The Demon Hunter's Romance Episode 28 Recap
> The Demon Hunter's Romance Recap
When Xing Xian returned, Chi Lian was playing a song, singing along as he played, which made Xing Xian listen with rapt attention. She asked Chi Lian to teach her how to play as well. Xing Xian told Chi Lian about her encounter with Jiu Xuanye that day, but she didn’t understand why a demon would be afraid of a mere mortal.
Chi Lian explained that a demon hunter is no longer an ordinary person; there are methods to deal with them. Xing Xian volunteered to replace Chi Lian and play the piano the next day. Ban Xia saw a white crow perched on the shoulder of Cui Saosao while walking through the streets. She rushed to save Cui Saosao.
Excited, she went to find Jiu Xuanye and told him about the incident, but to her surprise, the white crow flew onto Ban Xia's shoulder. Jiu Xuanye insisted that Ban Xia must stay close to him, as he could protect her. Jiu Xuanye told Ban Xia that she had been cursed by the white crow, but it wasn’t because she had saved Cui Saosao. To break the curse, they would need to find the source of the white crow.
Only by using a weapon that severs the cause of fate could they kill the white crow, but success depended on opportunity. Jiu Xuanye stayed by Ban Xia's side. Ban Xia still felt that Jiu Xuanye was sitting too far away and asked him to sit beside her. Unable to resist, she reached out and held his hand, forgiving him for the words he had spoken about breaking up before. No matter the reason, she forgave him.
Ban Xia fell into a deep sleep, holding Jiu Xuanye's hand. At dawn the next day, the white crow cried out on Ban Xia's shoulder. Jiu Xuanye woke up, drew his sword, and slashed at the white crow. The crow’s feathers flew off, landing in front of a shop on the street, causing the newly hung sign to fall to the ground.
Ban Xia heard that someone had proposed to Jiu Xuanye and hurried to confront them, declaring that she was Jiu Xuanye's beloved. Jiu Xuanye acknowledged this, and the matchmaker left. Jiu Xuanye sarcastically mocked Ban Xia, saying that he didn’t want to be with her but actually intended to marry the blacksmith’s daughter. Ban Xia suddenly noticed that Jiu Xuanye's Chang Le Sword had cracked.
Inside his sword box were four swords, with Chang Le Sword being one of them, which had never been drawn before. However, it was used this time to sever Ban Xia's fate, causing a scratch on the blade. Ban Xia was worried that Jiu Xuanye might suffer a backlash, but she didn't feel anything wrong with herself.
Jiu Xuanye was also troubled, knowing that severing fate would cause a backlash, and they might have already lost something crucial without realizing it. After Xing Xian finished playing, Qin Xuan Zhi, the Minister of Rites, sent someone to invite him, hoping he would come to the imperial banquet to play for the emperor. From then on, his name would be known far and wide. Xing Xian happily returned home.
Jiu Xuanye came to see Duan Yingheng and explained that Ban Xia's constitution easily attracted demons. Initially, he wanted to stay away from Ban Xia to keep her safe, but now that was no longer possible. He hoped to stay with Ban Xia, protect her, and promised to guard her for life, just hoping that Duan Yingheng would agree.
After returning home, Xing Xian told Chi Lian about the invitation to play for the emperor, but Chi Lian, who preferred a carefree life, was not interested in going to such a place. Xing Xian felt regretful, and Chi Lian noticed Xing Xian’s pursuit of fame and wealth. He told Xing Xian not to play the piano at home starting tomorrow. Though Xing Xian agreed verbally, when alone, she still became absorbed in playing.
The next day, Xing Xian took Chi Lian to perform, admitting that she had been too narrow-minded and obsessed with many things. Chi Lian didn’t blame her. When Ban Xia and Xu Zhizhi went to the temple to draw an omen, they met an old man who was the little Taoist boy from the painting, now aged.
The Taoist boy took the initiative to cast an omen for Ban Xia, telling her that only with sincerity could she solve her current problems. Ban Xia also revealed her address, offering that the Taoist boy could come to find her anytime if needed, but the Taoist boy understood and had already transcended the mundane world. While Chi Lian went to play the piano, Xing Xian secretly met with Qin Xuan Zhi’s housekeeper and agreed to play for the emperor.
On her way back, she encountered Ban Xia and Xu Zhizhi being harassed by a man. Chi Lian intervened and scolded the man, then chatted with Ban Xia and Xu Zhizhi before returning. A pregnant woman went to Fae'n Temple to pray for blessings. She nearly tripped on her skirt while getting up, but Chi Lian appeared just in time, protecting her from harm.
He also advised the pregnant woman that she didn’t need to pray to Buddha, as she would still be blessed, and her child would be born safely. Jiu Xuanye blocked Chi Lian’s path. During their fight, Jiu Xuanye forced Chi Lian to reveal his true form. Jiu Xuanye knew that anyone who came to pray here with a good heart would have their wishes granted. However, Xing Xian harbored evil intentions, yet Chi Lian still made an exception for her.
Jiu Xuanye believed that if Chi Lian made one exception for Xing Xian, there would surely be a second, and he realized that the substitute at home was Xing Xian. Jiu Xuanye demanded that Chi Lian leave and never return, swearing not to harm anyone. After Jiu Xuanye left, Li Xian watched everything in secret. Xing Xian told Chi Lian that she would leave in a few days.
Chi Lian saw through her desire to go to the imperial capital, but Xing Xian lied, saying she only wanted to leave Guangping. Chi Lian said he would head south and live a different life with her. Although Xing Xian was reluctant, she didn’t refuse, and Chi Lian promised they would set off in two days.
