Ji Man, while researching a new formula, discovered that the price of medicinal ingredients had increased so drastically that common people could no longer afford them. Gui Bai reported to Ning Yuxuan that after Ji Man visited the Guihai Ship, two of its officers set sail, likely to procure both face cream materials and medicine.

Realizing the cargo would pass through the wharf—an area where authority was split between Wang Jinyao's Sea Trade Guild and Yuan Lang's Dragon Gang—Ning Yuxuan decided it was time to officially meet the new gang leader. Ning Yuxuan met with Yuan Lang and pointed out a suspicious coincidence: a Tea Gang tattoo was found on the deceased Shen Liancheng's arm in the exact same spot where Yuan Lang now had a fresh injury.

He suggested other Dragon Gang members might also be part of the Tea Gang. Yuan Lang denied any knowledge of the Tea Gang and proposed a wager: if his arm was free of any tattoo, Ning Yuxuan must publicly apologize and never bother the Dragon Gang again. Ning Yuxuan agreed. Yuan Lang unwrapped his arm, revealing only a wound and no tattoo. Ning Yuxuan formally apologized but remained suspicious and ordered Gui Bai to continue monitoring Yuan Lang.

Later, in private, Yuan Lang revealed to his men, Zhao Long and Zhao Hu, that he did have the tattoo but had deliberately cut his own arm to destroy the evidence. He dismissed their suggestion to openly confront Ning Yuxuan, stating that the Dragon Gang was not yet strong enough and that his true goal was to lead his people down a righteous path. His meeting was interrupted by a summons from Wang Jinyao.

Meanwhile, apothecary owners complained to Wang Jinyao that Ji Man was undercutting them with cheap herbs. Wang’s suggestion to vandalize her distributors was dismissed, as county officials were now patrolling the area. Wang then brought the merchants to Ning Yuxuan, accusing Ji Man of disrupting the market. Ning Yuxuan countered by questioning the guild's unreasonable forty-percent price hike and defended Ji Man's actions as beneficial to the public, dismissing their complaints.

Frustrated, Wang Jinyao met with Yuan Lang and proposed a plan to stop Ji Man. Citing the recent scourge of pirates, he suggested that Ji Man's cargo ships could be "intercepted." He entrusted this task to Yuan Lang as a test of loyalty, telling his subordinate that if Yuan Lang would betray his friend, he could be trusted as an ally. Yuan Lang accepted the mission.

At Haoxue Cosmetics, Ji Man happily calculated that the new, cheaper herbs would not only make medicine affordable for the public but also lower the cost of her Feiwan Face Cream by twenty percent. Her hopeful mood was shattered when Sang Shen burst in with news that their cargo ship had been robbed by pirates.

Unable to find Ning Yuxuan at the magistrate's office, Ji Man desperately sought help from Yuan Lang, believing his gang's knowledge of the sea could help track the cargo. Yuan Lang, who had secretly intercepted the goods and hidden Ji Man’s portion to be returned later, feigned ignorance and agreed to help, deliberately leading her on a search into the mountains. Concurrently, Ning Yuxuan's inspection at the docks uncovered Ji Man's stolen herbs hidden in barrels of guano.

After arresting the warehouse keeper, he was informed by Sang Shen and Muxu that Ji Man had gone with Yuan Lang. Alarmed, Ning Yuxuan raced to the mountains. He found them near a village, where Ji Man explained that Yuan Lang was helping her search. Having already recovered the goods, Ning Yuxuan accused Yuan Lang of staging the robbery and luring Ji Man away. Yuan Lang denied everything, promising to investigate.

After he left, Ning Yuxuan warned Ji Man to stay away from the complex gang leader, prompting a playful accusation of jealousy from her. Later, Yuan Lang met with Wang Jinyao, falsely reporting that he had seized the cargo and disposed of the crew. Deceived and pleased by this apparent loyalty, Wang granted Yuan Lang the Sea Trade Guild token, cementing their new alliance. Ning Yuxuan accompanied Ji Man to the nearby impoverished village.

They distributed supplies but were met with initial hostility from an old woman who called them bad omens, though other villagers gratefully accepted their help. They learned that most of the village men were away working at sea, leaving their families in dire straits. When Ji Man asked Ning Yuxuan to fix a broken table, his clumsy efforts resulted in a minor injury and a villager's comment about needing a hardworking husband.

Spurred on, Ning Yuxuan took on various chores, earning the villagers' praise. That evening, during a bonfire celebration, Ji Man encouraged him to join the dancing, helping him overcome his hesitation and suggesting it was time for his emotional wounds to heal along with his physical ones.
