Ye Qing had been busy with work, worrying about the casting for the company’s project. Lu Zichen told her to take a break and forced her to reconnect with her old self. Ye Qing used to love extreme sports, so Lu Zichen took her water skiing. Seeing her happy made him feel content. Ye Qing thanked him—it had been a long time since she let go emotionally like that. A water-skiing coach invited Ye Qing to go bungee jumping.

Lu Zichen, though afraid of heights, went along for her—and fainted at the bungee site. Lu Zichen woke up on a hospital bed, overhearing Ye Qing talking to another man. Unexpectedly, she was chatting casually with the doctor, who even added her on WeChat and suggested hanging out together. Lu Zichen was unhappy but didn’t know how to react. Ye Qing teased him, thinking he was planning to write a bungee-jumping story.

But she had work at the company and had to leave. Nan Xing kept thinking about how to turn her and Xiao Wudi’s story into a novel but didn’t know where to start. Xiao Wudi messaged her, asking if she needed help. He believed Nan Xing would write their love story and might ask him how to describe holding hands or hugging. Secretly delighted, he waited for Nan Xing to come to him.

The next day, Nan Xing went to work as usual. Xiao Wudi assumed the novel was finished and went online to check. To his shock, he found himself described as a demon in her story. There wasn’t a trace of sweetness—just a tale of a demonic neighbor named Xiao Wudi bullying a young girl named Nan Xing. He was furious, feeling that his sincere efforts were ignored.

Xiao Wudi felt he had to respond and personally wrote a story titled “My Hero Master” to remind Nan Xing. In his version, Xiao Wudi came from the Hehuan Palace. Nan Xing was infatuated with his beauty, begging him to marry her. After reading it, Nan Xing thought Xiao Wudi was delusional. It had nothing to do with reality—she had been terrified when she met him, so how could she have begged him to marry her?

Xiao Wudi didn’t believe her, convinced she once clung to him with indecent words. The two had different writing directions. Xiao Wudi demanded Nan Xing get his approval before publishing her story. Nan Xing had to make sure he didn’t find out she wrote him as the demon neighbor. Xiao Wudi couldn’t sleep all night, wondering why Nan Xing feared him so much. He asked Sisi if someone could be infatuated with someone they hated.

Sisi’s answer disappointed him—she said Nan Xing had swooned over many people before but didn’t seem to have truly liked anyone. Just when he thought all hope was lost, Sisi added that she thought Nan Xing’s type was the gentle, refined, warm guy. Xiao Wudi took the hint and decided to pretend to be the type Sisi described. He sincerely invited Nan Xing to discuss the novel plot and was so gentle that even his messages seemed strange.

Nan Xing wondered if he had taken the wrong medicine and told him to wait until evening. A doctor came to the company to return Ye Qing’s keys and invited her to go rock climbing in front of Lu Zichen. Ye Qing readily agreed. The doctor mentioned Lu Zichen, saying he seemed to be pursuing her. Ye Qing hadn’t realized this and thought all their interactions were just work.

The doctor advised her to think it over—after all, Lu Zichen wouldn’t have gone bungee jumping otherwise. Nan Xing returned home planning to find Xiao Wudi. When she opened the door, she saw him sitting alone by the window, without the lights on.
