Jiang Fanlv soon woke up, surprised to see him. Lin Xiangyuan explained he was worried about her reexamination the next day and had stopped by. He offered to take the day off to accompany her to the hospital.
Jiang Fanlv initially said her father would go with her and urged him to focus on his work, but Lin Xiangyuan insisted that she was the most important thing he wanted to focus on. Feeling scared, Jiang Fanlv asked if she would get better. Lin Xiangyuan reassured her, encouraging her not to overthink and promising to stay by her side until she fully recovered, no matter the outcome. He then told her to sleep well.
After Lin Xiangyuan settled Jiang Fanlv back to sleep, he was about to leave when Jiang Jin called out to him. Teacher Sun, assuming Du Xiaosu and Lei Yuzheng would also be marrying soon, invited them to his wedding. Du Xiaosu readily accepted, promising they would definitely be there. Lin Xiangyuan and Jiang Jin accompanied Jiang Fanlv for her hospital reexamination.
The doctor delivered the good news that Jiang Fanlv had fully recovered, attributing much of her swift recovery to her family's care, particularly Lin Xiangyuan's unwavering support. Everyone rejoiced. Lin Xiangyuan then announced his decision to move out of the Jiang family home, return to his hometown to visit his mother, and then go "where he belongs" to "pay his debt." He Qunfei, who had been discreetly checking house prices on his phone, asked if Du Xiaosu should be invited. Lei Yuzheng assented. He Qunfei also noted Lei Yuzheng's recent distraction.
Later, after dinner at the Jiang family home, Lin Xiangyuan requested to speak with Jiang Jin alone, while Jiang Fanlv listened from outside the door. Lin Xiangyuan revealed his intention to resign and accept responsibility for his past mistakes, preferring this to being chased away by Lei Yuzheng. Shangguan Boyao and other friends praised Xu You, highlighting her elegance, wisdom, and attractiveness, and playfully urged Lei Yuzheng to be with her.
They contrasted her with Du Xiaosu, suggesting Lei Yuzheng was "truly himself" and had a "cold aura" when with Xu You, but seemed "not like himself" and "warm" when with Du Xiaosu. Lei Yuzheng clarified that he didn't want to hurt Xu You again, seeing her as a "comrade" rather than a romantic partner. After the banquet, Lei Yuzheng met with Xu You.
She spoke of their frequent interactions and her assumption that a relationship might be possible, but ultimately sought a clear answer from him. Lei Yuzheng apologized, explaining that his heart and choice had never changed, confirming his enduring feelings for Du Xiaosu. Xu You, understanding, gracefully bade him farewell. Jiang Jin later learned of Lin Xiangyuan's insistence on divorcing Jiang Fanlv.
Jiang Fanlv shared with her father that Lin Xiangyuan believed divorce was for her benefit, offering her freedom now that she had recovered. Jiang Jin admitted he couldn't sway Lin Xiangyuan's decision and advised his daughter that loving someone sometimes meant respecting their choices. Du Xiaosu was having lunch with Mr. Liu, who had introduced her to a promising design project. She confidently assured him she could handle his high-standards friend, having dealt with difficult clients before. Lei Yuzheng unexpectedly appeared at the same restaurant.
Du Xiaosu noticed him, but when Mr. Liu asked if they knew each other, she denied it. She ordered a bottle of red wine to express her gratitude to Mr. Liu and quickly drank a glass. Lei Yuzheng immediately approached their table, announcing he was her boyfriend and trying to prevent her from drinking further, claiming she had a low alcohol tolerance and a bad temper when drunk.
Du Xiaosu pulled him aside, warning him not to interfere with her business meal. Lei Yuzheng insisted he had to be present whenever she drank and tried to forcefully take her away, but she refused to go. Mr. Liu intervened, asking Lei Yuzheng to release Du Xiaosu. Lei Yuzheng then questioned Mr. Liu about his relationship with Du Xiaosu and warned him to know his "limitations" and stay away from her.
Enraged, Du Xiaosu confronted Lei Yuzheng, accusing him of treating her like a toy, coming and going as he pleased. She demanded to know why he was questioning her friend and told him to find excitement with other people. Lei Yuzheng then forcibly dragged Du Xiaosu out of the restaurant and to the riverside. There, Du Xiaosu unleashed her pent-up frustration and pain.
She spoke of her constant waiting and fear, how she longed to call him but was always afraid he was with someone else. She pleaded with him to simply tell her if he wanted to break up, as she was tired of the emotional torment. Lei Yuzheng, claiming he understood her pain and felt worse when he couldn't see her, insisted she listen to his explanation.
He vowed that if she was still angry after hearing him out, he would never bother her again. He then kissed her passionately. Meanwhile, Zou Siqi decided to propose to He Qunfei and booked an expensive restaurant for their date. He Qunfei arrived, expressing surprise at the lavish setting and concern about the cost.
Zou Siqi, mustering her courage, repeatedly tried to propose, but the words faltered on her tongue, even as she mentally rehearsed "He Qunfei, marry me" or "He Qunfei, let me marry you."
