Soon after, Fei informed Yuan Lai that there was an emergency in Lan Town. Lan Town Scenic Spot, operating under the banner of "Ecological Future City," had experienced a significant incident.
The project’s managing company, Star Harvest, had severely miscalculated the carrying capacity for tourists. This led to an overwhelming number of visitors who couldn't find hotel accommodations, causing widespread dissatisfaction among tourists and the Lan Town government. Some shareholders had already begun to withdraw their investments, putting Star Harvest in a precarious situation. Jin Ran was not at the office, so Yuan Lai went to meet Ji Aoting, the head of Star Harvest.
To her surprise, she encountered Jin Ran there. Jin Ran had offered to help Ji Aoting, proposing a collaboration between Feitu and Star Harvest to integrate the Lan Town and Peixin Island projects, aiming for a win-win outcome. However, Ji Aoting was deeply skeptical, viewing Jin Ran’s offer as a trap. Yuan Lai intervened, urging Ji Aoting to trust both her and Jin Ran. Despite her words, Yuan Lai herself harbored some doubts about Jin Ran’s sincerity.
To dispel her concerns, Jin Ran put Yuan Lai in complete charge of the Lan Town project’s investigation and planning. Meanwhile, at home, Ding Ang was secretly trying to wash a lipstick stain from his shirt, attempting to hide it from Xinyi. Xinyi, suspicious of a stain, reminded him to dismiss Chu Yun from his company as they had previously agreed, and also blamed Chu Yun for their team's recent loss.
Ding Ang was evasive, stating he was too busy to go to the office. Jin Ran later met with Gu Sa to inform her of his plans to collaborate with Ji Aoting. Gu Sa expressed frustration, deeming the project too time-consuming, but Jin Ran was unfazed, explaining his intention to stay in China and develop his career.
He advised Gu Sa to return to Japan, promising to manage her company affairs and shares, but Gu Sa was in no hurry, having not yet achieved her goals. Upon learning from Fei that Yuan Lai was in Lan Town despite having a fever, Jin Ran grew worried and immediately booked the earliest flight to Peixin Island, where Lan Town was located.
After searching for a while, Jin Ran found Yuan Lai, weak and sitting on the side of a rainy road. He rushed her back to a hotel. Once Yuan Lai awoke, she recounted seeing Ding Ang and Chu Yun exiting the same hotel room and the lipstick mark on Ding Ang’s shirt. Jin Ran believed it was a misunderstanding and suggested she tell Xinyi.
However, Yuan Lai was hesitant, fearing the emotional impact on Xinyi, especially given her pregnancy and her deep commitment to her marriage. Ding Ang met Chu Yun to terminate her contract, giving her a bonus for her past competition and her accumulated salary. Chu Yun accused him of being irresponsible, but Ding Ang saw through her pretense.
She then revealed that photos and videos of them leaving the hotel had gone viral online, and she feigned victimhood in front of Ding Ang’s teammates, implying he was the one at fault. Xinyi arrived at the company and found Chu Yun alone. Xinyi confronted her, deriding her for trying to meddle in her marriage. Chu Yun brazenly implied Ding Ang’s guilt by the compensation he offered.
She further provoked Xinyi by revealing that Yuan Lai had seen her and Ding Ang leave the hotel but chose to keep it a secret, insinuating that Xinyi and Yuan Lai’s friendship was not as strong as Xinyi believed. Outwardly, Xinyi remained composed, but once Chu Yun left, she furiously threw her phone to the ground. Ding Ang, Chengzhi, Jin Ran, and Yuan Lai gathered at Chengzhi's office to discuss the scandal.
Ding Ang vehemently denied any wrongdoing, explaining that after losing a match, he drank alcohol, and Chu Yun appeared, claiming guilt and wanting to talk. He swore nothing inappropriate happened. Jin Ran and Yuan Lai encouraged Ding Ang to call Xinyi and explain everything clearly. Ding Ang called Xinyi, who, surprisingly, feigned ignorance, leading Ding Ang to believe she was still unaware. Later, Chu Yun met Shuangshuang, thanking her for her help.
She subtly showed Shuangshuang the online rumors and manipulated her into believing that Ding Ang had orchestrated the whole incident. Shuangshuang, being naive, was easily misled. Soon after, Shuangshuang saw Chengzhi, Jin Ran, and Yuan Lai arrive at a nearby café. As Shuangshuang went to greet them, a car sped by, splashing water. Chengzhi instinctively pulled Yuan Lai back, but left Shuangshuang to get splattered with mud. This small action caused Shuangshuang to feel a pang of jealousy.
That evening, Chengzhi hosted a celebration for his recent photography award. As Shuangshuang entered, she saw Chengzhi and Yuan Lai preparing things together, further fueling her unease. During his speech, Chengzhi thanked everyone but did not specifically mention Shuangshuang, leaving her feeling deeply disheartened. As each person shared their hopes and plans, Xinyi unexpectedly dropped a bombshell: she announced her intention to divorce Ding Ang. The revelation stunned everyone.
Xinyi, furious that everyone had kept the truth from her, refused to believe Ding Ang’s explanations and threw her wedding ring onto the table. She declared she no longer wanted to speak to Yuan Lai, who she felt had betrayed her by keeping secrets. Ding Ang immediately ran after Xinyi. Following Xinyi's dramatic exit, Shuangshuang lashed out at Yuan Lai, sarcastically suggesting that Yuan Lai must enjoy being protected by so many people.
Shuangshuang then angrily stormed out, leaving Jin Ran to comfort a distressed Yuan Lai. Chengzhi quickly pursued Shuangshuang, who tearfully confronted him, accusing him of always prioritizing Yuan Lai and thinking only of her safety whenever a crisis arose. Chengzhi was rendered speechless, and Shuangshuang ran off, crying.
