Lei Yuzheng went to a bar alone, drinking heavily. Du Xiaosu, who had been following him, approached and urged him to stop, offering to take him home. Lei Yuzheng angrily pushed her away, expressing his hatred for the pity he perceived in her eyes. He said he was unlucky and brought misery to everyone near him, citing Zhenrong and now his father.
Du Xiaosu, frustrated, argued that she wasn't pitying him but caring for him, and reminded him that as a man, he needed to take responsibility for his father's illness, as self-blame wouldn't help. She then defiantly grabbed a bottle of liquor, intending to drink with him. Lei Yuzheng snatched the bottle, smashing it, and called her crazy. When she refused to leave, he pulled her into a forceful kiss.
Despite his volatile behavior, Du Xiaosu reaffirmed her unwavering support, telling him, "No matter what you become and no matter what you want to do, I'm here for you!" The next morning, Lei Yuzheng prepared breakfast for his father, Lei Ting. However, Lei Ting, suffering from his illness, didn't recognize him and refused to eat, instead asking for "Cotton Candy" (Du Xiaosu). Meanwhile, in a phone call, Du Xiaosu's assistant informed her about the dire situation at her studio.
The real estate market was slow, leading to a lack of customers, and the studio was facing closure if new contracts weren't signed soon. Du Xiaosu, though realizing the seriousness, remained preoccupied with Lei Ting's well-being. Lei Ting later began searching for candy, explaining to Lei Yuzheng that he wanted to make up for forgetting to buy him candies when he was little.
He then repeatedly watched current news, and when Lei Yuzheng suggested he rest, Lei Ting started looking for someone in various rooms. Lei Yuzheng found an old photo album, and Lei Ting immediately recognized his wife, Wanhua, insisting they go find her. Du Xiaosu arrived and managed to gently settle Lei Ting back into bed. Lei Ting then urged Lei Yuzheng to marry Du Xiaosu quickly, fearing such a good prospective daughter-in-law would leave.
Lei Yuzheng could only smile and evade the question. After Lei Ting finally fell asleep, Lei Yuzheng expressed his gratitude to Du Xiaosu. As Du Xiaosu looked at a photo of Wanhua, Lei Yuzheng shared stories of his parents' early love and how their relationship strained as his father became consumed by work. Du Xiaosu advised him to face the present with optimism and cherish the people around him.
Before leaving, she emphasized that she was willingly helping to care for Lei Ting and would return the next day. Elsewhere, Lin Xiangyuan and Xie Li taunted He Qunfei, who was cleaning the restrooms. They ordered him to clean Lei Ting's former office, but He Qunfei steadfastly refused.
He declared his belief that Lei Yuzheng would return and submitted his resignation on the spot, telling Lin Xiangyuan that he would never return to work for him, even if he became a beggar. Back at the Lei residence, Lei Ting expressed a craving for dumplings. Lei Yuzheng and Du Xiaosu happily prepared them together. Their lighthearted moment was interrupted by Lin Xiangyuan, who arrived to visit Lei Ting.
Lei Yuzheng forcefully ejected him, leading to a heated exchange and a physical altercation between the two men. Du Xiaosu brought the cooked dumplings to Lei Ting, but Lei Yuzheng entered the room with a somber expression. He abruptly told Du Xiaosu that the family no longer needed her and insisted she leave. Despite Lei Ting's protests, Lei Yuzheng forcibly escorted Du Xiaosu out of the house.
Before departing, Du Xiaosu placed Lei Ting's medicine at the doorway and told Lei Yuzheng not to forget to give it to his father, adding that she would see him tomorrow. Meanwhile, Zou Siqi was at a boutique looking for a bag. She learned from the salesperson that Shangguan Boyao had pre-ordered a limited edition pink bag for someone named "Meimei," confirming her suspicions by seeing the name on the purchase order.
Furious, Zou Siqi bought a different bag and headed to confront Shangguan Boyao. He Qunfei, now working as a service person at a bar, spotted Shangguan Boyao with a woman. He warned Shangguan Boyao not to hurt Zou Siqi, or he would face severe consequences. Zou Siqi, undeterred by He Qunfei's attempts to stop her, stormed into Shangguan Boyao's private room, where she saw him embracing the other woman.
The woman instantly recognized the bag Zou Siqi was carrying as one Shangguan Boyao had given her. Heartbroken and enraged, Zou Siqi walked out. Shangguan Boyao quickly followed, offering her a bank card and suggesting they maintain a "simpler" and "freer" relationship, implying he could provide for her materially but not commit exclusively. Zou Siqi, disgusted, threw the card on the ground and left, with He Qunfei close behind her.
