New Life Begins Episode 25 Recap
> New Life Begins Recap
Hao Jia awoke from a nightmare and immediately heard the baby's cries. A maid came running with the child so that Hao Jia could breastfeed. But Hao Jia was distraught—she had just dreamt of blood flowing from her belly and had no mind to nurse. She tearfully begged the maid to take the baby away. Hao Jia was tormented by nightmares and in utter despair, while Yin Song leisurely practiced calligraphy.
Upon hearing that Hao Jia had been crying every day recently, Yin Song, despite her being a new mother, decided to send her to live in the side room. At that moment, the baby's cries rang out, and Yin Song, losing interest, crumpled his paper and declared he would send the newborn daughter to the palace.
Zhao Fangru quickly tried to stop him, saying she was willing to raise the child and ensure she would be married off with dignity as the legitimate eldest daughter. Hearing this, Yin Song sneered, muttering that the two of them could never have a child together. Zhao Fangru overheard this and, recalling many past incidents, began to suspect that perhaps her years of infertility had been secretly orchestrated by Yin Song.
Upon returning, Zhao Fangru immediately instructed her maid to investigate. As it turned out, just as she had suspected, Yin Song had been secretly putting contraceptive herbs in her soup for years. Zhao Fangru laughed and cried at once, realizing that Yin Song’s sweet words were merely sugar-coated poison. She felt utterly foolish for being kept in the dark all these years and for blaming herself for not bearing him a child.
Her hands trembling, she drank the soup in one gulp. Li Wei was deeply worried when she learned Hao Jia had been put under confinement. After much thought, she went to plead with Lady He for help. Seeing Li Wei speaking up for Hao Jia, Lady He couldn’t help but feel emotional. If she had once had such a sister by her side, perhaps she wouldn't be estranged from her own son today.
Though she gave no verbal response to Li Wei, she had already decided to help them. Yin Zheng had been waiting outside the door. When he saw Li Wei come out with a dejected expression, he wasn’t surprised. For as long as he could remember, his mother had always treated him with a cold face, as if he were an enemy.
Li Wei took Yin Zheng's hand and comforted him, suggesting perhaps Lady He had suffered from the same illness as Hao Jia. Just then, the nanny by Lady He’s side arrived, saying she would accompany them to the Second Prince’s residence. Upon arriving, the nanny immediately questioned Yin Song about why Hao Jia was under confinement. Yin Song seemed prepared and immediately ordered someone to bring Hao Jia over. Hao Jia slowly walked in.
Aside from her pale face, she looked the same as usual. She reassured her sisters that she was fine and told them not to visit again. Once everyone had left, Hao Jia finally exploded with pent-up frustration and exposed Yin Song's emotional wounds. She said he only tortured her to gain a sense of control because he was powerless in court. Enraged, Yin Song grabbed Hao Jia by the neck and mocked that she still relied on him to survive.
Hao Jia collapsed to the floor, her body feeling light and soft, as if it might float away with the wind. On the way back, Li Wei felt that something was wrong with Hao Jia. After much deliberation, she decided to return to check on her. As she reached the door, she heard the maid scream that Hao Jia had attempted suicide. Li Wei rushed in without hesitation and saved her.
The doctor examined Hao Jia and said she had been in the water too long and likely wouldn't make it. Li Wei, in tears, begged the doctor to save her. The doctor quickly helped her up and told her to find Imperial Physician Xu. But Xu was a royal physician, and it seemed inappropriate to seek him out at that time.
Still, with a life at stake, Li Wei couldn’t afford to worry about propriety and ran to seek an audience with the Lord. Meanwhile, the Fifth Prince had already taken a spear to the imperial medical bureau and brought Physician Xu. The group brought him to the Second Prince’s residence but was blocked by Yin Song. He shouted for someone to take Physician Xu back to the palace.
At the same time, several guards stood before Yin Song with swords, blocking everyone else. To everyone’s surprise, the usually meek Yin Qi suddenly mustered strength and rebuked the guards, ordering them to leave. In desperation, Li Wei pleaded with Yin Song to let her save Hao Jia. Unexpectedly, Yin Song became even angrier, declaring that Hao Jia was his and only he could decide whether she lived or died.
Hearing this, Li Wei disregarded all propriety and loudly retorted that Hao Jia was a living person, not one of his possessions. Yin Song stepped forward to insult Hao Jia, causing Li Wei to flush with rage and slap him across the face. As Yin Song raised his hand to retaliate, Yin Zheng arrived just in time to restrain him. Only then could Physician Xu enter the residence.
Inside the room, Zhao Fangru stayed by Hao Jia’s side, trying to scold her awake. But Physician Xu shook his head, signaling her efforts were in vain. Zhao Fangru looked at the baby in the swaddling cloth, her heart aching. Just then, Hao Jia slowly regained consciousness. Everyone was overjoyed and rushed in to care for her. After a long night, the sun slowly rose, illuminating the land—and warming Hao Jia’s heart.
