New Life Begins Episode 6 Recap
> New Life Begins Recap
At the banquet, Li Wei teamed up with several new wives to prepare delicacies from their hometowns. The Lord was very pleased and promised her a reward. Li Wei showed no interest in gold or jewels, only asking to be allowed to reunite with her family after the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Lord, being open-minded, agreed. As the banquet officially began, each prince and their wives offered toasts to the Lord and Lady of the region.
But Yin Zheng seemed distracted and a little downcast. Seeing that he kept glancing toward Lady He, Li Wei suggested they go toast her together. Yin Zheng felt even more sorrowful, knowing that his mother would not want him to approach. As the moon quietly climbed over the mountain, the family banquet concluded. Back in her hometown, Li Wei would always prepare a barbecue after such feasts.
Even though she was now in Xinchuan, she wanted to keep up the tradition. After the palace banquet, she took Yuping and Yuzhan to the courtyard to grill meat. Unexpectedly, the fire grew out of control, and it took a long struggle to extinguish the flames. Just as they thought the danger was over, Lady He appeared, looking stern and intense, as if she would devour someone alive.
In the hall, Song Wu fanned the flames and hinted at punishing Li Wei. Only then did Li Wei realize that Song Wu was the one causing trouble behind the scenes. The two argued in front of Lady He, giving her a splitting headache. In the end, Lady He ordered Li Wei to be punished. As the paddle was about to fall, Lady of the region suddenly entered and stopped it.
Although she spared Li Wei the punishment, she also revoked the Lord’s reward. This meant Li Wei could not reunite with her family. When she tried to plead with the Lady, she was stopped by Lady He, and even Yin Zheng almost got punished because of her. Li Wei returned to the residence in despair, locked herself in her room, and cried silently. Yin Zheng came to comfort her and brought a bowl of longevity noodles.
If not for Su Shen, Li Wei wouldn’t have known the noodles were actually prepared for Yin Zheng himself—Mid-Autumn was his birthday. The next day, Li Wei personally went to the kitchen and prepared a large feast to belatedly celebrate his birthday. To her surprise, the birthday boy had also prepared a big gift for her. Seeing her parents and younger brother, Li Wei was so happy she almost jumped with joy. At night, the family sat together, endlessly chatting.
Though she had endured a lot in Xinchuan, seeing her family brought her tears of joy. But she didn’t want them to worry and only shared happy stories. To avoid suspicion, she had to share a room with Yin Zheng. Perhaps that night, something subtly shifted in both of their hearts. Meanwhile, Yin Qi had specially prepared spicy mooncakes for Shangguan Jing, making her beam with joy.
But unexpectedly, Yin Qi brought up the idea of taking a concubine, which enraged Shangguan Jing enough to return to her parents’ home. When the Lord heard about it, he flew into a rage and ordered Yin Qi to go to Danchuan personally to bring her back. Knowing Yin Qi might fail, he instructed Yin Zheng to go along and inspect the flood situation in Danchuan. After days of travel, the group finally arrived in Danchuan.
The streets were bustling, and both men and women seemed free and lively. Li Wei admired the customs, but Yin Qi was terrified. At the inn, he was overwhelmed by the spiciness of the food and shocked by women loudly scolding their husbands in the street. As he tried to escape, a commanding “Stop! ” came from behind. It was Danchuan’s Palace Attendant, Situ Jin, there to welcome them.
