Cong Rong’s mother visited her at the hospital and even bought movie tickets, asking Wen Shaoqing to take Cong Rong—hoping to bring the two closer. Unexpectedly, it was a horror movie, and Cong Rong got so scared that she instinctively clung to Wen Shaoqing. Her mother thought her plan had worked, unaware they were only pretending to be a couple and Cong Rong’s actions were just for show.
Before the movie ended, Wen Shaoqing took Cong Rong to climb some stairs, reminiscing about how they used to do it as kids. He carried her in his arms, and they gazed at each other affectionately. Wen Shaoqing wanted to turn their pretend relationship into a real one. Cong Rong said the most important thing to her now was passing the law firm’s presentation, and she wanted to wait until after that to consider being his girlfriend.
Wen Shaoqing said that if she didn’t pass, he’d give himself to her and be her boyfriend. Cong Rong gave silent approval. Back home, Cong Rong’s mother kept asking about her and Wen Shaoqing’s relationship. Cong Rong discovered her computer wasn’t working. Her mother admitted she broke it but suggested borrowing one from Wen Shaoqing. Cong Rong went to Wen Shaoqing’s house and saw him fresh out of the shower, hair still wet, and was mesmerized.
While writing her report, she kept sneaking glances at him. Wen Shaoqing was focused on work and looked incredibly charming, making her steal more looks. He suddenly looked up and caught her staring, and she quickly looked down in embarrassment. Wen Shaoqing came over and deliberately sat next to her. Cong Rong was already bracing herself for a kiss when Zhong Zhen’s QQ message came through, sending her two photos of Wen Shaoqing.
Wen Shaoqing asked if she was following him and even had Zhong Zhen reporting to her. She called Zhong Zhen to scold him, and he realized he had sent the photos to the wrong person—they were meant for Wen Shaoqing’s fan group. The next morning, Cong Rong woke to see Wen Shaoqing making breakfast at her house. He played it up in front of her mother, creating the impression of an intimate relationship. Her mother snapped a photo and wanted to send it to the family chat so everyone would envy her handsome son-in-law. Xiong Jingjing wanted to invite Shangguan to dinner. He was about to decline but saw Cong Rong approaching and agreed, saying he’d treat all the interns. Wen Shaoqing learned Zhong Zhen had secretly taken his photos. Zhong Zhen offered to help him win over Cong Rong—if Wen Shaoqing let him off the hook for his thesis.
Wen Shaoqing agreed, and Zhong Zhen immediately became his informant, tracking Cong Rong’s whereabouts. Following Jingjing’s plan, Cong Rong booked Zhou Chengcheng’s BBQ restaurant for the dinner. Zhou asked Wen Rang to help cook. At the same time, Wen Jiang’s mother was at the bookstore. Zhou helped Wen Jiang dodge her, and his mother reminded Wen Rang to visit home more and not to stay mad at his father, saying there’s no overnight grudge between father and son.
She advised him to seize any chance with a suitable girl, then glanced at Zhou Chengcheng. Seeing Wen Rang’s handsome figure, Zhou Chengcheng was so starry-eyed she nearly forgot her reason for asking him to help. Wen Rang agreed to help in the kitchen. When Jingjing arrived, she didn’t realize it was a buffet and casually took some raw oysters. Shangguan gave everyone a pep talk, hoping they’d perform well in the next day’s presentation.
During the meal, Wen Shaoqing secretly came to pick up Cong Rong and passed her a note. Jingjing noticed and warned her not to “eat from one bowl while thinking of another pot. ” Suddenly, Jingjing had a stomachache, and other interns had the same symptoms. Cong Rong rushed them to the hospital. Tests revealed food poisoning from bacteria. Jingjing’s condition was more severe, and she accused Cong Rong of doing it on purpose.
Shangguan stepped in to defuse the tension. Wen Shaoqing privately asked Shangguan not to let this incident affect Cong Rong’s performance review. Zhou Chengcheng felt very guilty for involving her best friend in the food poisoning incident. She accidentally broke a wine glass and cut her finger. Wen Rang bandaged her up, comforted her, and carried her to bed to rest. Cong Rong and Wen Shaoqing came to help clean up the restaurant.
When Zhou Chengcheng woke up and saw them, she was very touched. She tried to hug Wen Rang, but he was so startled that he dodged, and she ended up hugging Cong Rong instead.
