Yuxia was traveling by train to Hacheng. Song Chaohua was with her, not her fiancé Lu Xuelin. Song got off the train partway through the journey, and they shared an emotional farewell. However, Song returned, wanting to spend more time with her, and they lingered by the carriage door, reluctant to part. When the train arrived at Hacheng, Yuxia disembarked alone. Lu Xuelin was waiting on the platform, and the two left together.

Song Chaohua watched them go, his heart heavy. Wang Xin and Ma Kui observed the scene, having noticed Yuxia and Song's unusual closeness earlier. Wang Xin felt negatively about Yuxia, but Ma Kui expressed understanding for the difficulties of long-distance relationships, stating it's not easy to live in two different places. As the train approached the station, a passenger, Little Wenzhou, realized the woven bag under his seat was gone. It contained sunglasses he had bought from the south.

He frantically sought help from Wang Xin, describing his bag as blue and white striped with the character 'horse' on it, and explaining his goods were inside. Wang Xin quickly got off the train to search and identified a suspicious individual carrying a similar bag. He chased the man down and apprehended him, recovering the bag. The bag contained sunglasses and their cases.

Little Wenzhou, grateful, insisted on giving Wang Xin a pair of sunglasses, expressing his need to repay the kindness. Wang Xin initially refused, stating it was his duty and he would be making a mistake if he accepted. However, seeing Little Wenzhou's insistence, Wang Xin accepted the sunglasses. He hoped for praise from Ma Kui for his actions, but instead received a stern lecture.

Ma Kui questioned his professionalism, suggesting that accepting the gift amounted to receiving gratuity while in uniform, and told Wang Xin to look in the mirror and ask if he looked like a police officer. Wang Xin protested that Little Wenzhou insisted, but Ma Kui made it clear that being in uniform meant he couldn't just take things. Wang Xin stated he would pay Little Wenzhou back for the sunglasses.

Niu Dali and Yao Yuling each received anonymous love poems inviting them to see a movie at Red Star Cinema at four in the afternoon. Yao Yuling believed the invitation was from Wang Xin and dressed up excitedly for the date. However, when she arrived, she found Niu Dali waiting for her. Niu Dali was equally confused, insisting the letter he received was from her.

Yao, thinking Wang Xin had sent Niu Dali in his place, went to confront Wang Xin, who was completely unaware of the letters. Niu Dali returned home dejected. Yao Yuling then realized Niu Dali had written the letters to her. She suspected Ma Yan was trying to play matchmaker between her and Niu Dali and angrily confronted Ma Yan, who vehemently denied it. Wang Xin was present and defended Ma Yan.

Ma Kui saw the love poems and immediately recognized the handwriting as Cai Xiaonian's, pointing out the distinctive way he wrote the character 'nian' in his own name on the letters. Wang Xin, Niu Dali, Yao Yuling, and Ma Yan went to find Cai Xiaonian and demand an explanation. Cai Xiaonian readily admitted to writing the letters, explaining that he was trying to help Niu Dali and Yao Yuling get together, believing it was a good match.

Niu Dali was angry and yelled at Cai Xiaonian, rejecting his efforts. Wang Xin commented on Ma Kui's impressive ability to recognize handwriting, and Ma Kui responded sharply, reminding Wang Xin that a police officer should have sharp observation and memory, contrasting it with Wang Xin's initial confusion about the poems. Yao Yuling's mother arrived by train from their hometown, bringing a lot of homemade food, including salted fish.

Yao invited Wang Xin to join them and shared the food with her colleagues in the yard. Later, in their room, Yao's mother praised Wang Xin to Yao, commenting on his good looks, polite demeanor, and decent job. Learning that Wang Xin's father was a deputy superintendent, she strongly encouraged Yao to pursue a relationship with him. That evening, Niu Dali visited, having heard Yao's mother was visiting.

He awkwardly offered help, but Yao quickly sent him away, saying they didn't need anything. After Niu Dali left, her mother observed that he seemed interested in Yao, but upon learning he was a stoker, she reiterated her opinion that he had no future and urged Yao to focus on Wang Xin. Ma Kui was off duty, and Wang Xin was working alone on the train.

A passenger, Liu Guiying, approached him in distress, claiming her four-year-old son was missing, describing him as having a round face and thick eyebrows, wearing a white shirt and a yellow coat. The carriage was very crowded, and Wang Xin searched diligently through the passengers. As the train pulled into Beiling Station, Wang Xin spotted a suspicious man carrying a child who matched the description getting off the train. Acting quickly, Wang Xin jumped off and pursued the man.

With the assistance of the station police, he apprehended the man and secured the child, who appeared to be sedated. Liu Guiying took the child to the hospital. Back on the train, Cai Xiaonian congratulated Wang Xin on catching a trafficker, and the captain planned to report his commendable actions for recognition. However, shortly after, a missing child notification arrived from the Guandong Street Police Station.

The notice described a four-year-old boy lost near Guandong Street, matching the child Wang Xin had recovered. Wang Xin was shocked, realizing he had acted too impulsively and given the possibly sedated child to Liu Guiying without properly verifying her identity. When Ma Kui learned what happened, he immediately suspected Liu Guiying was a human trafficker and sternly told Wang Xin to write a detailed report of the incident.

Despite his disappointment, Ma Kui promised to speak to the leadership on Wang Xin's behalf, hoping his apprehension of the male suspect might mitigate the consequences of his error. Wang Xin was deeply upset by his mistake and lay on his bed, despondent. Ma Yan came to invite him to see the movie "Manhunt," starring Ken Takakura, which she knew he wanted to see, but he was not in the mood.

Yao Yuling then arrived, expressing concern and asking if he was alright. Seeing Yao, Ma Yan forcefully tried to make her leave, saying she wanted to talk to Wang Xin alone. Yao insisted on staying and pounded on the door after Ma Yan went inside. Annoyed by the commotion, Wang Xin opened the door, pushed Ma Yan out, and refused to let either of them in, leaving both women outside feeling dejected.

Learning from Ma Yan that Wang Xin was sulking in his room, Ma Kui went to see him and splashed cold water on him to shake him out of his despondency. Ma Kui told him that making a mistake was acceptable, but lying there feeling sorry for himself served no purpose. He emphasized that a man owns his mistakes and can change. Driven by this, Wang Xin vowed to find the child he had inadvertently returned to the suspected trafficker.

He decided to draw a portrait of Liu Guiying from memory to aid the search, stating he needed to remember her face. Seeing him draw, Yao Yuling asked if he would draw a portrait of her. Wang Xin hesitated, expressing concern he might not do a good job, but Yao insisted, saying she liked his drawing and that as long as it was his drawing, it would be good.

He agreed, deciding to draw her with her hair down, and quickly sketched her portrait without looking at her, saying he knew what she looked like because she was "in his heart." Yao was delighted with the drawing, finding it remarkably accurate, and then offered him tickets to the "Manhunt" movie again, suggesting it might even help him with his case. Wang Xin accepted the offer. As they left, Yao commented that the actor Ken Takakura wasn't as handsome as Wang Xin.
