Ten Years Late Episode 4 Recap
> Ten Years Late Recap
Jin Ran arrived at the wedding, and upon realizing the bride was not Yuan Lai, he visibly relaxed and smiled. Xinyi, observing him, teased that he always became flustered around Yuan Lai. Xizi's wedding was a romantic and heartfelt affair, with Xinyi serving as both bridesmaid and hostess. In her speech, Xinyi spoke about the couple's ten-year journey, highlighting the beauty of childhood sweethearts and love at first sight.
Zhao Chengzhi noticed Jin Ran among the guests, while Ding Ang found his gaze drawn to Xinyi. While getting food, Ding Ang informed Gao Zifu that Xinyi was allergic to oysters and suggested he get her desserts instead, which she loved. Gao Zifu, her boyfriend, was surprised and wondered why he was unaware of Xinyi's allergy. Xinyi caught the bridal bouquet, prompting guests to excitedly chant for Gao Zifu to propose.
Gao Zifu kissed Xinyi, but when pressed for a proposal, he demurred, stating that such a sacred matter required the right time and place. Xinyi appeared visibly disappointed, and Ding Ang also seemed disheartened by the exchange. During the toasts, some guests deliberately challenged Yuan Lai, asking her to drink multiple glasses.
Although Zhao Chengzhi and Jin Ran both quickly stepped forward to shield her, Yuan Lai firmly insisted on drinking herself, stating that it was her way of showing friendship. Feeling unwell from the alcohol, Yuan Lai retreated to the restroom, where Jin Ran followed her. He boldly declared his intention to pursue her again, but Yuan Lai rebuffed him, reminding him that he was the one who abandoned her five years ago and calling him a hypocrite.
Jin Ran countered, asking if she was truly happy with Zhao Chengzhi and why she had chosen him. In a moment of impulse, he embraced her. Just then, Zhao Chengzhi knocked on the door, concerned for Yuan Lai. To avoid any misunderstandings, Yuan Lai urged Jin Ran to wait inside until she had left. As Jin Ran exited the restroom, Zhao Chengzhi confronted him, warning him to stop harassing Yuan Lai and asserting that the past was over.
Jin Ran retorted, accusing Zhao Chengzhi of hypocrisy. Their heated argument quickly escalated, nearly turning physical, but Ding Ang arrived just in time to break them up, reminding them it was a wedding. The three men then dispersed in anger. Upset by Gao Zifu's refusal to propose, Xinyi later sought him out. She questioned his intentions, asking if he truly planned to marry her, especially after she had been a bridesmaid three times for others.
Gao Zifu evaded her direct question and instead brought up Ding Ang, pointing out that Ding Ang knew about her oyster allergy while he, her boyfriend, did not, and questioned their relationship. Xinyi expressed her deep disappointment in Gao Zifu, stating he was not a qualified boyfriend. Later, Zhao Chengzhi inadvertently overheard a conversation between Xizi and Yuan Lai.
Yuan Lai confessed that while she was touched by Zhao Chengzhi, she did not love him and only considered him a good friend. She expressed a strong desire for him to find true happiness, admitting she herself was not suitable for him, and also stated her unwillingness to discuss Jin Ran. Zhao Chengzhi then entered the room, feigning ignorance of their conversation. While surveying a commercial property, Ding Ang spotted Gao Zifu walking hand-in-hand with another woman.
He followed them discreetly and witnessed Gao Zifu angrily telling the woman to stop following him. Ding Ang later waited for Xinyi outside her building and confronted her, accusing her of behaving like an ostrich by ignoring reality. Though flustered, Xinyi dismissed his theory. Ding Ang pressed further, asking if her current life and partner were what she truly desired, to which Xinyi affirmed that they were.
Shen Shuangshuang's plans to see a movie were cancelled by her friend, who mentioned a fortune-telling prediction that her soulmate would appear carrying a bag of chips. Later, Shen Shuangshuang bumped into Zhao Chengzhi. After a playful exchange about their respective strengths, she pulled him into the cinema. While watching a horror movie, Zhao Chengzhi was visibly scared and continuously ate chips, much to Shen Shuangshuang's amusement. She then remembered her friend's prophecy, making her wonder about Zhao Chengzhi.
Yuan Lai confronted Bob regarding the fake ticket numbers for the Japan trip, presenting a recorded phone conversation with the supplier who admitted the practice was authorized by Bob to secure lower discounts and kickbacks. Bob, initially defiant, became flustered. He arrogantly warned Yuan Lai not to overstep her authority and told her to take the matter to Mr. Ji. As Yuan Lai left, she overheard Fei comforting Li Wen, one of Bob's female subordinates.
Li Wen tearfully revealed that Bob had been sexually harassing her and other female colleagues. Enraged, Yuan Lai vowed to help her seek justice, encouraging her not to be weak. Jin Ran and Mr. Ji had a tense conversation over tea. Mr. Ji sarcastically praised Jin Ran's "boldness" for cancelling a 20-million order. Jin Ran, in turn, subtly questioned if Mr. Ji had a special relationship with the supplier.
Their conversation was charged with veiled accusations as they maneuvered around the issue of finding new suppliers. Zhao Chengzhi's partner, Chen Zhengli, arranged for a new intern for him, a beautiful and wealthy law graduate from their alma mater, East University. Zhao Chengzhi initially declined, wary of a "princess," but changed his mind upon learning she was a beauty. To his shock, the intern was Shen Shuangshuang.
She threatened to expose a secret from a past encounter—where he pretended to be gay—if he didn't let her stay. Blackmailed, Zhao Chengzhi reluctantly agreed, but under three strict conditions: she must not cause trouble, must obey all his orders, and must carry all his belongings. Yuan Lai went to Mr. Ji's office to report on the fraudulent ticket issue and Bob's sexual harassment, with Jin Ran also present.
She detailed Bob's actions, and Mr. Ji assured her of a thorough investigation. However, Jin Ran interjected, questioning the lack of concrete evidence and arguing it was inappropriate to dismiss an eight-year veteran employee based on "one-sided" accounts, criticizing Yuan Lai's approach as immature. At that moment, Bob entered, presenting falsified documents that framed Yuan Lai's department for underreporting the number of travelers. He claimed Yuan Lai had threatened the supplier into making false statements.
Surprisingly, Jin Ran sided with Bob, even suggesting he be assigned a major new project. News of the incident spread, with employees mocking Yuan Lai for allegedly framing Bob to cover her own mistake. Bob became even more arrogant, smugly warning Yuan Lai to stay out of his affairs. Despite her indignation, Yuan Lai was at a loss. Fei tried to defend Yuan Lai to her colleagues, while Li Wen worried that she had inadvertently caused more trouble for her.
