Bai Lu told Tian Jingzhi that maintaining their romantic relationship was just Tian Jingzhi's way of keeping a fallback option. Tian Jingzhi responded that while there were many reasons to want to marry, there was only one reason not to: not wanting to marry.

She added that she felt she didn't have good marriage luck, especially with their unborn child, Xue Changan, still on the way, and that it was better to keep things as they were to avoid further complications. Xue Lingqiao, overhearing the conversation, mused that his evolved brain might be great for remembering facts about astronomy and geography, but it didn't help much with emotions.

He philosophized that if he had a long life, an evolved brain, and could also control hearts by understanding all emotions, he would evolve from a superhuman to a god, concluding that people must have flaws to be rational. Yun Zhen, preparing for his date with Ye Meixiao, showed off several elaborate outfits, none of which impressed Bai Lu or Tian Jingzhi.

They found his choices overly flamboyant, with one looking like a performance costume, another covered in studs, and a third resembling a sophisticated stray dog, before he settled on an English butler style. Confused by his newfound seriousness about Ye Meixiao, after previously wanting to break up, they questioned his motives.

Yun Zhen revealed his plan for revenge: he intended to make Ye Meixiao fall deeply in love with him on their third date, implanting a perfect memory of himself in her mind. Then, after the fourth date, he would cruelly dump her, ensuring she suffered the pain of his loss for the rest of her life. Tian Jingzhi wryly commented that Yun Zhen had "completely fallen in love," describing him as "both foolish and malicious."

The next morning, Yun Zhen woke up early, eagerly waiting for Ye Meixiao. Her car, however, was significantly late, causing him great anxiety. She finally arrived at 9:00 AM, formally beginning their date. Ye Meixiao found Yun Zhen’s suit and tie comically out of place in the street stalls they were visiting for their "eating and taking photos" themed date. She personally removed his tie, and they began their outing, starting with dragon beard candy.

Meanwhile, at home, Xue Lingqiao found a strand of Tian Jingzhi’s hair on his clothes, which triggered a daydream of her beside him. Feng Dongdong, noticing the hair, quickly removed it, thinking it was a sign of his poor cleaning. Tian Jingzhi then asked Xue Lingqiao if he had any antique vases she could buy, specifically describing a size suitable for a study. When she addressed him as "Brother Neighbor," Xue Lingqiao grew annoyed and insisted she call him "husband."

Tian Jingzhi, embarrassed, struggled to say it, leading Xue Lingqiao to refuse the sale. Frustrated, Tian Jingzhi chided him for being stingy with his future son's inheritance. Xue Lingqiao then clarified that he wouldn't sell it, but he would give it to her, stating that all his possessions, including himself, were hers to command.

Feng Dongdong, present during this exchange, laughed aloud, explaining his recent excitement was due to his favorite TV drama couple finally getting together, leading to daily "sugar" in their interactions. He described the male lead as a "poker-faced arrogant guy" who becomes sweet after an "epiphany," and the female lead as "naturally violent" but who gains "shyness" after falling in love, calling it his "utopia."

Xue Lingqiao and Tian Jingzhi exchanged bewildered glances, likening Feng Dongdong's enthusiasm to joining a cult and finding the world of "otakus" incomprehensible. Later, Yun Zhen noticed Ye Meixiao never smiled in her photos. She explained that she rarely smiled or cried as a child, revealing that her nanny once took her for an intelligence check, unknown to her busy, often-traveling parents. Yun Zhen concluded she must have suffered from a lack of love.

Ye Meixiao, however, felt he was similar to her, perceiving his efforts to amuse her as a sign of his deep loneliness and desire to be remembered. Yun Zhen dismissed her interpretation, claiming he sought only pleasure, not love, as love was fleeting. He valued concrete happiness, like good wine, beautiful women, loud music, and all-night parties, over the "hollow" physical contact of loveless encounters, which left only boredom and fatigue.

Ye Meixiao countered that this was still better than waking up alone in a "cold, tomb-like" bed, longing for genuine love unrelated to money or status. Despite his earlier declaration, Yun Zhen found himself increasingly drawn to Ye Meixiao, his heart beating faster as she spoke. Ye Meixiao visited Xue Lingqiao to acquire an antique vase for her grandfather's 70th birthday gift, expressing concern about its authenticity as her uncle was an antique dealer.

Xue Lingqiao assured her it was genuine. He then indicated his intention to attend the birthday party as Tian Jingzhi's grandson-in-law, surprising her. He reasoned that the event, marking her mother's first reconciliation with her grandfather after nearly thirty years of estrangement, would be fraught with tension. By making himself the "main focal point," he could "blur another focal point," diffusing the awkward atmosphere and lowering the risk of conflict between the estranged father and daughter.

Tian Jingzhi, pleased with his mature and selfless plan, happily agreed to bring him home. During their date, Ye Meixiao began to feel unwell, experiencing stomach pain from the food. She decided to end the date early and called her driver. Yun Zhen was unhappy about the abrupt end to their date, as only a third of their planned time had passed.

When Ye Meixiao jokingly asked if he could do a magic trick to make her stomachache disappear, Yun Zhen impulsively kissed her. He quickly explained that his kiss could "cure everything" and reminded her to cherish their "second last date." As a sudden heavy rain began, Yun Zhen promptly took off his suit jacket and held it over their heads, running to find shelter.

Under shelter, Ye Meixiao recalled a childhood memory of a park visit interrupted by heavy rain, and how difficult it was for her to experience simple childhood joys like junk food and street stalls, due to her strict upbringing. She reminisced about her nanny creating a "secret code" for her to use if she ever encountered danger, although she never did.

She then reflected on a desperate question she once posed to someone as a child: "Is there anything harder than being a kid?" The person's answer: "Yes, being an adult." Ye Meixiao now understood that children only needed to learn to ask for things, and adults would provide if they cried or protested. However, adults had to accept that there were things in the world they could never obtain, no matter how hard they tried.

Yun Zhen, internally struggling with his growing attraction, confirmed her realization, stating he was indeed one of those things that didn't belong to her. Ye Meixiao, undeterred, sincerely expressed that despite everything, she was truly glad to have met him, deeply affecting Yun Zhen. His heart pounded wildly, signaling his intense feelings.
