On the day of the sacrificial ceremony, Yin Shujun rushed to the scene but immediately noticed that the person on the altar was not Prince Rui—the figure was clearly wrong! Something was definitely going to happen tonight. For such a major event, Prince Rui would never entrust it to someone else. The person replacing Prince Rui on the altar was none other than Lu Chang. Wei Zhuo captured an assassin.

Seeing the fireworks, Jian Mingshu assumed Wei Zhuo was sending a signal and thought Lu Chang was safe. But soon after, numerous sky lanterns floated up into the sky. Jian Mingshu glanced at the sinister-looking Lu Wan’er and instantly realized Lu Chang was in danger on the altar. The sky lanterns drifted toward the altar but were suddenly shot down by a volley of arrows. A large number of lanterns fell, igniting a fire and releasing poisonous smoke.

Jian Mingshu rushed over to find Lu Chang on the altar, poisoned and physically drained, yet still risking everything to save others. However, the stairs to the altar were already engulfed in flames. In the nick of time, Lu Chang held Jian Mingshu and leapt down from the altar. Lu Chang soon passed out, and Jian Mingshu gradually lost consciousness as well.

Yin Shujun rushed to the burning palace, believing Prince Rui was inside and tried to charge in to save him. Fortunately, Prince Rui stopped her. It turned out that Lu Chang had drugged Prince Rui and taken his place to face the danger. He had also told Prince Rui about a hidden door inside the room, allowing him to escape safely when the assassin locked the door.

Prince Yu thought everything was under his control, only to hear that something had gone wrong with the blessing ceremony. Prince Rui and Yin Shujun rushed to the ceremony site and rescued the unconscious Lu Chang and Jian Mingshu. With the mishap at the ceremony, Lord Lu was stripped of his position and thrown into prison. Before leaving, he told Lu Wan’er where his secret documents were hidden.

Lu Wan’er, full of confidence, came to the study intending to burn everything Lord Lu left behind, but she didn’t expect Su Tangli to appear at that moment and kill her. With this evidence, Su Tangli could finally clear her father's name. The next day, the Emperor received the news and flew into a rage, ordering Prince Yu to be confined while the matter was thoroughly investigated.

Yin Shujun was upset and blamed Prince Rui for keeping everything from her, but she knew he only wanted to protect her from danger. While unconscious, Jian Mingshu recalled all her lost memories—the bond she shared with Lu Chang since childhood, and the moment she was rejected on the night of the marriage contest.

She woke up in a daze and ran into the street looking for her father, but her memories told her that the Jian family had all died tragically. Seeing Jian Mingshu in such pain broke Aunt Zeng’s heart. Lu Chang was still unconscious. Ying Xun said he had always felt guilty about the Jian family case, and his act of risking his life was not just for Prince Rui, but also for the injustice done to the Jian family.

Jian Mingshu stayed by Lu Chang’s side every day to care for him. Seeing how worn out she looked, Song Qingzhao told her to rest and took over watching Lu Chang himself. Lord Lu confessed that he had acted under Prince Yu’s orders. Upon learning that Lu Wan’er had died and could not testify, the Emperor was so enraged he could barely breathe.

At the morning court session, officials repeatedly impeached Prince Yu and voiced their support for making Prince Rui the crown prince. The Emperor, however, became even more suspicious of Prince Rui. The matter of Prince Yu was handled with minimal fuss—the Emperor ordered him to leave the capital and reflect on his actions.

Prince Yu had deliberately arranged for officials to impeach him in court to make the Emperor suspect Prince Rui, thus preserving his own title. Mr. Su’s name was cleared. Su Tangli had finally settled one of the biggest matters weighing on her heart.
