The friend shared that Jin Ran’s father deeply regretted leaving his wife and son, a decision forced upon him by Jin Ran's grandfather, who disapproved of their marriage and sent his father to Japan for business. After some business problems, Jin Ran's father married a woman he didn't love and felt too ashamed to return.
Ms. Hua confirmed that she loved and hated Jin Ran's father but never regretted knowing him. While she wished to understand why he abandoned them, she never pursued it, and they ultimately missed a lifetime together. She advised Jin Ran to cherish the present and his loved ones, as time is the most relentless force, and to live without regret.
Meanwhile, Xinyi was organizing Ding Ang’s belongings and discovered a photograph of him and his mother, which had been carefully pieced back together, along with an empty CD. Chengzhi called Xinyi, wishing to meet, and she directed him to Mrs. Ding's house, where she was headed. Xinyi showed Mrs. Ding the mended photograph, which brought tears to her eyes.
Mrs. Ding explained that they used to take such a picture every year until a heated argument over Ding Ang's passion for gaming led him to tear and discard the photo. Mrs. Ding expressed deep regret for not reconciling with her son sooner, but Xinyi reassured her that Ding Ang had already forgiven her. Chengzhi arrived and, acting as Ding Ang's lawyer, announced Ding Ang's will. Xinyi was shocked to learn that Ding Ang had drafted it before their marriage.
In a flashback, Ding Ang had explained to Chengzhi that because Xinyi had lost her parents young, she lacked a sense of security, despite her outward toughness. He wanted to ensure that she and their future child would be financially secure and live a worry-free life, regardless of his presence. Mrs. Ding comforted Xinyi, praising her and promising to support any decision Xinyi made.
Xinyi, deeply moved, vowed to be Mrs. Ding’s daughter and care for her for the rest of her life. Jin Ran met Yuan Lai on a rooftop, where he confessed his love, asking her to move in with him immediately. He declared his desire to be with her and spend the rest of his life caring for her, unwilling to risk losing her again. Yuan Lai apologized for the time they had wasted in the past.
Ding Ang's unexpected death made her realize the unpredictable nature of life, and she expressed her certainty that loving Jin Ran was what she wanted to cherish every moment. Xinyi visited Ding Ang's e-sports studio to inquire about the missing CD. A team member recognized it as a crucial tactical analysis disc for the National Championship, something Ding Ang was very protective of.
He recalled seeing Chu Yun with Ding Ang the last time the disc was used, suggesting she might know its whereabouts. She returned the CD to Xinyi, who, after hearing her heartfelt apology, forgave her. Later, Xinyi saw an old group photo from Jin Ran's birthday at a coffee shop, evoking strong emotions. Chengzhi and Shen Shuangshuang were looking at old photos when Shuangshuang accidentally cut her hand with a fruit knife. Chengzhi quickly helped bandage it, showing his concern. Shuangshuang asked if she was the most important person in his heart, and Chengzhi emphatically assured her that she was irreplaceable.
Jin Ran and Yuan Lai were working late, and despite Yuan Lai's claims of not being tired, she eventually leaned on Jin Ran's shoulder, falling asleep. The four friends later had dinner at a Western restaurant. Shen Shuangshuang, annoyed by Jin Ran and Yuan Lai's affectionate display, was touched when Chengzhi quickly shielded her with his body and clothing when a waiter accidentally spilled coffee near her.
Later, the friends visited Xinyi, bringing many gifts, including a baby carriage and toys. Xinyi was moved, remembering the happy times with Ding Ang, and, touching her belly, resolved to take good care of herself for their baby. The next morning, Jin Ran prepared a delicious breakfast for Yuan Lai, creating a sweet, domestic scene. Meanwhile, Shen Shuangshuang and Chengzhi submitted their resignations, intending to pursue Chengzhi's dream of becoming a photography journalist.
However, Chengzhi’s father, Mr. Zhao, burst in, vehemently opposing his decision. He accused Chengzhi, who was nearly 30, of being irrational for quitting his legal career to travel and take pictures, causing a heated argument. Later, Mrs. Ding met with Mr. Zhao to discuss transferring Ding Ang's sponsorship of a university e-sports club, fulfilling Ding Ang's last wish.
She expressed deep regret for not supporting or understanding Ding Ang's passions when he was alive, hoping this act could be a form of apology. She then gently advised Mr. Zhao to respect Chengzhi's choice to pursue photography, emphasizing that it's a respectable and fulfilling career. She cautioned him against repeating her mistakes, urging him to avoid future regret by supporting his son's passions while he still had the chance.
At Feitu, the situation was grim, with Vincent calling a meeting to find new investors. Jin Ran revealed he had a plan, but clarified that he would not use his inheritance money, intending to donate it or establish a charity fund once Feitu was stable. Later, Ji Aoting confessed to Jin Ran that Gu Sa was behind many of Feitu's recent problems, including Zhang Liang's withdrawal of investment and the Saian lawsuit.
He admitted that Gu Sa had exploited his past dissatisfaction with Mr. Wen, leading them to collaborate to sabotage Feitu's operations. Ji Aoting explained that Gu Sa's ultimate goal was to destroy Jin Ran's career, making him lose everything so he would return to her. Jin Ran was shocked by Gu Sa's ruthlessness, reaffirming that he only loved Yuan Lai, a fact Gu Sa clearly knew. Ji Aoting added that Gu Sa had recently approached him for a "last-ditch effort," but he had refused.
