Always on the Move Episode 23 Recap
> Always on the Move Recap
Due to a significant increase in passenger volume during the Spring Festival travel season, the train's shock absorber spring became severely compressed, preventing the train from moving. A railroad officer pushed through the packed crowd to report the situation. A decision was made to have some passengers disembark and arrange for the station to accommodate those who were stranded, and no new passengers would be allowed to board at subsequent stops.
The officer managed to exit the carriage, assisting fellow railroad officers in helping passengers get off so the train could finally depart. Inside the carriages, the overcrowding was extreme, making it difficult to move or even reach the facilities. The toilets were full, with people desperately needing access. One passenger, visibly agitated and clutching his stomach, suddenly climbed onto the luggage rack and began yelling that someone was trying to kill him, demanding help.
Railroad officers Wang Xin and Ma Kui responded to the commotion. The man on the rack was highly emotional, pointing erratically throughout the carriage. Wang Xin calmly tried to persuade him to come down. As the man finally started to descend, he slipped and hit his head hard on a seat armrest.
Wang Xin immediately noticed the large amount of money the man was carrying and quickly understood that he had faked the incident out of fear of being robbed, having not slept properly for days. The man confessed his fear and apologized for causing a disturbance, explaining his long, difficult journey home with his savings.
Wang Xin arranged for him to rest in the sleeper car area, reassuring him that it was safer and advising him to sleep but not too deeply. Ma Kui observed the handling of the situation and remarked that Wang Xin was becoming more and more like him. The intense crowding on the train inevitably led to friction and arguments among passengers.
In one instance, an elderly man, unable to reach the toilet due to the crowd, resorted to relieving himself into a plastic bag in the carriage, explaining he couldn't hold it any longer. In another incident, people trying to use the toilet found it occupied by passengers who had squeezed inside to eat because there was no space elsewhere. An argument erupted, with people outside demanding entry and accusing those inside of being shameless for eating in the toilet.
The people inside defended their choice due to the lack of space. The dispute escalated, and someone outside threw a bag containing urine onto the passengers in the toilet, leading to a physical fight just as Wang Xin and Ma Kui arrived. Wang Xin and Ma Kui intervened, separating the fighting passengers and taking them to the dining car to mediate.
They addressed the elderly man first, acknowledging his difficult situation but gently advising him against urinating in the carriage in the future. Then they turned to the toilet dispute, criticizing the passenger who threw the urine while also pointing out that those who occupied the toilet to eat were also in the wrong, causing inconvenience to others. After hearing both sides, Ma Kui told them they were equally at fault and should apologize to each other.
Both parties eventually offered apologies. In another part of the carriage, a male passenger fell asleep and leaned his head onto the shoulder of a female passenger next to him. The woman, feeling his face pressed against her, mistook him for a hooligan and sought out Wang Xin and Ma Kui. The man explained he was simply asleep and didn't mean to lean on her, noting that she had pushed him when he woke up.
The woman, however, was indignant and threatened him. Ma Kui quickly diffused the situation by explaining it was a misunderstanding caused by the crowded conditions and told them to be more understanding and apologize to each other. At home, Ma Kui was sewing a button for Peng Yongli's shirt. Ma Yan commented on his sudden needlework skills, attributing them to his years of living alone and jokingly accused him of being jealous.
Peng Yongli returned home from her exams early and affectionately called Ma Kui Godfather. Noticing his shoulder pain, she offered to give him a massage, insisting she wouldn't consider him her godfather if he refused. While massaging him, she mentioned that a classmate's parents, who were not in good health, needed sleeper tickets for a trip from Ningyang to Chunlin and asked if he could help arrange them. Ma Kui readily agreed, which visibly annoyed Ma Yan.
Later, Ma Kui gave Peng Yongli some money and grain coupons for her return to school, further irritating Ma Yan, who pointed out that Peng Yongli's father was a warden and she didn't need the supplies. Ma Kui insisted it was for her peace of mind while traveling. Meanwhile, Wu Changgui began experiencing severe redness and tearing in his eyes, with his vision becoming blurry.
Despite his wife's urging to visit the railway hospital, he dismissed his condition, claiming it was just inflammation he could treat with eye drops bought elsewhere. He seemed reluctant to seek official treatment, perhaps fearing it would affect his job. His wife continued to worry as his condition worsened.
Ma Yan attempted to buy Ma Kui new shoes, but he refused, citing the cost and insisting his old work shoes were fine, prompting Ma Yan to accuse him of being cheap with himself but generous with Peng Yongli. He maintained his stance and returned home without buying shoes. Later, at home, while enjoying the fish Ma Yan had bought, Ma Kui asked Peng Yongli about her classmate's parents' journey.
Peng Yongli explained that the intended conductor, Li, had been replaced by Wang Yongge due to an emergency. She said her classmate's parents had given Wang Yongge the note, but he had told them the recreational car had no bunks and sent them to the dining car for the entire night, making them stand or sit up.
Upon hearing Wang Yongge's name and how the passengers had been treated despite his note, Ma Kui fell silent, a deep-seated resentment for Wang Yongge evident. Separately, Niu Dali visited Wu Changgui's home to invite him to watch television. Wu Changgui refused, making excuses about being sleepy. The next morning, Niu Dali returned, confused by Wu's constant sleeping. He found Wu Changgui wearing sunglasses inside the house during the daytime.
Wu claimed he wore them to block out the light so he could sleep better during the day to compensate for not sleeping at night. When Niu Dali inquired further about his eyes, Wu became defensive and paranoid, accusing Niu Dali of wanting his job and hoping he would go blind. Wu insisted his eyes were still sharp. Niu Dali left, puzzled and concerned, while Wu Changgui continued to express suspicion towards him to his wife.
