Wang Jian and Xue hosted a farewell gathering for Lu Li and Liu Shao, who were set to depart for the Immortal Palace the next day. As they shared drinks, Lu Li looked at Liu Shao, contemplating a way to never leave her, even considering his master's suggestion to split the Four Seasons Tablet. Liu Shao encouraged him to try, though Lu Li questioned if it would be as simple as his master suggested.

Meanwhile, someone observed that the seal of the Four Seasons Tablet was weakening, hoping Marquis Wuyang's disciple could help restore it. The following day, instead of using conventional transport, Lu Li conjured a carp boat for Liu Shao. He playfully teased her curiosity, explaining that mortals entering the Immortal Palace were said to undergo a rebirth, like a carp leaping over the dragon gate, gaining an unimaginably wonderful life.

Upon their arrival at the Immortal Palace, Immortal Master Wanwu was already waiting. He greeted them, revealing he had previously seen them through Marquis Wuyang's Xuantian Mirror while investigating the Immortal Lord’s arrival. He clarified that it was the Bone-Corroding Harp that had brought Liu Shao this opportunity, confirming her as Marquis Wuyang’s newly chosen heir for this significant role. Lu Li humbly stated he was far from Marquis Wuyang’s cultivation level.

Immortal Master Wanwu then entrusted Lu Li and Liu Shao to General Xie, before departing. General Xie, however, had other business and dismissively told the two to find their own way to the Palace Wuji, the residence for low-rank disciples. Despite Liu Shao’s confusion about the location, Lu Li reassured her, encouraging them to take things easy and offered to show her around.

He claimed to have visited the Immortal Palace as a child, though later admitted he had only seen it from afar. They observed other disciples practicing magic, and Liu Shao wished their carefree life could last forever, expressing her desire to be with Lu Li eternally.

Lu Li, standing near the Four Seasons Tablet, silently considered whether to pull out the Moon Sword, which could allow him to stay with Liu Shao, but hesitated given her mission to restore the Tablet. Liu Shao soon returned with fresh fruits, and they shared a moment, with Liu Shao questioning the purpose of cultivating immortality when their current life felt so divine. She also wondered why she hadn't been given any lessons.

Lu Li explained that the immortals were primarily interested in her Bone-Corroding Harp for the Four Seasons Tablet’s restoration, jokingly adding that if she failed, she might be thrown to the fish in the waterfall. Liu Shao found this amusing, even suggesting the Immortal Palace was more formidable than Ao Hen. She then expressed a hope that if she succeeded in the restoration, she could beg them to let Lu Li stay with her.

Lu Li thanked her, but Liu Shao pondered the implications for his duties at Marquis Wuyang’s Mansion. Later, Lu Li demonstrated the magic doll technique, explaining that Bai Feng had used it to deceive Liu Shao when she drew the sword. He admitted his power was limited to conjuring only his own image, unlike his master.

Liu Shao, recalling her past misunderstandings, embraced him tightly, apologizing and vowing to trust him above all else, even over what she saw or heard. Meanwhile, a more sinister plot unfolded. Ao Hen, consumed by vengeance for his son Ao Yin’s death, was spurred on by Lu Sheng. Lu Sheng suggested they attack the Immortal Palace during the upcoming Four Seasons Tablet ceremony, dismissing Ao Hen’s concerns about the Palace’s protection spells.

Unaware of this, Liu Shao secretly sought out Immortal Master Wanwu. She reassured him of her ability to play the Bone-Corroding Harp, having used its power for her own healing. Her true purpose, however, was to plead for Lu Li. She revealed that Lu Li was suffering from the Soul-Devouring Spell, and although temporarily suppressed, it was not a long-term solution.

Liu Shao offered to give up her own opportunity to cultivate in the Immortal Palace if they would free Lu Li from the spell, wishing only for his safety and well-being. Immortal Master Wanwu told her to succeed in restoring the tablet first. Liu Shao affirmed her decision, explaining she preferred a lifetime with Lu Li over thousands of years of lonely cultivation, considering it her great fortune. Unbeknownst to her, Lu Li was listening nearby.

Moved by her words, he imagined their future together, promising to ask Marquis Wuyang to propose marriage, inviting Wang Jian, Xue, and He Na, and even building a house next to Marquis Wuyang’s Mansion where they would raise rabbits and sheep. On the day of the Four Seasons Tablet restoration, Marquis Wuyang led his disciples to the Immortal Palace, where immortals began to set up a grand formation.

Marquis Wuyang spoke of the event as a "song to mend the heaven" that would solidify the eternal friendship between immortals and mortals. Lu Li, observing the preparations, resolved to become a protector of the mortal world. Liu Shao then began to play the Bone-Corroding Harp. As the music resonated, the cracks on the Four Seasons Tablet visibly diminished, and Luo Ning, previously in a coma, seemed to regain consciousness.

However, as the restoration neared completion, Fu appeared, claiming it was his turn and stating he intended to use Liu Shao's divine spirit to heal himself. He began to manipulate the Bone-Corroding Harp, wresting control from Liu Shao. She cried out as the harp began to steal her vitality. Despite the efforts of immortals like Qiuxian and Lingqi to stabilize the formation, the harp spiraled out of control, causing the cracks on the Four Seasons Tablet to worsen.

Chaos erupted as a demon attacked the Zijin Shield, attempting to breach the protection spells. Wang Jian expressed his alarm, realizing Liu Shao was still in danger. Marquis Wuyang immediately ordered his disciples to protect the Four Seasons Tablet. Ao Hen confronted General Xie, vowing to make him pay for his son’s death. Amidst the escalating battle, Lu Li cried out against the Bone-Corroding Harp’s destructive power, realizing with agony that the Soul-Devouring Spell was activating at that very moment.

Liu Shao, struggling to hold on, felt herself losing control. Lu Li questioned if this was truly what it meant to have no choice. At this critical juncture, Lu Sheng’s voice echoed in Lu Li’s mind, tempting him. He pointed out that Lu Li’s beloved, friends, and fellow disciples were all dying, and Lu Li himself was close to death.

Lu Sheng urged him to pick up the Moon Sword, break the Four Seasons Tablet, and revive the God of the Moonlight, promising that with the God’s power, all spirits in the Three Realms would obey him, and everything would be under his control. He argued that only with this power could Lu Li truly protect them.

As the battle raged, Marquis Wuyang bravely stepped forward to shield against Ao Hen’s assault, telling Lu Li not to disappoint him, for the future was now in his hands. Ao Hen mocked Marquis Wuyang, but the Marquis defiantly declared that he had protected this world his entire life and would never allow it to be trampled upon. Despite the mounting pressure and Lu Sheng’s persistent temptations, Lu Li, in agonizing pain, firmly refused to break the Four Seasons Tablet.

He rejected the notion of reviving the God of the Moonlight if it meant plunging the Three Realms into hell. Simultaneously, Liu Shao fought desperately to regain control of the Bone-Corroding Harp, asserting that she was its true player. Ao Hen, meanwhile, was shocked as the Moon Sword, against all expectations, recognized Lu Li, a mere mortal, as its master. Lu Li, recalling his earlier words, asserted that even an "ant" could challenge the mighty.

He rejected the path of becoming a God by stepping on the blood of his friends and beloved, choosing instead to remain a mortal and fight alongside them. Merging with the Moon Sword, Lu Li launched a powerful attack directly at Ao Hen. In an instant, the demonic energy dissipated, and the remaining demons scattered. Ao Hen, severely wounded, collapsed, his fate sealed. Lu Li, however, fell heavily from the sky.

Liu Shao rushed to him, cradling him in her arms as he delivered his final words. He acknowledged he could not fulfill his promise of a lifetime together, and that he could no longer protect her. Liu Shao, weeping, begged him not to leave, reminding him of his promises.

With his last breath, Lu Li told her not to cry and expressed that while he couldn’t protect her anymore, meeting her had made his life, though not his own and like a shadow, one of profound luck with no regrets. A communication stone then floated in the air, a symbol of Lu Li’s existence.

As Liu Shao stared at it, memories flooded her mind: their first meeting, his initial harsh words but unwavering trust, their shared dreams of marriage, and his earlier words about setting a time limit for his life: "to the moment when I can't protect my beloved one, no more needed by anyone, and come to the end of my life."

She also remembered him saying he was born with only half a heart, finding the other half in her, and their simple joys like catching the moon, along with her childhood wish to see the world with an immortal. Liu Shao was left with the painful realization that their promise, which she had so desperately believed in despite not being able to recall his face, would only be real if she continued to believe. In her grief, she softly called him "Immortal."
