My Little Happiness Episode 5 Recap
> My Little Happiness Recap
Grandpa Lin was rushed to the ER with a brain hemorrhage, and Wen Shaoqing quickly arranged surgery. Seeing the operating room brought back memories for Cong Rong of watching her father being wheeled in when she was a child. The bleeding was serious, and Wen Shaoqing asked Zhong Zhen to quickly locate and stop the source. Worried, Cong Rong was told by Wen Shaoqing to go home and rest, and not to blame herself.
Zhong Zhen wanted to sleep, but doctors don’t have that privilege. Wen asked him to help with one task before he could rest. Wen Shaoqing asked Zhong Zhen to find Zhou Chengcheng to comfort Cong Rong, who was likely feeling guilty. Zhou Chengcheng compared the tumor to a scumbag, saying Grandpa Lin’s condition would have happened sooner or later and told Cong Rong not to blame herself. Seeing a photo of Cong Rong sleeping put Wen Shaoqing at ease.
Zhong Zhen realized Wen Shaoqing had feelings for Cong Rong, but kept quiet. Cong Rong went out for a run in the morning, and Wen Shaoqing followed her. He wanted to ask her something but didn’t know how to begin, so instead asked why she wasn’t wearing his clothes. Cong Rong dodged the question, saying she was going shopping. Wen Shaoqing, having a day off, offered to accompany her.
At the supermarket, he picked out an XXL men’s pajama set and asked her to take it home—just in case he needed it someday. Zhou Chengcheng insisted on independence in front of her parents. Her mother thought she was too troublesome, and her father just wanted her to be happy and spend money. When they challenged her to return everything if she was serious, she really brought everything back—the car keys and all the credit cards—showing her determination.
While Wen Rang was rock climbing, a publisher called, saying his poetry book wasn’t profitable and asking him to cover the publishing costs himself, which frustrated him. Zhou Chengcheng, now without a sports car, struggled with walking and happened to see Wen Rang on a bicycle. It felt like a prince riding in to save her. She shamelessly asked for a ride but ended up getting fined by a traffic officer and didn’t even have 50 yuan.
Wen Rang paid the fine, left her the bicycle, and took a taxi. Cong Rong bought daily necessities for Grandpa Lin and visited him in the hospital. She told him the good news that the money had been recovered and left her phone number with him. Wen Shaoqing saw this heartwarming moment. He followed her all the way home and silently watched her enter the apartment safely, without her noticing.
Zhou Chengcheng, who couldn’t ride a bicycle, had to push it home. When she saw Wen Rang eating barbecue, she wanted to scold him for being ungentlemanly but gave in immediately when she saw the food and declared she wanted to open a BBQ restaurant. Cong Rong received a message—Lucy had called for a gathering to hear everyone’s reflections on their internship. She praised Jingjing for her capability and winning a film contract for the law firm.
That night during karaoke, Jingjing talked to Cong Rong, saying she didn’t belong in the law firm because she wasn’t a law major and questioned her relationship with Lawyer Shangguan. Cong Rong replied that her background wasn’t a problem and that she trusted Shangguan Yi’s judgment—she just wanted to stay at the law firm. Grandpa Lin woke up, making Cong Rong ecstatic. She ran over and hugged Wen Shaoqing, finally feeling relieved.
She lamented that if her father had met Wen Shaoqing back then, maybe he could have been saved. Wen Shaoqing took Cong Rong home and stayed until she fell asleep before leaving. The next day, as Cong Rong went to work, she received sweet reminders from Wen Shaoqing. All the stores along her route had their tabs paid, which she thought Zhou Chengcheng had done, only to run into Wen Shaoqing again—reminding her of last night’s hug.
Grandpa Lin made a banner for Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing, and Cong Rong stopped having nightmares. When Cong Rong got home, she found a pile of boxes at her door. Opening one, she discovered a bunch of human bones and was so terrified that she immediately called Zhou Chengcheng for help and stood at the door with an umbrella. Suddenly, someone tapped her on the shoulder—it was Wen Shaoqing, and she screamed in fright.
