My Dear GuardianĀ Episode 14 Recap
> My Dear GuardianĀ Recap
Police suspected Zhuo Ran was involved in an assault on Mi Gu and sent officers to question them separately. As he spoke with Mi Gu, Zhuo Ran deliberately embraced her and discreetly placed his gun into her bag. The police searched Zhuo Ran but found nothing.
When police then questioned Mi Gu about the contents of her heavy bag, she claimed it contained only her camera and work-related items, choosing to protect Zhuo Ran and not reveal the weapon she knew was there. Later, a visibly distressed Mi Gu was found by Xia Chu, to whom she explained that her relationship with Zhuo Ran was purely professional.
Xia Chu shared her own feelings about Zhuo Ran, admitting to a lingering, unexplainable sense of nostalgia for a past that had truly happened, rather than for the man himself. She affirmed that her story with Zhuo Ran had ended and encouraged Mi Gu to pursue happiness with him if he genuinely made her feel that way, emphasizing that her friendship with Mi Gu was more profound than any romantic relationship.
Shortly after, Xia Chu and Mi Gu encountered Zhuo Ran, who immediately dismissed Mi Gu to confront Xia Chu. He anxiously asked if she had taken the tranquilizers he had Mi Gu swap for her. Zhuo Ran explained that his company had collaborated with a pharmaceutical firm to develop Chinese medicine hypnotics using 3D printing technology, but the first batch contained an excessive amount of birthwort, which could lead to kidney or liver failure with prolonged use.
He claimed his assistant had mistakenly swapped the wrong batch, which was meant for internal destruction. Xia Chu grew angry, stating that if Liang Muze's health were affected by her oversight, she would never forgive herself. She warned Zhuo Ran not to make decisions on her behalf or involve Mi Gu in his mishaps, and to stop hurting her under the guise of protecting her.
Zhuo Ran apologized and embraced Xia Chu, just as the elevator doors opened to reveal Liang Muze and Liang Shaoxue. Liang Muze's eyes met Zhuo Ranās, filled with clear animosity. Liang Muze apologized to Xia Chu for the trouble at the airport. Liang Shaoxue then dramatically announced she was tired and pretended to fall asleep due to her "illness." Liang Muze carried his cousin to Xia Chu's office, leaving her there.
Later, Liang Muze questioned Xia Chu about her embrace with Zhuo Ran in the elevator. Xia Chu explained Zhuo Ran's account of the swapped medicine, expressing her belief that it was an accident and not a deliberate act to harm her or target Liang Muze. However, Liang Muze dismissed Zhuo Ranās explanation as a pre-emptive strike, noting the eight-year gap since their last interaction.
He then admonished Xia Chu like a child for running away from home, telling her adults should resolve conflicts without leaving. Meanwhile, at the police station, Liu Zhengmin, nicknamed Xiong, who had rear-ended Liang Shaoxue, confessed under interrogation to Rao Feng that the true financier of the sapphire was a person known as "Old Master," the leader of the T4 organization.
Liu Zhengmin stated that Old Master had instructed him to acquire the sapphire and had it transferred to the deceased in the villa, Sang Kun. Rao Feng revealed that Sang Kun, though instrumental in T4's development, had been suffering from severe kidney disease, which allowed Old Master to gain real control of the organization. Sang Kun had been searching for a kidney transplant, and the recent kidnapping at the Isaia Joint Medical Team's quarters was connected to him.
His murder was likely a result of internal T4 conflict. Liu Zhengmin admitted he had never met Old Master, communicating only through a middleman on a platform called City of Desires. The police identified the person who met Liu Zhengmin as Gui, Sang Kun's younger brother, Bai Sen, who attended the forum under the disguise of a foreign listed company's legal representative. A severely injured driver from Gui's getaway car was found and later died, but Gui's whereabouts remained unknown.
Surveillance footage from the sniper's building was also missing. Rao Feng then assigned his teams: Team A to continue tracking Gui, Team B to monitor City of Desires for clues, and Team C to investigate Zhuo Ran due to his suspicious behavior and potential gun transfer. Later, Liang Muze confronted Zhuo Ran outside the forum, questioning his presence at the medical event. Zhuo Ran retorted that his actions were merely proper conduct in protecting an assaulted lady.
The tension escalated as Liang Muze accused Zhuo Ran of swapping the medicine, telling him to stay away from Xia Chu. Zhuo Ran provocatively asked if Liang Muze could protect Xia Chu twenty-four hours a day, challenging what a military officer could do from a camp. Their argument was interrupted by Xia Guang Yuan, who questioned who Liang Muze was. Zhuo Ran dismissively described Liang Muze as an "uncultured" Special Forces officer and one of Xia Chu's admirers.
Afterward, Zhuo Ran drove Mi Gu home. She returned the "toy" gun to him and demanded an explanation. Zhuo Ran dismissed it as just a toy, explaining his subconscious reaction to hide it during the emergency, fearing police interrogation if they found it. Mi Gu asked if he had hugged her merely to hide the gun and avoid risk, to which Zhuo Ran insisted that in that moment, he only wanted to comfort her.
Back at his residence, Zhuo Ran faced an argument with Long Yi, who accused him of intentionally letting Gui escape to gain leverage against Old Master. The heated exchange was cut short by a call from Old Master. Zhuo Ran blamed Liang Muze for the failed operation, but claimed the incident allowed him to establish a connection with Xia Guang Yuan.
Old Master instructed them to find Gui, solidify their influence with Xia Guang Yuan, and send over Liang Muze's information, hinting at eliminating him during an overseas training opportunity. At Liang Muzeās home, Xia Chu was abruptly woken by a hysterical Liang Shaoxue, who was disoriented and upset about being there, complaining about a cat licking her face.
Xia Chu tried to calm her down, explaining how she had brought her home after she unexpectedly fell asleep at the hospital, but Liang Shaoxue remained agitated. Separately, the Brigade Commander, Dong Zhigang, informed Liang Muze that he was to lead a team for a week-long Central Asian military exchange training camp in Willick at the end of the month.
Liang Muze accepted the mission but remained troubled by Zhuo Ran's recent actions, confiding in Tian Yong that he suspected Zhuo Ran had hidden agendas. In a gentler exchange, Chen Mengzhen visited Zhang Yichi, bringing him homemade steamed cakes as a gesture of gratitude for Xiao Junās successful surgery.
Zhang Yichi warmly accepted the gift and asked her to address him less formally in the future, suggesting she call him "Yichi" to bridge the age gap and avoid making him feel old.
