Jin Ayin discovered a photo of Tao Tao and Chi Yu on Tao Tao's social media, realizing that Tao Tao had never mentioned having dated Chi Yu. Xiang Qinyu speculated that Tao Tao's distress might have been related to a troubled romance, possibly even a suicide for love. Jin Ayin couldn't comprehend why Ma Zehao had lied to her, insisting that Tao Tao's incident was merely an accident.
They decided to immediately return to Shanghai and visit Tao Tao at the hospital to assess the situation. Upon their arrival at the hospital, Jin Ayin and Xiang Qinyu witnessed Ma Zehao desperately trying to prevent nurses and doctors from moving Tao Tao to a different bed. He was unable to pay the overdue medical fees. Jin Ayin intervened, calming him down.
She then realized that Ma Zehao had been the sole caregiver for Tao Tao all along, unlike her parents, who contributed nothing. Ma Zehao revealed that Tao Tao's grandmother had passed away in that very hospital, heartbroken after Tao Tao's parents, despite her pleas for help, only left a small sum of money and departed. Jin Ayin pressed Ma Zehao about why he concealed the truth about Tao Tao’s suicide.
He confessed it was indeed a suicide, explaining that Tao Tao had always dreaded being gossiped about and wouldn't want to become the subject of public discussion if she were to regain consciousness. He questioned what Jin Ayin could truly do as a friend. Jin Ayin then asked Ma Zehao about the nature of Tao Tao’s relationship with Chi Yu. Ma Zehao suggested she ask Chi Yu directly, knowing that Chi Yu suffered from amnesia and couldn't recall anything.
Moments later, Ma Zehao deliberately knocked over a hot water bottle, splashing Xiang Qinyu’s foot. He then offered to wipe it, covertly trying to check for a scar. He found nothing on Xiang Qinyu's ankle. As Ma Zehao moved to get more hot water, Jin Ayin reached out to help, accidentally pulling his arm and revealing a fresh knife wound.
Xiang Qinyu immediately recognized the wound and became convinced that Ma Zehao was the person who attacked him on Valentine's Day. Back home, Jin Chuan, Jin Ayin’s brother, saw Jin Ayin and Xiang Qinyu holding hands, confirming their new relationship. Troubled by his own issues with Chen Mumu, Jin Chuan asked Jin Ayin to call her, as Chen Mumu had been avoiding his calls.
Jin Ayin apologized to Chen Mumu over the phone for keeping her relationship with Jin Chuan a secret, assuring her that the problems between Chen Mumu and Jin Chuan were not her fault. Chen Mumu, who could hear Jin Chuan nearby, asked Jin Ayin to revise her script, suggesting that the male lead should return to the past and should not pause his journey for anyone. Jin Ayin didn't realize that this message was intended for Jin Chuan.
Jin Chuan took the phone and learned that Chen Mumu had visited the Izakaya and overheard him saying he had given up his dream of going to Tibet for her. Jin Chuan confided in Xiang Qinyu, worrying that Chen Mumu would try to stop him if he told her the full truth. Xiang Qinyu advised him that true intentions matter more than actions.
Xiang Qinyu himself was conflicted, wondering if he should reveal a secret that would deeply upset Jin Ayin, even if it wouldn't change anything. Jin Chuan advised him against it. Jin Chuan, though he initially believed Li Longda was better for Jin Ayin, now felt that Xiang Qinyu was the one who could truly make his sister happy and entrusted Jin Ayin’s happiness to him.
Xiang Qinyu embraced Jin Ayin, kissing her and pledging that he would never let her suffer any harm. Jin Chuan went to Chen Mumu’s home but found she wasn't there and left a note on her door. Meanwhile, Chen Mumu's new budget proposal for the movie was rejected by Wu Jianzhou, her superior. She was summoned to the company. Wu Jianzhou, however, was not interested in discussing work; he insinuated that Chen Mumu was embezzling project funds.
He suggested that her efforts to cut costs actually highlighted deficiencies in her initial work and tried to coerce her into returning to him by offering to cover the budget shortfall himself, urging her to beg him, her "ex-boyfriend."
Disgusted, Chen Mumu splashed a glass of red wine on his face, accusing him of being excessively inappropriate and a disgrace to the industry, stating she had finally seen his true colors and that he would eventually be abandoned by the industry. After returning home, Chen Mumu saw Jin Chuan's note but ignored it. Jin Ayin and Xiang Qinyu enjoyed a romantic outing. Jin Ayin, wanting him to sing, playfully threatened to get angry if he refused.
Xiang Qinyu admitted he was tone-deaf and had stopped singing after childhood, trying to mollify her. As they embraced, Xiang Qinyu’s hand once again began to turn transparent, and Jin Ayin noticed. She became distraught, weeping and pleading with him not to leave. Xiang Qinyu confessed that this phenomenon had first occurred when Jin Ayin confessed her feelings to him in the flower garden, which was why he had seemed to reject her then.
He apologized for causing her pain and vowed to fight to stay with her. Xiang Qinyu expressed that regardless of whether he succeeded in remaining in her time or had to return to his own, he wanted Jin Ayin to continue being her joyful self and pursue her dream of becoming rich.
He told her that meeting her had given his life profound meaning, and he loved her, reiterating his love multiple times as they shared a kiss on the balcony. Later, as Jin Ayin slept, Xiang Qinyu resolved to find evidence to expose Ma Zehao before his inevitable departure, ensuring Ma Zehao could not harm anyone else. He also called his mother, warning her to be cautious of strangers visiting their home.
