when she sleepwalked, her rationality was overtaken by desire, and she tried to possess him.
Mu Chengyun was assigned to learn from Wen Yifan, and during a meeting, Wen Yifan took a phone call about a news story regarding a mother searching for her daughter. Mu Chengyun leaned in and asked if there would be a reward if the story progressed well. Wen Yifan didn’t answer, but in her mind, she remembered the cake Sang Yan had given her when she passed the art exam.
The case they were working on involved a mother who had run from Nan Wu to Yi He to find her daughter. This meant that Wen Yifan would also have to go to Yi He, even though she was reluctant. Mu Chengyun, who fancied himself Wen Yifan’s exclusive intern, stuck to her all day and even waited to go home with her after work. Zhong Siqiao noticed that Mu Chengyun was interested in Wen Yifan, but Wen Yifan didn’t care.
Wen Yifan asked Zhong Siqiao to sleep with her one night, and by accident, they ran into Duan Jiaxu and Sang Yan both wearing bathrobes as they came out of a room. Zhong Siqiao smiled knowingly and told them to continue without disturbing them. The next morning at breakfast, Wen Yifan kept glancing at Duan Jiaxu and Sang Yan, and smiled at Sang Yan. Sang Yan explained that he brought Duan Jiaxu back to protect himself.
Wen Yifan and Mu Chengyun went on a business trip to Yi He to meet the mother in the case. The mother explained that after her daughter started working, she would regularly send money, but the payments stopped suddenly before the New Year. She had tried everything to find her daughter. Wen Yifan asked if she and her daughter had any conflicts.
The mother replied that after her husband passed away and she lost her job, she raised her daughter on her own, and her daughter had no reason not to take care of her. Wen Yifan couldn’t help but think of her own situation—being emotionally trapped by family, suffocated by a mother’s love. After the interview, the station colleagues told Wen Yifan that the daughter was now in Hong Kong. Wen Yifan called and said she would return a day later.
On the phone, Sang Yan heard Mu Chengyun’s voice and immediately felt a sense of crisis. Wen Yifan found the daughter, but she didn’t want anything to do with her mother anymore. Her mother had remarried and had a son, but the son and husband ran away, and now she was seeking her out again. After the interview, Wen Yifan saw some children in her dance class who needed guidance.
She demonstrated for them, and her graceful dancing made Mu Chengyun fall for her even more. Sang Yan specifically went to the airport to pick Wen Yifan up and asked if she had sleepwalked. When Wen Yifan denied it, Sang Yan relaxed. Wen Yifan didn’t see any classmates or go shopping during her trip to Yi He; it was just a city with no memories for her.
After being smeared at Yi He Daily during her internship, Wen Yifan suddenly felt a strong desire to return to Nan Wu. She quit her job and left the place she no longer had any attachment to.
