Having decided to distance himself from Yu Zhouzhou, Lin Yang spent the entire holiday avoiding any mention of her name, even forbidding Jiang Chuan to do so. He became so averse that he refused to eat porridge, simply because its pronunciation was similar to "Zhou." Yu Zhouzhou, for her part, sensed Lin Yang's coldness and knew he was angry. However, unable to reconcile, she resolved to treat him better in the future.

While browsing, Yu Zhouzhou noticed a poster for a newly released film, "The Classic", and expressed interest in seeing it with Mi Qiao. Mi Qiao, who suffered from a heart condition that made intense movies difficult, simply claimed to be afraid of the dark, hoping to conceal the real reason. Unconvinced, Yu Zhouzhou insisted, and they headed to the cinema. While buying tickets, Yu Zhouzhou thought of Lin Yang and decided to call him to invite him.

Unfortunately, Lin Yang was at a cram school. During a break, he left his phone on his desk while asking a teacher a question. When Yu Zhouzhou’s call came through, Xin Rui saw it, hesitated for a moment, and then hung up. After cram school, Xin Rui needed a quiet place to study.

Lin Yang kindly suggested the city library, and Xin Rui then volunteered to arrive early on the weekend to reserve seats for him, knowing he liked to sleep in. Mi Qiao ultimately accompanied Yu Zhouzhou to the movie. As the film's intense scenes unfolded, Mi Qiao's heart became distressed, and her face turned pale. She rushed out for fresh air. Coincidentally, Yu Zhouzhou then received a call from Lin Yang, which momentarily lifted her spirits.

When Yu Zhouzhou went to check on Mi Qiao, she was concerned by her friend's pale complexion. Mi Qiao, however, quickly covered it up, claiming her stomach hurt from eating too much ice cream. The following Saturday morning, Xin Rui arrived at the city library early to reserve seats, but found herself outmatched by stronger male students. Discouraged, she was leaving the library when she encountered Lin Yang.

Upon hearing of her struggle, Lin Yang, with a casual smile, took charge. He found seats that had been reserved with yogurt, promptly drank the yogurt, and paid the original occupants for it, effectively buying the seats. Faced with his audacious move, the others had no choice but to let Lin Yang and Xin Rui sit down. The new semester began with a baseline exam, much to the students' chagrin.

During the test, Xu Zhiqiang attempted to get answers from Xin Rui, but she ignored his attempts. After the exam, Xu Zhiqiang cornered Xin Rui, mocking her. However, Xin Rui was no longer the timid girl she once was; she sharply retorted, telling him his past actions of cheating were irrelevant and that his reminder about being a "poor transient student" only applied to himself. To get back at Xin Rui, Xu Zhiqiang deliberately tore her textbook during Chinese class.

The Chinese teacher, who already had a less-than-favorable impression of Xin Rui, severely reprimanded her. Undeterred, Xin Rui dedicated herself to studying Chinese even harder. In a subsequent class, when asked to recite "A Letter to His Majesty", she performed exceptionally well, earning praise from the teacher and setting an example for her classmates. Yu Zhouzhou tried to invite Lin Yang to the movies. Though he secretly yearned to go, Lin Yang consciously maintained his distance.

He politely declined Yu Zhouzhou, citing his busy schedule with remedial classes and focusing on his studies as "new beginnings" for the semester. This rejection made Yu Zhouzhou realize she had genuinely hurt Lin Yang, regretting her past dismissiveness now that she understood how much he cared. The exam rankings were released, showing Xin Rui's significant academic improvement, which genuinely pleased Yu Zhouzhou. In contrast, Ling Xiangqian's grades had slipped, leaving her visibly upset.

Jiang Chuan, unable to bear seeing Ling Xiangqian unhappy, went to comfort her. Lin Yang witnessed this. Reminded of their earlier pact to ignore both Ling Xiangqian and Yu Zhouzhou, and their mutual deletion of their contact numbers, Lin Yang playfully mocked Jiang Chuan for his lack of resolve. Later that evening, at cram school, Lin Yang congratulated Xin Rui on her impressive academic progress. Encouraged, Xin Rui invited Lin Yang to the movies on Saturday.

The mention of a movie stirred conflicting emotions in Lin Yang, and he declined, offering a vague excuse about having other plans. Later, while playing basketball with Jiang Chuan, both boys were in foul moods due to their romantic troubles. Their frustration quickly escalated into a fight. Jiang Chuan confessed that he couldn't keep his distance from Ling Xiangqian any longer and that avoiding the issue was futile. After considering Jiang Chuan's words, Lin Yang asked to borrow his phone.

He texted Yu Zhouzhou, inviting her to watch a movie on Saturday night and hoping to also clarify "Chen An's matter." Meanwhile, Benben’s friends, having heard about "The Classic" from him, teased him into inviting Yu Zhouzhou to watch it that Saturday night. Benben, knowing their relationship was purely platonic, felt awkward asking her directly. He gave the tickets to Mi Qiao, asking her to extend the invitation to Yu Zhouzhou, confident that Mi Qiao would succeed.

On Saturday, when Mi Qiao called Yu Zhouzhou, she was surprised to learn that Yu Zhouzhou had already made plans to see a movie with Lin Yang that very evening. Mi Qiao immediately rushed to inform Benben, but he was nowhere to be found at the barbecue stall, and his phone was dead. Fearing an embarrassing triple encounter, Mi Qiao hurried to the cinema. Yu Zhouzhou was already waiting at the cinema when Benben unexpectedly arrived.

Seeing her confused expression, Benben realized something was amiss. Just then, Lin Yang walked up, and from their exchange, Benben understood that Yu Zhouzhou and Lin Yang had a date. To defuse the awkward situation, Benben quickly claimed he was a ticket scalper, trying to sell his extra tickets. Just as Lin Yang and Yu Zhouzhou were almost convinced, Mi Qiao arrived with two tickets of her own, blurting out that Benben had invited her, nearly exposing his lie.

Fortunately, Benben's quick wit and Lin Yang and Yu Zhouzhou's willingness not to delve deeper smoothed over the misunderstanding. Benben and Mi Qiao departed, with Mi Qiao explaining the entire mix-up to Benben. To make it up to him, Mi Qiao accompanied him to the movie, making it the first complete film she had seen since she was six years old.

Meanwhile, Lin Yang went to buy tickets for himself and Yu Zhouzhou, only to find that just one ticket remained. As they were about to leave, someone returned a ticket. With two tickets now available, Lin Yang and Yu Zhouzhou entered the theater. To their surprise, they found their seats were on either side of Xin Rui. It turned out Xin Rui had returned the extra ticket. The situation became quite awkward.

Lin Yang quickly texted Yu Zhouzhou to explain that Xin Rui had invited him earlier, but he had declined, and he didn't expect to see her there, asking her not to misunderstand. Yu Zhouzhou replied in kind, asking him not to misunderstand her, specifically regarding Chen An. The mention of Chen An agitated Lin Yang, but it was not the time for such a discussion. After the movie, Lin Yang offered to walk Yu Zhouzhou home, but she politely declined.

Lin Yang and Xin Rui then left separately. Once alone, Xin Rui, who had maintained a facade of understanding towards Lin Yang, angrily tore up her movie ticket. Mi Qiao later recorded in her journal on March 6, 2005, that it was her first time watching a full movie in a cinema, and she did it with "a big fool."
