Cong Rong left a note for Zhou Chengcheng, then followed the volunteer convoy to the quake zone, telling her to remember to lock the door. On the bus, the volunteer instructor assigned tasks: the goal this time was to distribute relief supplies to disaster victims. After arriving, Cong Rong unloaded the supplies by herself and distributed water and food to the victims in an orderly manner.

That evening, she took out her phone and saw that Wen Shaoqing still hadn’t replied. She could only silently pray in her heart. Wen Shaoqing, Chen Cu, and others were performing surgery on the injured inside a tent they had set up. Aftershocks kept coming, and Zhong Zhen suggested they retreat for now, but Wen Shaoqing insisted that the patient was hemorrhaging and needed immediate stitching. After an exhausting night, the surgery was finally completed.

Wen Shaoqing stepped out of the tent for some fresh air. Cong Rong continued on to the next location with the volunteer bus and happened to miss Wen Shaoqing, who was resting with his head down, while she didn’t look out the window. After she got off the bus, another aftershock struck. Someone shouted for help, and without hesitation, Cong Rong ran over to a house that had partially collapsed.

She called out repeatedly, checking for anyone inside, and found a five-year-old boy pinned under a wardrobe. Just as she got up to find someone to help, she saw a familiar face—it was Wen Shaoqing. Without exchanging words, the two rushed to the wardrobe and pulled the boy out. As they were about to leave, a slab from the ceiling came crashing down. Cong Rong yelled, “Watch out! ” and shielded the boy with her own body.

Wen Shaoqing also covered the two of them with his body, and the slab struck his back. Cong Rong was frightened. After they got out of the building, Wen Shaoqing immediately went back to perform another surgery. Before leaving, he said he hoped to see Cong Rong when he came out. Due to a landslide, the road ahead was blocked, so Cong Rong’s bus had to wait in place, which gave her a chance to wait for Wen Shaoqing.

At night, Cong Rong waited under a tree as heavy snow began to fall. Wen Shaoqing appeared in front of her, and the two embraced warmly. He brought her into the car and handed her three love letters, reminding her of how she used to look forward to receiving them. When she saw that the letters appeared blank, Wen Shaoqing shone a flashlight over them, revealing messages written in fluorescent ink. Each one expressed his longing and heartfelt confession.

Moved to tears, Cong Rong cried. As the road cleared, her bus had to continue on. Wen Shaoqing reluctantly kissed her goodbye and watched her leave. After the earthquake relief effort ended, the first group of volunteers, including Wen Shaoqing, received provincial honors and stood on the podium to be welcomed. Zhong Zhen immediately found Cong Rong and gave her a commemorative desk calendar with Wen Shaoqing's award photo.

Wen Shaoqing couldn’t wait to kiss Cong Rong, but Wen Rang appeared with “Rang Yi Rang” and interrupted them. Wen Shaoqing had no choice but to go with Cong Rong back to her room—only to be surprised by Zhou Chengcheng arriving with a cake, creating an awkward moment. Zhou Chengcheng admired Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing, thinking they had been tested through life and death.

Wen Rang teased Zhou Chengcheng, and the two decided to travel to all the places they had once written down. Wen Rang reminded Wen Shaoqing that their grandparents wanted him to bring Cong Rong to meet the family and not to forget Grandma Wen’s favorite blue orchid. Feeling shy, Cong Rong quickly video-called her mother to tell her she would be spending the New Year at Wen Shaoqing’s house. Her mother was fully supportive.

They bought the blue orchid that Grandma Wen liked and prepared a pile of gift boxes. Happily, they visited Wen Shaoqing’s home. Grandma Wen liked Cong Rong very much. She noticed Zhou Chengcheng had arrived early and was happily chatting with Grandpa Wen. Zhou Chengcheng cheerfully introduced Cong Rong to Grandpa Wen. When she called him “Uncle,” Cong Rong nearly made a slip, forgetting that Wen Rang and Wen Shaoqing are uncle and nephew.

Grandpa Wen said he usually didn’t interfere with the younger generation and gave Cong Rong a meeting gift to show his approval of their relationship. The gift was a valuable carving of a mythical beast called Bi’an, symbolizing justice—Cong Rong loved it. The whole family gathered joyfully to make dumplings together. That evening, Wen’s parents returned by plane. The whole family was very pleased with Cong Rong.

Wen’s parents said they planned to stay longer after the New Year and work at Yunjing Hospital with Wen Shaoqing. Wen Rang, gloating, remarked that now Wen Shaoqing would have parental supervision too, which made him feel more balanced. The family watched fireworks together, happily celebrating the New Year.
