> Symphony's Romance Recap
Jiang Caiwei uploaded a video of Yan Yan singing online, and it quickly gained popularity with many netizens praising Yan Yan's voice and seeking the music resources. Soon after, Yan Yan received a call from President Xiao's secretary. The secretary informed Yan Yan that President Xiao had reviewed their proposal and was particularly impressed with Jiang Caiwei as an artist and her projected career path. They accepted the plan and expressed a desire for a long-term collaboration.
Overjoyed, Yan Yan shared the good news with Jiang Caiwei, who was equally thrilled. Jiang Caiwei thanked Yan Yan, telling him that his bravery had given her immense courage, and she hoped she could be the same for him, making them invincible together. Having decided to confront his past, Li Yazhe made an unexpected appearance at Li Zhenyan's home.
Li Zhenyan, sensing his father's presence, coldly asked Fang Xiaowo to go upstairs, stating he had things to discuss with Li Yazhe. He then confronted Li Yazhe, asking why he was there if he had only returned to visit an ailing Fisher. Li Yazhe, expressing his longing for reconciliation, asked Li Zhenyan not to be so resistant, admitting he understood that Li Zhenyan wasn't used to having a father after so many years.
He declared his return was for atonement, to which Li Zhenyan retorted that any atonement should be directed towards his mother, not him. With that, Li Zhenyan abruptly ended the conversation by walking into his room and shutting the door on Li Yazhe. Later, Li Zhenyan visited his mother, Gu Zheng's, grave. Li Yazhe soon arrived with a bouquet of flowers, explaining that Gu Sheng, Li Zhenyan's aunt, had informed him.
Li Zhenyan reacted with anger, declaring his mother had no connection to Li Yazhe and accusing him of never visiting her in all these years. He sternly warned Li Yazhe not to disturb her, now or ever. Li Yazhe insisted it was a debt he owed to Gu Zheng for over a decade, but Li Zhenyan, frustrated, left the cemetery. Once alone, Li Yazhe poured out his heart to Gu Zheng's tombstone.
He reflected on Li Zhenyan's growth into a respected conductor, recognized even by his own former musical peers, and wondered if Gu Zheng felt proud. He then expressed profound regret for his past stubbornness, recalling how cruelly he had allowed Gu Zheng and Li Zhenyan to leave without a second glance. He believed that if he had stopped her then, none of the subsequent tragedies would have occurred.
He confessed his heart had been tormented for years, longing for a chance to apologize and hoping for her forgiveness, as his conscience remained deeply unsettled. He admitted his past actions were selfish and, correcting himself, "too stupid." He tearfully apologized for his tardiness and his past mistakes. Unbeknownst to Li Yazhe, Li Zhenyan had returned and was watching and listening from a distance, his emotions a complex mixture of thoughts.
Back home, Li Zhenyan sat in deep thought, gazing at a photo of himself with his mother. Fang Xiaowo, noticing his distress, gently inquired about his mood. Li Zhenyan confessed his conflicted feelings, revealing he had seen Li Yazhe still wearing the wedding ring he shared with his mother. He had always assumed Li Yazhe would have remarried and built a new life, but instead, he seemed to have lived a desolate existence.
This revelation made Li Zhenyan question the depth of his hatred. While he still harbored resentment, he realized it wasn't as intense as he once believed. His primary concern was whether accepting Li Yazhe would be a betrayal to his mother's memory. Fang Xiaowo reassured him, expressing her conviction that his mother would undoubtedly wish for them to resolve their emotional burdens and find peace.
Li Zhenyan and Fang Xiaowo visited Fisher in the hospital, finding him connected to an IV drip despite having seemed fine at his recent concert. When Fang Xiaowo asked if he had eaten lunch, Fisher responded by talking about the weather outside, which was actually cloudy. He also optimistically mentioned plans to attend an RS orchestra rehearsal once he recovered.
Both Li Zhenyan and Fang Xiaowo found his behavior peculiar, suspecting something was amiss but unable to pinpoint the exact issue. After being discharged, Fisher met with Lin Yumian on campus. She inquired about his return, and he cryptically stated he was there to accomplish "something big," dismissing her suggestion of taking on new apprentices.
As they strolled through the campus, Fisher grew nostalgic, recalling how Lin Yumian used to bring him osmanthus wine sweet soup from the canteen and reminiscing about their first stage together, where they dreamed of musical fame. Lin Yumian, sensing he was withholding information, pressed him. Suddenly, Fisher was overcome by dizziness and tinnitus and collapsed. Lin Yumian immediately rushed him back to the hospital, where Li Yazhe joined them.
Lin Yumian angrily confronted Li Yazhe for not disclosing Fisher's illness earlier. Li Yazhe explained that Fisher preferred to keep his condition secret, knowing his tendency to be private. The doctor informed them that Fisher's condition was critical, requiring immediate surgery, and he absolutely must avoid high-decibel environments, canceling all rehearsals and performances until after treatment. Later, as Fisher awoke, Lin Yumian brought him the osmanthus wine sweet soup he had craved.
Fisher explained his secrecy was to avoid being pressured into surgery. He then revealed his true intention: to host one final farewell concert in China. He chose Mendelssohn's Double Piano Concerto, requesting Li Zhenyan and Fang Xiaowo to perform the piano parts, with the RS orchestra accompanying him. Li Zhenyan vehemently opposed the idea, citing Fisher's fragile health and the RS orchestra's recent formation and lack of experience. Fang Xiaowo also expressed doubts about her own capabilities.
However, Lin Yumian and Li Yazhe, understanding Fisher's deeper desire to leave a lasting legacy and aid the young ensemble, chose not to dissuade him. Faced with their united front, Li Zhenyan reluctantly agreed to the plan. Li Zhenyan and Fang Xiaowo then convened the RS orchestra members to announce the farewell concert. The news was met with anxiety, as the newly reformed orchestra worried about their preparedness and the possibility of hindering Fisher's performance.
Fang Xiaowo, however, encouraged them, announcing that Ji Mo would be returning to play the oboe. She urged everyone not to shy away from the challenge, reminding them of their determined spirit from their days at Baike (Hundred Devices) and promising to give her utmost. Li Zhenyan reinforced her message, stressing the immense importance of this inaugural performance for the reorganized RS orchestra. He implored them not to disappoint Fisher's faith and efforts, nor to squander their own hard work.
Without prior warning, Li Yazhe moved into Li Zhenyan's home, claiming his concern for Fang Xiaowo's upcoming performance made it necessary to be close by to assist her practice. Li Zhenyan, though initially resistant and accustomed to living alone, eventually conceded. Li Yazhe, offering to sleep on the sofa, explained that hotels were unsettling and not conducive to piano practice. Despite Li Zhenyan's reluctance, Li Yazhe offered Li Zhenyan the bed while he himself slept on the sofa.
Over the next few days, as Li Yazhe diligently guided Fang Xiaowo in her piano practice, Li Zhenyan found himself subtly softening. Watching his father, memories of his own childhood, seeing Li Yazhe play and cherished family moments, began to surface. Fang Xiaowo, deeply immersed in her practice, even declared she wasn't hungry, a rare statement that Li Yazhe humorously noted as a sign of her intense dedication.
During this time, Fang Xiaowo mentioned that Dalia and Ji Mo had gotten together, prompting Li Zhenyan to jokingly threaten to send Ji Mo back to France, a playful indication of his growing comfort and hint of jealousy. Later, Li Yazhe approached Li Zhenyan and Fang Xiaowo, asking them about their plans following the conclusion of the farewell concert.
