Ten Years Late Episode 37 Recap
> Ten Years Late Recap
Yuan Lai waited for Jin Ran to return home, holding an umbrella in the rain. Jin Ran informed her that he had arranged for Gu Sa to recuperate in Japan and acknowledged the company, Feitu, was facing financial strain. While he promised to help Feitu overcome its difficulties, he felt overwhelmed. He expressed admiration for Ji Aoting’s calm and impressive reaction after learning about Gu Sa’s withdrawal.
Yuan Lai then handed Jin Ran Grant's business card, the CEO of Huazhong Investment, urging him to seize the opportunity at the upcoming Tourism Venture Capital Investment conference to promote the Peixin Island project. She revealed that Ji Aoting had given her the card, further increasing Jin Ran's respect for Ji Aoting. Yuan Lai, having heard from Chu Yun, questioned if Jin Ran would still accompany Gu Sa to Japan.
Understanding Yuan Lai's distress, Jin Ran felt remorse for her recent troubles and decided to speak with Chu Yun. Meanwhile, Aunt Hua visited Chu Yun, who was surprised to learn that Jin Ran had not gone to Japan with Gu Sa. Aunt Hua further informed Chu Yun that Jin Ran and Yuan Lai were planning to marry, which brought Chu Yun to tears.
Aunt Hua advised her to let go of what wasn't meant for her, sharing her own regret over holding onto resentment towards Jin Ran's father. She emphasized that true happiness lay in finding someone who genuinely loved her and that Jin Ran's happiness was with Yuan Lai. Chu Yun struggled to accept this, confessing her deeply rooted feelings for Jin Ran and her fear that others would never forgive her for her past actions.
Jin Ran, who had walked in through an open door and overheard their conversation, reassured Chu Yun that he wouldn't hold her accountable for what happened and had already cleared her name regarding the false rumors online, with Ding Ang’s help. He then asked Chu Yun to speak with Xinyi directly to clarify the events of that fateful night, hoping to mend Xinyi and Ding Ang's relationship. As Xinyi was getting into a taxi, Ding Ang joined her.
Jin Ran called Ding Ang, informing him that Chu Yun was willing to clarify everything. Ding Ang, eager to resolve the misunderstanding, changed the taxi's destination. Though still upset, Xinyi felt a sense of relief upon hearing that Chu Yun would finally explain herself. Ding Ang took out a ring, promising to put it back on her finger and admitting his mistake in letting Chu Yun get too close.
In a sudden, terrifying moment, a large truck swerved into their path. Without hesitation, Ding Ang threw himself in front of Xinyi, shielding her with his body. In his final moments, Ding Ang struggled to place the ring into Xinyi's hand, a poignant reminder of her earlier fit of anger when she had thrown it away.
Jin Ran and Yuan Lai were preparing to meet Grant when Jin Ran received a frantic call from the hospital, informing them that Ding Ang and Xinyi had been in a severe car accident and were in critical condition. Jin Ran immediately contacted Chengzhi, and they rushed to the hospital.
The doctors explained that Ding Ang had suffered massive internal bleeding from the violent impact and, despite an emergency thoracotomy, his condition was dire due to prolonged blood loss and oxygen deprivation. His survival now hinged entirely on his willpower. President Jiang, Ding Ang's mother, was overcome with grief, offering to do anything possible, but the doctors regretfully stated that more surgery was not an option.
They also informed President Jiang that Xinyi, who was four months pregnant, was in critical condition with signs of a threatened miscarriage and dangerously unstable blood pressure. President Jiang was devastated by the news of both her son and daughter-in-law. In a coma, Xinyi dreamt of her life with Ding Ang – their first meeting, their courtship, their marriage, and their arguments – strengthening her resolve to wake up.
Soon after, the doctor delivered the heartbreaking news that Ding Ang had passed away, causing President Jiang to collapse in shock. As Xinyi slowly regained consciousness, she vividly recalled Ding Ang shielding her in the accident. Mistaking Yuan Lai for Ding Ang, she grasped her hand and asked where he was. When no one answered, Xinyi understood the grim truth in their silence. Unnoticed by the others, Xinyi disappeared from her room.
She was later found waiting outside the operating room, hoping to see Ding Ang emerge from surgery. The doctor then exited, handing Xinyi a small bag containing the ring. He explained that Ding Ang had clutched it tightly throughout the entire operation, only releasing it at the very end. Yuan Lai embraced a heartbroken Xinyi, who, gazing at the ring, fainted from overwhelming grief. Overwhelmed by her loss, President Jiang resigned from her position as chairman.
Her assistant presented her with designs for new Kacol cellphone functions that Ding Ang had developed himself. He had intended to keep it a secret to surprise his mother the following year. President Jiang realized how much Ding Ang had loved and cared for her, deeply regretting not having spent more time with him or supporting his passions earlier, realizing her strictness stemmed from not wanting him to suffer.
She tearfully revealed that she had secretly invested in Kano, an online gaming company, ensuring that if his esports career ever faltered, he would have a foundation to start anew. Jin Ran and Chengzhi went to their old boxing gym, reminiscing about their shared memories with Ding Ang. They recalled how he would gather them there whenever they were upset and how he always worried more about their problems than his own.
They acknowledged that Ding Ang often mediated their stubborn arguments and wondered aloud how they would navigate life without him, feeling the profound void left by their lost friend. Jin Ran, unable to contain his sorrow, cried out Ding Ang's name. A few days later, Jin Ran, Yuan Lai, Chengzhi, and Shuangshuang picked Xinyi up from the hospital. Xinyi remained deeply melancholic. Jin Ran subtly advised Yuan Lai against being overly solicitous, suggesting Xinyi needed space.
Upon returning home, Xinyi imagined Ding Ang's warm welcome, only to find a teddy bear, a reminder of his loving presence. Everywhere she looked, there were thoughtful notes and reminders Ding Ang had left for her, a poignant contrast to his permanent absence. She finally allowed herself to break down and sob.
Sitting on the sofa, she recalled their cherished moments, laughing and crying as she remembered his meticulous care, how he had saved all her favorite movies and how he had always protected her. Weeping, she pleaded for Ding Ang to return, promising never to quarrel with him again. In a dazed state, she felt his hand in hers, and tearfully begged for his forgiveness and for him not to leave her. Yet, it was all merely a painful illusion.
