Su Tangli was convinced that someone else was responsible for her father's death. As long as the hatred of her father’s murder remained unresolved, she would always be Su Tangli. The Prince of Yu gave a bitter smile, but said he could help her live a good life even as Su Tangli. He hoped she would let him be the one to carry out the revenge while she stayed by his side, watching over him.

Su Tangli looked at the Prince of Yu and nearly lost herself in the moment. But after a dazed pause, she pulled her hand away and gradually walked off. Jian Mingshu told Yin Shujun and the Princess of Wen’an that she and Lu Chang were not biological siblings. However, both of them could see that even so, Lu Chang was deeply devoted to Jian Mingshu.

Jian Mingshu also shared how Lu Chang had gotten seriously injured while trying to visit her in prison—at the time, he was frantic, rushed back without a second thought, and said something she couldn’t remember. But after he left, she suddenly woke up. Jian Mingshu suddenly realized—could it have been Lu Chang who kissed her back then?

Jian Mingshu went to ask Song Qingzhao about what had happened at that time and confirmed that it was indeed Lu Chang who had kissed her. But what was she to make of that? Song Qingzhao said his mother intended to propose a marriage and hoped to bring them together, but Jian Mingshu was overwhelmed with confusion.

Upon reflection, she realized she had long harbored feelings for Lu Chang, but she still didn’t know how he felt about her, nor what kind of relationship they truly shared. Su Tangli had Qi bring in Doctor Hu and also handed him a handkerchief to pass to Jian Mingshu, believing she would surely come. Indeed, Jian Mingshu came. Su Tangli revealed to her her real surname and past identity—now, Jian Mingshu was the last remaining member of the Jian family.

Jian Mingshu had always blamed Su Tangli for using unscrupulous methods in the name of revenge, but if she learned the truth, would she still feel the same? Su Tangli went on to say that the reason Lu Chang kept Jian Mingshu close was because she held key evidence in Mr. Su’s case—he saved her for his own sake.

Jian Mingshu didn’t want to believe it, but she couldn’t bring herself to give up on finding the truth of her identity. So, she left with Su Tangli. The Princess of Wen’an handed the letter left by Jian Mingshu to Song Qingzhao, wishing him well in finding the one he loved. Song Qingzhao refused to believe it and insisted on finding her to ask in person.

Lu Chang went to Hualang Pavilion looking for Jian Mingshu, but Yin Shujun and the Princess of Wen’an said she wouldn’t be coming for the next few days. Jian Mingshu had left a letter in her room explaining her absence, and Su Tangli also left a note saying she had taken Jian Mingshu to Jianglin. Lu Chang reacted as if facing a major crisis. Su Tangli brought Jian Mingshu back to the old Jian residence.

As the doors swung open, Jian Mingshu’s eyes were filled with confusion and curiosity. Su Tangli kept provoking her, hoping she would recall Madam Song, but Jian Mingshu had no memory of her at all. Su Tangli grew increasingly emotional, giving Jian Mingshu a pounding headache. Doctor Hu rushed in to stop Su Tangli from further agitating her and tried using hypnosis to help her recover her memories.

Under hypnosis, Jian Mingshu seemed to return to the past, seeing Lu Chang coldly reject her, and his resolve on the night of the bridegroom selection—tears streamed down her face. At that moment, a group of assassins broke into the Jian household. Su Tangli told Qi to hold them off—under no circumstances could the hypnosis be interrupted. Qi couldn’t handle them alone, and Su Tangli was also injured.

Lu Chang rushed in, and Su Tangli told him to save Doctor Hu and that the drumming must not stop. But Doctor Hu was hurt, and Jian Mingshu woke up from hypnosis and fainted in pain. Jian Mingshu was not in serious condition, but needed rest and recuperation. Lu Chang was furious that Su Tangli had taken Jian Mingshu to Jianglin without permission.

Her body was too weak to forcibly restore memories, not to mention that there were still people in Jianglin who wanted her dead. Su Tangli, wronged and aggrieved, said she only wanted the truth—and besides, Jian Mingshu now knew that she and Lu Chang were not siblings. When Jian Mingshu woke up, she could no longer remember the dream from hypnosis.

Hearing the argument between Lu Chang and Su Tangli, she couldn’t help but come out and drive them away, seemingly holding resentment toward Lu Chang. All she knew was that she was a member of the Jian family, and that the once prestigious Jian family had been annihilated with no survivors. Lu Chang insisted on staying by her side.

He suspected the Jian family’s massacre was the result of collusion between officials and bandits, and he was determined to bring Gao Shicai to justice. Jian Mingshu asked Lu Chang for one more favor—she wanted to pay respects to her family. Song Qingzhao rushed to Jianglin, thinking Lu Chang had told Jian Mingshu the truth. The two argued endlessly.

Lu Chang and Jian Mingshu had prepared some food, but Jian Mingshu had no appetite and only managed to eat some pastries that Song Qingzhao brought. Ying Xun saw Song Qingzhao keeping Jian Mingshu company and worried for Lu Chang, but Lu Chang said that Jian Mingshu’s recovery was more important now. After the Jian family’s massacre, Ying Xun’s father had buried them at this location. But Jian Mingshu couldn’t remember their voices, or their faces. Lu Chang didn’t want Jian Mingshu to blame herself—her family would want her to live well.
