Shangguan Jing learned of Yin Qi’s sentencing from An Xiyuan. That night, she snuck into the detention chamber and was nearly held accountable. Fortunately, Li Wei and the others arrived in time to prevent disaster. After calming down, Shangguan Jing realized she had probably fallen into An Xiyuan’s trap. Madam Chun, dressed in plain clothes, knelt outside the grand hall for a long time before being allowed to see the lord.

Seeing that he had no intention of pardoning the fifth prince, Madam Chun offered a compromise: if punishment was necessary, then strip Yin Qi of his noble status and banish him as a commoner, never to return to court. This would ensure he could never hold office or become crown prince. For a prince, this was a devastating blow, but to Madam Chun, keeping her son alive mattered more than anything.

When Shangguan Jing learned of this, she hurried to the prison and gently comforted Yin Qi. At first, he was shocked by the news, but he didn’t show any sadness, instead laughing and joking as usual, afraid Shangguan Jing would worry about him. But how could Shangguan Jing not see that he was forcing a smile? She took out a few candies and handed them to him, hoping to bring him a bit of sweetness.

Time passed unknowingly until the jailer entered, urging her to leave. The two parted reluctantly, their eyes never leaving each other. The lord personally came to the prison gate to fetch the fifth prince and asked what he had reflected on during his time inside. The fifth prince seemed to have genuinely figured things out and declared he had done nothing wrong. Yin Qi clearly understood that the lord merely saw him as a disposable piece.

But what he couldn’t comprehend was how a father could treat his own son this way. The lord was furious and left in a rage. The next morning, the lord ordered the closure of the Gourmet Society. The ladies were both angry and worried, but could only bide their time and wait for a chance. However, troubles came one after another—just after Yin Qi was stripped of his title, he was expelled from the prince’s residence.

The tenth prince, emboldened by his backers, came to Yin Qi’s residence, bossing people around. Shangguan Jing couldn’t tolerate it any longer; she grabbed her long spear and knocked him to the ground. Unexpectedly, the tenth prince wouldn’t let it go and claimed that Yin Qi still had feelings for Hao Jia. Shangguan Jing was furious and hurled the spear at him. Terrified, the tenth prince fled, rolling and crawling while screaming for his mother.

With the Gourmet Society shut down, the ladies’ savings would only last for two months. Seeing Yin Zheng and Yuan Ying looking distressed, Li Wei smiled and tried to comfort them, saying everything would be fine. But once she returned to her room, she shed her cheerful facade and quietly bore the burden. Yin Zheng and Yuan Ying were well aware of what Li Wei was feeling.

They specially asked Su Shen and Liu Baoquan to bring her calming incense and a late-night snack. Li Wei was overjoyed and her smile returned. Yin An also knew that Yin Song didn’t dare to orchestrate the counterfeit case himself; he was merely profiting from it. But Yin Zheng was determined to reclaim justice from Yin Song and make him take responsibility for his actions. However, he worried that he might end up like the fifth prince.

The only thing he couldn’t let go of was Li Wei. Yin Zheng told Li Wei that even if he captured the culprit through his private investigation, he could still be punished and demoted to a commoner. Li Wei didn’t mind. To her, that wasn’t a bad outcome. She even reassured Yin Zheng that she could support him. Hearing that, Yin Zheng couldn’t help but smile.

Li Wei, slightly annoyed, asked what he was laughing at and proudly declared that her family had a mu and a half of farmland. As she listed her family's property, Yin Zheng couldn’t help but laugh and said he’d follow her lead. But soon, their expressions grew heavy. As Yin Zheng was about to leave, Li Wei called out to him, telling him to come back no matter what—she would be waiting for him at home. They held each other tightly, unwilling to let go.
