Zhuo Yin sat outside a cake shop, eating leftover bread, when her father arrived with a lunchbox. He offered her the hot meal, along with soup her mother had made, expressing concern that such poor sustenance wouldn't support her dreams. He then asked her to move back home, revealing how much her mother missed her, and admitting he missed her too. Tears in her eyes, Zhuo Yin agreed, thanking her father.
In the following days, both Group S and Troupe A students prepared for their final exams. Li Zhenyan, an excellent student, had no worries, but Qin Fen and Fang Xiaowo, who struggled academically, begged him for tutoring. Li Zhenyan initially declined, finding their theoretical and English classes simple, only requiring memorization. However, he soon discovered Qin Fen often skipped class and Fang Xiaowo slept through them.
At Qin Fen's house, Li Zhenyan reluctantly highlighted key points for Western music history, describing English as the "simplest subject." Fang Xiaowo, however, disagreed. After Li Zhenyan returned home, Fang Xiaowo arrived with a box of toiletries. She declared she would be staying at his place to pull all-nighters for studying. Though he protested her moving in, Li Zhenyan did not turn her away.
The next morning, Li Zhenyan woke Fang Xiaowo and Qin Fen at 6 AM to memorize English vocabulary. As they shivered, they whispered about Fisher, with Fang Xiaowo speculating he might be looking for a first love. Li Zhenyan then quizzed them on Western music history, but their answers were comically wrong, prompting him to forbid them from eating until they memorized properly. During lunch, Group S member Xu Zixuan inquired about Fang Xiaowo's relationship with Li Zhenyan.
Fang Xiaowo confidently stated she was his girlfriend, citing his kindness, like tidying her room, blow-drying her hair, playing piano with her, and letting her sleep at his house (albeit on the sofa). Xu Zixuan and her sister, however, compared Li Zhenyan's treatment of Fang Xiaowo to caring for a stray cat and mentioned that his ex-girlfriend was Jiang Caiwei. Fang Xiaowo vehemently denied being a stray cat.
Saddened and distracted by the conversation, Fang Xiaowo was unfocused during her review at Li Zhenyan's place, even losing her temper with him. Later, while on the phone with his aunt, Li Zhenyan accidentally dropped Fang Xiaowo's toothbrush in the trash. That night, after Fang Xiaowo fell asleep, Li Zhenyan gently carried her to his bed. He then went to a convenience store, returning with a brand-new toothbrush for her.
Having spent the entire night awake, helping them study and then losing his bed, Li Zhenyan swore to himself he would never take in anyone again. The next morning, Fang Xiaowo awoke to find breakfast and the new toothbrush. All her anger from the previous day dissipated, and she joyfully exclaimed, "New toothbrush! Li Zhenyan, I like you best in the world!" She playfully blew on his hand for good luck before heading to her exam.
Li Zhenyan cautioned her not to fall asleep, ironic as he returned home for a much-needed nap. He set an alarm but overslept, missing his own exam. Mr. Hu informed him he would have to take a make-up exam before graduation. Meanwhile, Fang Xiaowo and Qin Fen, having passed their exams, enthusiastically invited Li Zhenyan to celebrate with hot pot, attributing their success to his guidance and Fang Xiaowo's lucky charm.
Elsewhere, Jiang Caiwei, a backup for the school anniversary performance, practiced her part, feeling marginalized. Tian Yisong, meticulous in his conducting practice, worked on perfecting not only his precision but also the aesthetic of his movements, aspiring to be a great conductor like Fisher. He stated he would not lose to someone who had not even attended conducting classes. Jiang Caiwei, noticing his intense self-pressure, suggested they go to an arcade to relax.
At the arcade, she shared that it always lifted her spirits. Tian Yisong, feeling her presence made everything better, confessed his feelings, telling her he had known she was the one since their first meeting and asked to protect her dreams. Jiang Caiwei shyly accepted his confession. Meanwhile, Li Zhenyan was busy intensely coaching the Group S students, meticulously explaining musical details.
Fang Xiaowo, feeling overlooked, prepared lemonade for him, but he inadvertently handed it to another student without drinking any himself. Annoyed, Fang Xiaowo left with her honey-lemon jar and headed to an arcade to vent. There, she unexpectedly met Jiang Caiwei. Fang Xiaowo, with heartfelt encouragement, told her that if she carried a dream in her heart, then the spotlight was already within her. They played an arcade game together before parting ways. Back home, Fang Xiaowo recounted her encounter with Jiang Caiwei to Li Zhenyan. She playfully teased him about knowing his "ex-girlfriend" so well. Li Zhenyan quickly clarified that he and Jiang Caiwei were merely friends and had never been a couple.
Fang Xiaowo, seemingly pleased by this, then put him on the spot, demanding he answer a multiple-choice question about which type of girl he liked, playfully refusing to let him eat until he responded. Eventually, he declared with a smile that he liked himself. As the school anniversary performance approached, Jiang Sasha, who was to be the lead performer, was locked in a classroom while practicing.
Unable to reach her, Mr. Zhang, in charge of the event, quickly arranged for Jiang Caiwei to take the stage. The audience was visibly surprised by the sudden change, but Jiang Caiwei's powerful rendition of "Sarastro is completely finished" quickly captivated them, drawing strong applause. Even Li Zhenyan observed that she sang better than before. Watching the performance, Fisher remained unfazed by Jiang Caiwei's unexpected appearance.
He shared with the principal that young people like Tian Yisong and others needed to experience such challenges, believing that a single failure did not define a lifetime, and genuine dedication to music would always be met with sincere rewards in the future. The next morning, Fisher visited Group S, who had been practicing diligently for over a month in his absence. When he asked to hear their rehearsal, the students, eager to impress, played with renewed vigor.
After their performance, Fisher lauded their effort, saying they had played with "heart." He then made a startling announcement: Group S and Troupe A would face each other in a public performance. The losing group would be immediately disbanded. To ensure fairness, he declared his withdrawal from coaching either group. The Group S students were crestfallen, convinced they were doomed to lose and felt abandoned by Fisher.
Some older members voiced concerns about their impending graduation and job prospects, feeling it was futile. Li Zhenyan, observing their low morale, stated that if they lacked fighting spirit, they might as well disband immediately. However, Zhuo Yin stepped forward, expressing her strong desire to stay. She declared this was her first time being selected for something, and she refused to give up. Inspired by her and Qin Fen's rallying cries, the students found their determination again.
They chanted, "Group S will win!" They then turned to Li Zhenyan, asking if he would lead them to victory against Troupe A. Li Zhenyan, seeing their renewed spirit, agreed. He declared that since their fighting spirit was back, they must win, and from that moment until the competition, everyone would follow his instructions. The students enthusiastically agreed, ready to fight this battle together. After a subsequent rehearsal, Li Zhenyan approached Zhuo Yin, remarking on her significant improvement.
He noted that all the beats she previously struggled with were now perfectly aligned, and her playing demonstrated a newfound "80% openness" and emotional depth. He expressed curiosity about how she had suddenly achieved such a transformation.
While she didn't directly answer, Fang Xiaowo presented Li Zhenyan with a handmade, embroidered gift depicting "ugly" versions of them, joking that she must have saved the galaxy in her past life to meet him, to which he playfully retorted he must have destroyed it. Fang Xiaowo then lightheartedly told him that music should be about happiness, not overcomplication. He sighed, wishing it were that simple, reminding her that every symphony melody required meticulous polishing. As they raised a toast to him as their "official commander," he reluctantly joined in.
