He then expressed concern to Xue Lingqiao about being kicked out, as he felt he no longer had a purpose, having initially stayed to care for Tian Jingzhi during her pregnancy and then for Bai Lu. Xue Lingqiao reassured him that he was welcome to stay. Suddenly, Yun Zhen appeared, looking disheveled and like a beggar. Tian Jingzhi scolded him for his long disappearance, particularly for standing up Ye Meixiao, who had been heartbroken.

Meanwhile, Li Yanzhi's investigation into Hu Li’s social connections led him to discover that a former resident of unit 23, Bai Lu, had been seen with a protruding belly before she moved out, suggesting she was pregnant.
He also obtained photos of Yun Zhen arguing with Hu Li and even dancing with her. When Li Yanzhi showed these photos to Xue Lingqiao and Tian Jingzhi, asking if they recognized the man, they both denied it, with Tian Jingzhi and Feng Dongdong making disparaging remarks about his appearance.
