New Life Begins Episode 5 Recap
> New Life Begins Recap
The nanny ordered Li Wei and Shangguan Jing to be tied up and had them severely beaten. After the twenty strokes were delivered, Yin Zheng and Yin Qi rushed over. The nanny attempted to denounce Li Wei in front of Yin Zheng, but unexpectedly, Yin Zheng looked stern and rebuked her for deliberately making things difficult. After saying this, he walked straight to Li Wei, picked her up, and left the inner courtyard.
Back at the residence, Li Wei felt extremely wronged. Even though she knew the family letter couldn’t be sent, she still wanted to write. As she was writing, Yin Zheng came in. When she heard that Yin Zheng had been fined a month's allowance and made to kneel at the ancestral hall because of her, Li Wei felt deeply guilty. However, Yin Zheng didn’t mind and said directly that it wasn’t her fault.
Li Wei couldn't help but recall her childhood, when she climbed trees to pick locust flowers during private school and her mother had to be called in. But her mother had told the teacher not to stifle a child's interests. Yin Zheng took off Li Wei’s shoes and socks, placed her feet on his lap, opened a bottle of medicine, and carefully applied it for her.
Li Wei was moved; she remembered how her mother had done the same when she fell from a locust tree as a child. Watching Yin Zheng gently apply the medicine, Li Wei couldn’t help but say that he really resembled her mother. Yin Zheng found her words odd and knocked gently on her forehead. After learning of the incident, Yin Song didn’t seem to care much but reminded Hao Jia not to get too close to the Sixth Prince’s people.
When Yin Song called Li Wei improper, Hao Jia immediately wanted to defend her but was sternly interrupted. Seeing this, Zhao Fangru quickly offered some fresh tea and invited Yin Song to her room that night. Yin Song agreed. Hao Jia suddenly realized that all along, she had seen herself as a working servant, but in truth, she was merely a pet in Yin Song’s hand.
The flood disaster in Danchuan affected the people's livelihood and was a major concern for the Lord. If Yin Zheng could resolve this urgent issue, it would be a great step in his career. The Grand Tutor saw a puppy and couldn’t help but remind Yin Zheng not to be swayed by romantic feelings. Yin Zheng disagreed, saying that protecting a wife others didn’t think much of was even more interesting.
Meanwhile, Li Wei, concerned about Yin Zheng’s stomach problems, had developed many stomach-friendly recipes for him. One day, she overheard talk about the Danchuan flood and shared her thoughts based on her years in the countryside, which gave Yin Zheng some inspiration. The Lord was very pleased with Yin Zheng’s proposal but raised a new question—he wanted to transport supplies to Danchuan via the waterway.
Yin Zheng felt the plan was flawed but didn’t know how to point out the Lord’s mistake. When Li Wei heard about it, she encouraged Yin Zheng to be open, since the Lord was not only his ruler but also his family. After considering, Yin Zheng decided to follow her advice. Before he left that day, Li Wei, seeing he was still nervous, handed him a piece of candy.
Yin Zheng instinctively leaned forward and ate it right out of her hand. The atmosphere turned intimate, but with others nearby, it became awkward. After returning to the residence, Yin Zheng locked himself in his room. Li Wei was worried he had been scolded by the Lord. As she felt guilty, Yin Zheng came out and told everyone the Lord was very pleased with what he had said.
The gloom on Li Wei’s face vanished instantly, and she began thinking about preparations for the Mid-Autumn Festival. A few days later, there was a family banquet in the palace. Li Wei locked herself in the kitchen, busy making pastries for the banquet.
