Lin Shaochun, troubled by Tao Yao's manipulations and her pregnancy with Sun Shijie's child while residing in the Sun Manor, seeks advice from Liu Sanjue. Liu Sanjue suggests she wait for Tao Yao to expose herself before taking action. Lin Shaochun then enlists Liu Wushuang to help devise a plan. Tao Yao begins to ingratiate herself, flattering Shen Qingyao, styling her hair, and providing delicious food, quickly winning her favor.
She pretends to reconcile with Wu Yuehong, bringing her food, but Wu Yuehong suspects poison and rejects her. Tao Yao then intentionally spills hot soup on herself in front of Sun Shijie, blaming Wu Yuehong. Sun Shijie scolds Wu Yuehong and leaves with Tao Yao, causing Wu Yuehong deep hurt. Shen Qingyao sends Tao Yao supplements, which Tao Yao generously distributes to the servants, earning their praise and consolidating her position in the manor.
Observing Tao Yao's growing influence, Xu Fengqiao, irritated, invites Tao Yao to play a card game. Tao Yao, a skilled player, deliberately loses, owing Xu Fengqiao money and even kneeling in defeat. This convinces Xu Fengqiao to drop her guard, believing Tao Yao to be harmless. Tao Yao later explains to her maid, Songlian, that this was a strategic move to disarm Xu Fengqiao.
Songlian also reminds Tao Yao that Jia Fengyuan is pressing them for action, but Tao Yao prioritizes securing her standing in the manor first. Meanwhile, Wu Yuehong continues training her disciples. Sun Shijie attempts to apologize but Wu Yuehong ignores him, even kicking him down during a training demonstration. Feeling unappreciated, Sun Shijie leaves. Tao Yao, knowing Shen Qingyao's fondness for orchids, places many pots in Wu Yuehong's training area to provoke her.
When Wu Yuehong angrily demands they be moved, Sun Shijie passes by. Tao Yao either deliberately breaks a pot or injures her hand while moving them, prompting Sun Shijie to blame Wu Yuehong, comfort Tao Yao (even covering her with Wu Yuehong's favorite clothes), and scold his wife. Wu Yuehong is enraged and heartbroken, at one point seeking solace at Jishantang. Desperate, Wu Yuehong seeks Lin Shaochun's advice.
Lin Shaochun suggests Wu Yuehong pretend to reconcile with Tao Yao by taking her shopping, to understand her better before ultimately defeating her. Wu Yuehong agrees and takes Tao Yao to a renowned rouge shop. There, Tao Yao spots someone resembling Chen Boyuan entering a tea house opposite. Terrified, she sends word to have him arrested. However, the man turns out to be Liu Wushuang in disguise.
Tao Yao, upon learning it wasn't Chen Boyuan, fears his continued existence and instructs Songlian to tell Jia Fengyuan to eliminate him. Concurrently, Xiaocui informs Lin Shaochun about the incident, leading Lin Shaochun to suspect official involvement and ask Sun Yulou to investigate if any recently exiled individuals match Chen Boyuan's description. In a separate development, Wild Wolf's activities have become rampant. Sun Junhao resolves to proactively eliminate him.
Yao Dizhu devises a clever strategy: spread false information to lure Wild Wolf into a trap, then use an "empty city" ruse to ambush and annihilate his forces. Sun Junhao gathers his soldiers for a farewell drink, promising to marry Yao Dizhu upon his triumphant return. Wild Wolf, believing Sun Junhao's army has fully mobilized, confidently leads his men to attack the supposedly undefended city. Upon entering, he finds the city empty, and the gates close, revealing the trap.
Sun Junhao and his soldiers emerge, engaging Wild Wolf in battle. Wild Wolf is ultimately defeated and killed by Sun Junhao. The soldiers cheer, and Sun Junhao publicly declares Yao Dizhu the woman he will never let down, crediting her with the victory and prompting her to press for marriage.
