Tears In Heaven Episode 9 Recap
> Tears In Heaven Recap
Lei Yuzheng convened an urgent meeting to address the issue of workers protesting demolition fees. Lin Xiangyuan expressed feigned concern, but Lei Yuzheng quickly pointed out that Lin Xiangyuan had been responsible for coordinating with the demolition households regarding the costs. Lin Xiangyuan retorted that the workers were "not well-educated" and their words "can't be trusted," regretting that his company, Xinsheng, had trusted them.
Lei Yuzheng revealed he had communicated with Lin Xiangyuan about the costs, and Lin Xiangyuan had assured him the workers were fine with it, making Lin Xiangyuan's current stance contradictory. Lei Yuzheng then announced the resolution: the company would pay discretionary placement fees for older workers, and offer jobs at the Entertainment Center to the young and able-bodied once it was completed. He also voiced his suspicion that someone with an ulterior motive might be instigating the conflict.
Du Xiaosu awoke in the hospital, disoriented. A nurse informed her that she had fainted due to low blood sugar and a high fever, and a man had brought her in. The nurse mentioned he had been in a hurry, running up and down for her, and stayed all night watching over her before leaving early that morning after buying her food.
Du Xiaosu found a note on the table, explicitly stating, "Back to work at Boyuan," which filled her with warmth. Later, when she went to settle her medical and hospital bills, she was surprised to learn that the fees had already been paid that morning, with Lei Yuzheng's name on the record. When Lei Yuzheng returned home from work, he found Jiang Jin and his daughter, Jiang Fanlv, visiting Lei Ting.
Jiang Fanlv diligently tried to charm Lei Ting, offering him health supplements and a VIP card for a spa resort, highlighting its benefits for his cardiovascular health. Lei Ting was quite pleased, openly remarking that it was "better to have a daughter," and expressing envy toward Jiang Jin for having such a considerate child, unlike his own son who was still a bachelor.
Jiang Fanlv and her father defended Lei Yuzheng, attributing his ambition and busy schedule to Lei Ting's own example. Lei Yuzheng, uncomfortable with the conversation, quietly entered, interrupting the flattering exchange. Jiang Fanlv tried to bridge the gap, suggesting Lei Yuzheng call her "Miss Jiang at home" instead of being a "stranger." Zou Siqi and He Qunfei arrived to pick up Du Xiaosu from the hospital.
Zou Siqi, having heard that Lei Yuzheng brought Du Xiaosu in and stayed with her all night, immediately concluded it was a "realistic version of the domineering president falling in love with a clerk." Du Xiaosu vehemently denied it, reiterating that she and Lei Yuzheng were adversaries. He Qunfei defended Lei Yuzheng, suggesting his seemingly cold and then kind demeanor, as well as his loneliness, stemmed from his mother leaving him at a young age.
After being discharged, Du Xiaosu immediately took on a chauffeur side job. She personally handed Lei Yuzheng 1,700 yuan, explaining it was to repay the medical bill he covered. Lei Yuzheng suggested the company should bear such expenses, but Du Xiaosu firmly insisted on repaying him, stating her seriousness about not owing him. Lei Yuzheng then encouraged her to work hard at Boyuan.
Du Xiaosu returned to Boyuan, where her colleagues enthusiastically welcomed her back, praising her bravery at the demolition site. However, Jiang Fanlv summoned Du Xiaosu to her office. Jiang Fanlv informed her that Lei Yuzheng allowed her to return "for the sake of Zhenrong," implying it was out of pity.
She then assigned Du Xiaosu a demanding task: to produce several new design options for the core functional areas of the Universal Entertainment Center within three days, as she and Lei Yuzheng were dissatisfied with the previous submissions. Du Xiaosu acknowledged the tight deadline. She worked late into the night and over the weekend to complete the task.
Zou Siqi, pitying Du Xiaosu's long hours, informed her via phone call she couldn't keep her company because He Qunfei had asked her out shopping for a New Year's gift. Du Xiaosu urged Zou Siqi to take He Qunfei's sincerity seriously and consider formalizing their relationship, but Zou Siqi, unwilling to be rushed into marriage, brushed off her advice. During their shopping trip, He Qunfei presented Zou Siqi with a limited edition handbag.
Zou Siqi, admiring the expensive bag, teasingly asked if he felt "pain when you swiped your card." He Qunfei assured her it was worth it as long as she was happy. He then took the opportunity to propose that Zou Siqi come home with him for Chinese New Year to meet his parents. Zou Siqi immediately declined, stating it was "not appropriate for us to meet our parents yet" and she wouldn't go home with him.
He Qunfei argued that they had been together for a year, and his mother wanted to meet her. Zou Siqi expressed frustration over the inevitable questions about marriage and children that would follow. Despite He Qunfei's promise to handle everything, Zou Siqi remained adamant, saying "Marriage? What marriage? I'm not going home with you anyway. It's useless even if you buy me a bag." She then stormed off without eating.
Lei Yuzheng later went to a bar alone, where he reflected on memories of Shao Zhenrong. Meanwhile, Du Xiaosu was still working late on her design plans. A surge of inspiration, sparked by thoughts of Shao Zhenrong and a flashback to him describing an island school and the children he sponsored, briefly ignited in her. However, she received a chauffeur order and, needing the money, put her work aside to rush off. To her surprise, the client was Lei Yuzheng.
Despite her reluctance, she helped the heavily intoxicated Lei Yuzheng into his car. As Du Xiaosu drove, Lei Yuzheng's drunken taunts began. He criticized her slow driving, comparing it to a "senior mobility scooter," and warned her of perverts targeting "pretty female drivers." Du Xiaosu, already unfamiliar with his Lincoln's controls, including its keyless ignition, became distracted by his remarks. Her momentary lapse in attention caused her to swerve and hit a roadside flowerbed. Despair washed over Du Xiaosu.
She started to cry, lamenting her bad luck and the added financial burden of car repairs, especially when she was trying to earn enough money to get "that house"—the one Shao Zhenrong had left her. Lei Yuzheng, though annoyed, called for a tow truck. He then chided her for crying, pointing out that he was the one whose car was damaged, yet he hadn't asked her for compensation.
Du Xiaosu reiterated that she couldn't afford to pay even if he asked. Later, Lei Yuzheng was obliged to attend a dinner hosted by Lin Xiangyuan for several investment funds interested in the Entertainment Center project. Simultaneously, Jiang Fanlv brought Du Xiaosu to a separate gathering with media group clients. Jiang Fanlv introduced Du Xiaosu to Mr. Wei, a prominent media figure, as a "talented girl" and "popular figure," encouraging her to treat him well.
The clients, impressed by Du Xiaosu's beauty and talent, pressured her to drink multiple toasts. Feeling unwell, Du Xiaosu retreated to the bathroom, where she became sick. Stumbling out, she collided with Lei Yuzheng, who was also taking a break from his meeting nearby. Lin Xiangyuan observed their encounter and greeted Du Xiaosu, revealing to Lei Yuzheng and Jiang Fanlv that he and Du Xiaosu were university alumni, having known each other for a long time.
