Tears In Heaven Episode 20 Recap
> Tears In Heaven Recap
Lei Yuzheng's genuine efforts deeply moved Professor Ohm, who not only welcomed him into his home but also agreed to accompany him to Shanghai. Professor Ohm shared that Lei Yuzheng's persistent spirit reminded him of his younger self, recounting a story about his late wife, Anna, and his unwavering dedication to her, demonstrating an "if I don't achieve my goal, I won't give up" attitude.
Recognizing Lei Yuzheng's profound affection for Du Xiaosu, Professor Ohm gave his blessing, expressing his hope that she would appreciate the lengths Lei Yuzheng had gone to for her. When Du Xiaosu later learned the full extent of Lei Yuzheng's efforts, she was deeply touched. Professor Ohm told her that Lei Yuzheng loved her with the same intensity he had loved Anna, and urged her to treasure him. After dinner, Du Xiaosu and Lei Yuzheng strolled together.
She thanked him, happy about the outcome, but confessed she didn't understand why he treated her so exceptionally well. Lei Yuzheng admitted he couldn't pinpoint a specific reason, only that Du Xiaosu was different from others, and he found himself uncontrollably drawn to her. He recalled once being scornful of the idea of profound love, believing money and material desires held more sway. However, meeting Du Xiaosu made him realize that true love existed, something he had never experienced before.
He reflected on the complexity of human relationships, especially between men and women, and how he now understood the enduring nature of love. Du Xiaosu, however, admitted to being a particularly insecure person. Lei Yuzheng argued that a man's love for a woman often needed no specific reason, but Du Xiaosu countered that there was always a reason for mutual affection. He acknowledged their initial misunderstandings but felt they had led to a deeper understanding.
He found himself accustomed to her presence, sharing her joys and sorrows, and felt a compelling desire to care for her, pamper her, and do everything in his power for her—something he had never done before. When he asked if she trusted him, she affirmed she did. But when he asked for her answer regarding his feelings, Du Xiaosu remained silent. Understanding her need for time, Lei Yuzheng promised he could wait and then offered to take her home.
Back in Shanghai, Yutian Group's stock had seen a significant surge, leading shareholders to speculate about major overseas developments. Upon his return, Lei Yuzheng convened a board meeting and announced that his recent trip had successfully finalized a partnership with the renowned S. G. Group. The official signing ceremony for the Universal Entertainment Center project would take place the following day at Bin Jiang Hotel, with S. G. committing substantial investment to establish a new global entertainment brand.
The shareholders were overjoyed, relieved that the project's financial pressures would be alleviated, and they enthusiastically praised Lei Yuzheng, connecting the recent stock market activity to this impending deal. Later, Lei Ting, Lei Yuzheng's father, was excitedly selecting an outfit for the ceremony. Despite Lei Yuzheng's concerns about his father's recent recovery, Lei Ting insisted on attending, overjoyed by the cooperation. Lei Yuzheng suggested a black suit and presented him with a tie, which Lei Ting gratefully accepted.
The next morning, Lei Yuzheng, accompanied by He Qunfei, arrived at the Bin Jiang Hotel. The highly anticipated signing ceremony with S. G. Group attracted numerous journalists and industry figures. Just as Lei Yuzheng and S. G. President Linton were about to sign the contract for the Universal Entertainment Center, police officers dramatically entered the hall. They announced that Lei Yuzheng was suspected of illegal trading and needed to cooperate with an investigation.
He Qunfei protested, suggesting a misunderstanding, while Jiang Fanlv also attempted to intervene, even offering to accompany him. Lei Yuzheng, though visibly confused, remained composed. He stated his innocence and willingness to comply, instructing He Qunfei to care for his father, Lei Ting, and assuring Lei Ting that he would only be making a statement and would return soon. Witnessing Lei Yuzheng's arrest, Lei Ting, overwhelmed with shock, collapsed and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Jiang Fanlv and Jiang Jin tasked Lin Xiangyuan with finding out the cause of the arrest. Lin Xiangyuan reported that Lei Yuzheng was suspected of exploiting the impending S. G. cooperation news to manipulate Yutian's stock, buying shares to artificially inflate prices. Jiang Fanlv and Jiang Jin vehemently denied this, asserting that Lei Yuzheng would never commit such a blatant crime. Lin Xiangyuan, however, insisted his information was accurate, calling it a crime.
Jiang Fanlv, refusing to believe the accusations, declared she would investigate the matter herself. At the police station, investigators explained to Lei Yuzheng that the insider trading charges stemmed from someone knowing about the S. G. cooperation before the official signing, using this non-public information to boost stock prices. They warned him of severe legal consequences, including fines, detention, or imprisonment. Despite having previously confided in He Qunfei about the finalized S. G.
cooperation due to the Entertainment Center's capital needs, Lei Yuzheng protected his assistant, stating that no one else knew about the deal besides him. Simultaneously, at the hospital, doctors informed a distraught He Qunfei that while Lei Ting’s surgery was successful, there was a possibility he might never regain consciousness. A colleague, discussing Lei Yuzheng's predicament, mentioned that Lin Xiangyuan had learned from the Public Security Bureau that Lei Yuzheng was accused of using the S. G.
cooperation news to short-sell stocks, believing Lei Yuzheng did this to raise company funds. This revelation struck He Qunfei, who suddenly recalled getting drunk and disclosing the S. G. cooperation details to Lin Xiangyuan, realizing with horror that his actions might have led to Lei Yuzheng's frame-up. Consumed by guilt and anger, He Qunfei confronted Lin Xiangyuan in the heavy rain. He accused Lin Xiangyuan of deliberately using the S. G.
cooperation news to frame Lei Yuzheng, reminding him that only Lei Yuzheng and he knew the details, and that Lin Xiangyuan had overheard him "spill the beans" while He Qunfei was drunk. Lin Xiangyuan, however, feigned ignorance, dismissed the accusation, and demanded evidence. Although He Qunfei admitted he had no concrete proof, he was convinced that Lin Xiangyuan had long planned this, purposefully getting him drunk to extract information. Enraged, He Qunfei struck Lin Xiangyuan.
Lin Xiangyuan then retaliated by reminding He Qunfei of his financial struggles and how he had loaned him one million yuan to buy a house, threatening to sue for defamation if He Qunfei continued making baseless accusations. Lin Xiangyuan then chillingly asserted that he was not the one who framed Lei Yuzheng, but rather Lei Yuzheng's own ego was to blame.
Du Xiaosu, wanting to thank Professor Ohm, bought several gifts for him, but was unable to reach Lei Yuzheng, whose phone was off—an unusual occurrence for him. Meanwhile, a drenched and dishevelled He Qunfei arrived at Zou Siqi’s home, where Du Xiaosu was also present. He told Zou Siqi to return the house deposit, stating they wouldn't buy the house. Zou Siqi, confused and upset, questioned his motives and insisted they could buy it and repay any debts later.
Just then, a news report on TV announced Lei Yuzheng's arrest, stating he was suspected of profiteering through undisclosed information related to the S. G. contract, an event expected to impact the Universal Entertainment Center project. Overwhelmed, He Qunfei confessed that he had "spilled the beans" while drunk, implicating Lei Yuzheng. He also revealed that Lin Xiangyuan had given him the money for the house, making Zou Siqi realize that Lin Xiangyuan might have orchestrated Lei Yuzheng’s downfall.
He Qunfei admitted he wasn't sure, but acknowledged his drunken disclosure of sensitive information. Du Xiaosu, however, adamantly stated her trust in Lei Yuzheng and vowed to find a way to help him. Separately, Jiang Fanlv desperately pleaded with Jiang Jin to help Lei Yuzheng, but he explained that due to the stock money originating from an offshore account, many influential contacts were unwilling to get involved.
He also cautioned Jiang Fanlv, as Lin Xiangyuan’s fiancée, not to interfere too much, but she dismissed his concerns, saying she wasn't in the mood to consider Lin Xiangyuan's feelings. Despite her trust in Lei Yuzheng's innocence, Du Xiaosu was frustrated by the lack of concrete evidence to clear his name. She resolved to take a risk and confront Lin Xiangyuan, sending a text to He Qunfei about her plan.
Meanwhile, in the detention center, Lei Yuzheng mentally replayed the events and police questioning, specifically his denial that anyone else knew about the S. G. cooperation. During a visit from Attorney Fang and He Qunfei, Lei Yuzheng learned that all evidence pointed to him, making his situation precarious.
Resigned to the likelihood of imprisonment, he declared he would accept full responsibility to protect Yutian's reputation and ensure the successful continuation of the Entertainment Center project, which was his father's lifelong dream. A distraught He Qunfei repeatedly apologized, confessing his role in the leak and offering to tell the police the truth and go to jail in Lei Yuzheng’s place.
Lei Yuzheng, however, firmly silenced him, stating that his sacrifice would be futile and urged him instead to care for Lei Ting, concealing the truth from his fragile father for as long as possible. Later, He Qunfei reiterated his willingness to endure years in jail to save Lei Yuzheng, but Attorney Fang reminded him that legal outcomes relied on evidence, not impulsive acts, and that Lei Yuzheng had prioritized the company's survival.
Xie Li called Lin Xiangyuan regarding Lei Yuzheng's arrest, but Lin Xiangyuan, while feigning surprise, dismissed it as Lei Yuzheng's bad luck, reassuring Xie Li that Lei Yuzheng was too proud to let anyone else take the blame. He instructed Xie Li to remain calm and avoid gloating. Meanwhile, Du Xiaosu contacted Lin Xiangyuan, arranging to meet for coffee.
Lin Xiangyuan correctly surmised she wanted to discuss Lei Yuzheng, but Du Xiaosu initially deflected, claiming she merely wished to catch up with an old classmate. She probed him about a million-yuan loan he made to He Qunfei for a house, implying he had recently come into a lot of money. Lin Xiangyuan explained it away as a "windfall" from a successful real estate investment.
Du Xiaosu then directly questioned if Lei Yuzheng had been framed, to which Lin Xiangyuan vehemently denied any involvement, stating Lei Yuzheng's troubles had nothing to do with him. Just then, He Qunfei appeared, returning the million-yuan bank card and kneeling to beg Lin Xiangyuan to save Lei Yuzheng, admitting it was all his fault. Lin Xiangyuan, however, maintained his innocence and disavowed any ability to help. Enraged, He Qunfei lunged at Lin Xiangyuan, but Du Xiaosu quickly intervened, holding him back. Lin Xiangyuan then nonchalantly walked away as they watched.
