Zhou Chengcheng rolled off the bed and accidentally answered a video call from Cong Rong’s mother. Cong Rong’s mother spotted a man near the wardrobe and urged Cong Rong to open it. Thinking quickly, Wen Shaoqing covered his head with clothes, and Cong Rong lied that it was Zhou Chengcheng.
Cong Rong’s mother was curious why the room didn’t look like Cong Rong’s, so Cong Rong explained that they were staying at a rental because Zhou Chengcheng had come to visit. Wanting to join Cong Rong in Australia as soon as possible, her mother quickly enrolled in an English class. They chatted for hours. Wen Shaoqing, sitting cramped in the wardrobe, complained that his legs had gone numb and asked Cong Rong for help.
When she reached over to pull him, he yanked her onto himself and held her. Startled, Cong Rong thought he was going to do something inappropriate, but Wen Shaoqing said he just wanted her to experience the feeling of numb legs. Zhong Zhen came to deliver clothes for Wen Shaoqing. Cong Rong told Wen Shaoqing not to come out to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, but he ignored her and deliberately appeared in pajamas in front of Zhong Zhen.
Zhong Zhen instantly felt like he’d seen something he shouldn’t have. On the drive back, Zhong Zhen mentioned Cong Rong’s past: her mother had firmly opposed her becoming a lawyer and didn’t believe she would like someone like Wen Shaoqing. Wen Shaoqing was confused. Zhong Zhen read out the type of man Cong Rong once described in school as her ideal and teased him for not being gentle or considerate enough.
Wen Shaoqing snatched the notebook, tore out the page, and dropped Zhong Zhen off on the roadside before they reached their destination. Early in the morning, Cong Rong got up, determined to handle Grandpa Lin’s case and prepare breakfast for Zhou Chengcheng before heading to work. Grandpa Lin showed up at the admin office to discuss getting a refund for his hospital admission.
Wen Shaoqing made time to come over and explained that they hadn’t scheduled his surgery yet because of a shortage of hospital beds and because they hadn’t finalized a diagnosis. This time, Wen brought a treatment plan developed with international doctors. Grandpa Lin refused to even look at the plan, saying Wen Shaoqing was too young and inexperienced. He showed a foreign medical report stating he was not ill and demanded a refund and compensation.
Although Grandpa Lin’s words were harsh, Wen Shaoqing still gave a professional response: if Grandpa Lin didn’t undergo surgery soon, his brain tumor might rupture and threaten his life. An elderly man who had vomited at the airport previously came to the hospital with his grandson to deliver a banner in praise of Wen Shaoqing’s excellent medical skills and ethics. Wen quickly took a photo to share with Cong Rong and arranged to meet her in the cafeteria for lunch.
Cong Rong tried to persuade Grandpa Lin not to act impulsively and warned him that the company Xihuantong might be a scam. Grandpa Lin didn’t believe her. He said the man involved was his own son and that being deceived didn’t matter to him. When Zhou Chengcheng woke up, she was worried about the restaurant and rushed over, only to find that the furniture had been sold off and her credit card had been used.
Furious, she went to the hotel and saw Xiao Lu being intimate with another woman—shockingly, the woman was her own receptionist. Xiao Lu didn’t apologize; instead, he publicly belittled Zhou Chengcheng, saying he only pursued her because of her wealth. Angered, Zhou Chengcheng threw a cup of water, but Xiao Lu blocked it and it splashed on her own face. Wen Rang, who was nearby discussing a business deal, couldn't stand it anymore.
He gave Xiao Lu a poetic scolding and then comforted Zhou Chengcheng. Wen Shaoqing realized that Cong Rong hadn’t shown up for lunch and guessed she had gone to Xihuantong Medical Equipment Company. Cong Rong quietly entered the company, saw a group of elderly people being deceived, and snuck into the payment room to cut the POS terminal cable and smudge the payment QR code.
Hiding under a desk, she warned everyone not to pay, revealing that it was a scam company targeting retirees’ pensions. The scammers were furious and dragged her into a small room, intending to harm her—just in time, Wen Shaoqing arrived and took the blow for her. Wen Shaoqing was furious and told Cong Rong to stop putting herself in danger. He was clearly worried but couldn’t express it directly.
Cong Rong felt like he was criticizing her, but she simply couldn’t stand to watch people being scammed. When Wen Shaoqing got injured, Cong Rong helped clean his wound, and the moment made her reflect on the complexity of human relationships. Wen Rang, feeling down because his poetry collection wasn’t popular, went to the riverside to clear his head and coincidentally ran into Zhou Chengcheng. He returned the pink crystal to her. Zhou Chengcheng wanted to throw it away but couldn’t bring herself to do it.
