Song of the Moon Episode 4 Recap
> Song of the Moon Recap
Bai Feng meticulously tends to Lu Li's injuries, secretly bringing him medicine she prepared after hearing he was hurt and distracting Wang Jian. She gently reminds him of their shared past, where they constantly got injured while practicing magic and supported each other through countless challenges. Despite Bai Feng's deep affection for him, Lu Li, seemingly oblivious, primarily expresses concern for Liu Shao, asking if she has caused any trouble.
He reassures Bai Feng that Liu Shao's actions were unintentional and that Master and Bai Feng are the most important people in his life, vowing to protect them. Liu Shao, anticipating Lu Li's arrival, waits by the flower wall. She is mindful of Marquis Wuyang's instructions about finding the Moon Washing Stone and the King Herb on a full moon night, acknowledging the associated dangers, including the possible appearance of Ao Hen.
When Lu Li arrives, he reassures her that his injuries are minor and will heal quickly, promising they will go on demon hunting trials together. Liu Shao struggles to articulate her feelings, leading Lu Li to playfully tease her. He then gifts her a recording stone, explaining its ability to store thoughts and messages. Liu Shao, delighted, proposes using it to exchange messages, and they agree to meet at this spot frequently.
Unbeknownst to them, Bai Feng observes their heartfelt exchange from a distance. Liu Shao locates the Moon Washing Stone near the Moon Washing Pond, identifying it by its luminous, jade-like quality as described in the prayers. She then irrigates it with her blood, which causes the King Herb to emerge.
As she prepares to leave, Ao Hen suddenly appears, mocking the protective lanterns from the Mansion of Wu Yang Duke and effortlessly seizing her despite her use of an invisibility amulet. In a critical moment, He Na, the Demon King in White, materializes. He confronts Ao Hen, declaring it time to settle the score for his clan, and drives the demon away with his flute's melody.
Liu Shao expresses her gratitude and asks if he is indeed the Demon King in White, which He Na denies, claiming he merely impersonated him to frighten Ao Hen. However, He Na then states that he requires compensation for his assistance, revealing his intention to take the King Herb for his injured brother.
Before departing, he magically erases Liu Shao's memory of him, leaving her disoriented and distraught, unable to recall the man's appearance or the circumstances of the King Herb's disappearance, fearing the repercussions for Marquis Wuyang and the human realm. Meanwhile, Lu Li, having learned of Liu Shao's perilous venture from Wang Jian, rushes to the Moon Washing Pond despite his own injuries.
He finds Liu Shao beneath a tree, deeply upset and tearful over the loss of the King Herb and the failure of her mission. Lu Li is visibly relieved to confirm she is physically unharmed. He gently comforts her, calling her a "silly girl" and making a solemn vow to always remain by her side, which brings a smile through her tears.
At the Aquatic Demon realm, He Na uses the King Herb to heal his brother, Fu, whose vitality had been severely damaged and whose demon spirit is restored. Although Fu is recovering, he is eager to seek revenge on Ao Hen for slaughtering their clan and taking their demon energy.
He Na, however, advises him to rest and recover fully, acknowledging the significant power disparity between them and assuring Fu that as the Demon King, he knows how to handle their clan's affairs. Upon their return to the Mansion of Wu Yang Duke, Du Mingchong seizes the opportunity to publicly accuse Liu Shao of betraying the human race and pilfering the King Herb, questioning how she escaped Ao Hen and even suggesting she became a demon.
Bai Feng tries to defend Liu Shao by explaining that she already checked for demons around the Moon Washing Pond and that Aquatic Demons usually respect the Mansion's lanterns. Liu Shao defends herself by questioning how she could enter the Mansion if she were a demon and offers to leave if they don't trust her. Lu Li steps forward, declaring that Liu Shao intends to recover the King Herb.
Marquis Wuyang states that returning the King Herb would prove her innocence. Lu Li, undeterred by the immense challenge of finding a century-plant King Herb, pledges an unbreakable military oath to retrieve it, vowing to accept any punishment if he fails. He later confides in Liu Shao that his promise was made primarily to buy them time.
Liu Shao, despite her initial despair, focuses on recalling the distinctive features of the white-robed man who took the herb, vaguely remembering a unique flower pattern on his flute pendant. Lu Li helps her describe it, and from his knowledge, identifies the unique flower as a water hyacinth, a royal emblem of the Aquatic Demons.
This discovery confirms the thief is indeed He Na, the Demon King in White, uniquely capable of controlling all spirits in the Three Realms with his flute's melody. In the Aquatic Demon realm, He Na and his brother, Fu, engage in a heated discussion regarding the curse afflicting their people. Fu passionately advocates for overthrowing the Four Seasons Monument to free God of the Moonlight, believing he can lift their curse.
However, He Na questions the God of the Moonlight's past actions and capability to cause trouble again. He Na asserts that the true solution lies in finding Immortal Ze Shui's successor and reveals he has a promising lead. Fu, frustrated, challenges He Na's reliance on a woman, pointing out the disrespect their clan now faces even from minor demons under Ao Hen. He reaffirms his fierce loyalty, stating his creed: "Humiliate my clan, I'll cut you into pieces."
Determined, He Na decides to secretly observe Liu Shao, as her immunity to his Melody Flute's magic suggests she might be Immortal Ze Shui reincarnated or her true inheritor. He prepares to journey to the Mansion of Wu Yang Duke, knowing his temporary fish demon double cannot sustain its form much longer. Shortly after Fu departs, He Na senses Lu Li, who has been hiding and observing, and launches an attack.
The two exchange powerful blows, their skills evenly matched, before Lu Li, recognizing the formidable spellwork as Lu Sheng's, decides to temporarily withdraw. Unbeknownst to them, Du Mingchong, fearing that Lu Li will surpass him and become the next Household Head, deliberately releases a powerful spider demon, intending for it to target Lu Li. That night, Liu Shao returns to the flower wall, intending to record her true feelings for Lu Li on the recording stone.
She confesses her appreciation for his unwavering trust and support when others doubted her, expressing her deep happiness and her lifelong dream of exploring the world, now hoping he would accompany her on a magnificent life journey. Unbeknownst to her, Lu Li has been present the entire time and hears her heartfelt confession. He steps forward, revealing his presence, and confirms that he has found clues regarding the King Herb, assuring her not to worry.
He tells her to get ready for the next day's demon hunting trial. They share a tender moment of mutual understanding and affection. The following day, Lu Li, Liu Shao, Xue, and Wang Jian embark on their first demon hunting trial. Lu Li playfully teases Xue about being bait, who expresses his fear of demons. In the forest, they are ambushed by the powerful spider demon unleashed by Du Mingchong.
Wang Jian, whose cultivation is still shallow, proves no match for the creature, while Lu Li and Liu Shao fight desperately to protect him and Xue. Just as the situation becomes dire, He Na, the Demon King in White, appears. The spider demon immediately kneels, begging for mercy and explaining that it was sealed and only recently released by someone who controlled it with a demon-controlling seal.
He Na removes the harmful spell and reduces the spider demon's power by thirty years before allowing it to depart. As Lu Li and the others rush forward, He Na smiles at Liu Shao and introduces himself as A He, claiming to be "her demon," leaving Liu Shao utterly bewildered by his strange declaration.
