My Mr. Mermaid Episode 15 Recap
> My Mr. Mermaid Recap
After winning the 100-meter freestyle and breaking a record, Tang Yibai's coach, Coach Wu, shared a personal story about his past and urged Tang Yibai to never lose to Qi Ruifeng in future competitions, asserting that he trained the most outstanding swimmer. Yun Duo then prepared to leave the celebration, declining Tang Yibai's offer to send her home, as she needed to return to her company first.
Coach Wu later revealed to Tang Yibai that his mother had been complaining about Tang Yibai skipping a blind date because she missed him. Encouraged by Lingye, Coach Wu then gave Tang Yibai a night off and returned his phone, telling him to go home and spend time with his family. Tang Yibai and Yun Duo exchanged texts. Yun Duo confirmed she was almost home and inquired if Coach Wu had returned his phone.
Tang Yibai replied that he had, as he was going home to visit family. Shortly after, upon arriving at his seemingly empty home, Tang Yibai went to take a shower. Meanwhile, Yun Duo also arrived at her new rented apartment, intending to use a face mask. As she entered the bathroom, she was shocked to find Tang Yibai showering inside. Both exclaimed in surprise, and Yun Duo quickly retreated from the room.
It took them a moment to process the astonishing coincidence: Yun Duo had rented Tang Yibai’s own room, and Tang Yibai was the "unfilial son" who seldom returned home, while Qi Ruifeng was the mastermind behind this unexpected arrangement. The confrontation between Tang Yibai and Qi Ruifeng happened over the phone. Tang Yibai called Qi Ruifeng, demanding to know why he had rented his room to Yun Duo.
Qi Ruifeng, however, denied any deliberate intention, insisting it was merely a coincidence orchestrated by fate. Tang Yibai accused Qi Ruifeng of manipulating Coach Wu into giving him a break from training. Qi Ruifeng, in turn, playfully taunted Tang Yibai, suggesting he had secretly entered Yun Duo's room while she was asleep and threatening to tell Tang's mother that Tang Yibai disliked having Yun Duo there, implying Yun Duo would be left homeless.
Tang Yibai, exasperated, conceded on the condition that Qi Ruifeng cease contact with his mother. Despite his annoyance with Qi Ruifeng's meddling, Tang Yibai admitted to Yun Duo that he was happy to help her, as his room was often empty due to his year-long training. Yun Duo expressed concern about where he would sleep, as she was occupying his room. Just then, Tang Yibai's parents, Auntie Lu and his father, arrived.
Auntie Lu immediately began scolding Tang Yibai for his infrequent visits, jokingly asking if he returned just to see if she had been "irritated to death." Tang Yibai tried to explain he only came back because he was in the vicinity for a competition, which further annoyed his mother.
Auntie Lu then declared that if Tang Yibai wouldn't return home more often, he would have to sleep on the sofa or the balcony, prohibiting him from fighting with Yun Duo for the room. Yun Duo, feeling awkward, offered to leave and stay with a friend, but Auntie Lu vehemently insisted she stay, telling her not to sympathize with Tang Yibai, who "had only himself to blame" for his lack of visits.
Auntie Lu even offered Yun Duo a face mask, encouraging her to relax and stay. Later that evening, Yun Duo, worried about Tang Yibai's sleep quality affecting his upcoming competitions, tried to convince him to take the room while she slept on the sofa. Tang Yibai playfully refused, asserting he understood his mother's sarcastic remarks. They playfully wrestled over a pillow, with Tang Yibai teasing Yun Duo about his height advantage.
During their playful struggle, they lost their balance and tumbled onto the sofa, with Yun Duo landing directly on top of Tang Yibai. Their faces were inches apart, and Tang Yibai’s arm was wrapped around her. Yun Duo’s face flushed red, and Tang Yibai's heart pounded as he gazed at her. Just as the moment intensified, they turned to find Tang’s parents standing there, observing them with knowing smiles.
Mortified, Tang Yibai quickly tried to explain that they were "just good friends," but his parents continued to tease them, making it clear they had already drawn their own conclusions about the nature of their "friendship." Ultimately, Yun Duo gave in and slept in Tang Yibai's room. As she settled in, she became acutely aware of his presence everywhere: his study desk, the books he had read, and his childhood photos.
She felt an unprecedented closeness to him, realizing she was living in a space imbued with his history. Her mind, however, kept replaying the image of unexpectedly encountering him in the shower. In his own mind, Tang Yibai was equally restless, replaying the sensation of Yun Duo falling onto him. Both of them tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep until deep into the night. The next morning, Yun Duo joined Auntie Lu in preparing breakfast.
Auntie Lu seized the opportunity to inquire about Yun Duo's relationship with Tang Yibai, asking when they had first met. Yun Duo explained they met through a swimming interview. Auntie Lu, surprised, wondered what was so special about Tang Yibai to warrant an interview.
Yun Duo immediately jumped to his defense, eloquently praising his righteousness, citing his willingness to save someone from drowning, his courage in facing skepticism, and his unwavering dedication to his dreams, even referencing his firm statement about returning to swimming after his four-year ban. She also enthusiastically described his "strong desire to win" when swimming.
Auntie Lu, amused by Yun Duo's fervent admiration, commented that it was the first time she had heard a girl praise her son so much, reminiscing about his childhood "stupid things," like pretending to be Superman and getting stuck in a tree. When Tang Yibai joined them, his father also praised his recent performance.
Yun Duo continued to laud Tang Yibai's talents, particularly how he had turned the tide in the 4x100 team relay and shattered the Dream Cup 100-meter freestyle record. Unable to contain her suspicions, Auntie Lu directly asked if Yun Duo and Tang Yibai were dating. Both strenuously denied it, but Auntie Lu and Tang’s father remained unconvinced, clearly viewing Yun Duo as a potential daughter-in-law.
After breakfast, Auntie Lu feigned a sore arm and requested Tang Yibai and Yun Duo to walk Erbai, their dog, together. As they strolled through the neighborhood, they encountered Tang Yibai's enthusiastic fans, who eagerly requested photos with him. Yun Duo observed his growing popularity with a sense of quiet joy. Tang Yibai, however, expressed a desire to take a photo specifically with Yun Duo, noting that even strangers asked him for pictures while she hadn't.
Yun Duo, blushing, promptly took out her phone, and Tang Yibai put his arm around her for a selfie. He then revealed he had retrieved his phone from Coach Wu while the coach was drunk. After seeing Yun Duo off to her company shuttle, Tang Yibai found himself pondering why he already missed her, despite her having just left.
Tang Yibai's victory had indeed catapulted him to fame, making him a trending topic online and attracting a throng of adoring fans at school, which he found slightly unaccustomed to. His mother, Auntie Lu, visited the school and arrived just as three female fans were expressing their admiration for Tang Yibai. Auntie Lu swiftly intervened, asserting her role as Tang Yibai's mother and playfully accepting gifts on his behalf.
She then publicly declared that her son already had a girlfriend, though she added that the fans were welcome to be friends with him and even visit their home. Tang Yibai, observing the scene, smiled subtly, seemingly quite content with his mother's "lie." Meanwhile, the classroom lights were broken, and Xiang Yangyang struggled to fix them alone with a ladder. Seeing her predicament, Qi Ruifeng rushed over to help, intending to apologize to her.
However, his attempts backfired, only further irritating Yangyang. In his haste, Qi Ruifeng lost his footing and fell from the ladder, only to be caught by Xiang Yangyang. Lingye and other students witnessed the scene, lightheartedly praising Yangyang as a "true man" for her quick action. Due to Tang Yibai’s soaring popularity, Yun Duo also gained more recognition at work.
Director Liu specifically requested her to prepare additional articles and materials about Tang Yibai and promoted her to third place in the reporter rankings. Yun Duo was ecstatic, and Teacher Sun also expressed his delight, as this significant improvement meant Yun Duo had a strong chance of completing her internship successfully and becoming an official reporter for QKVideo.
