Meanwhile, Su Mei visited Pipi, apologizing profusely for the trouble Pipi endured, acknowledging that she had been unaware of the full situation. Su Mei admitted to her own selfish motives, noting that Lord Helan had not brought a date home in over a hundred years, which made her anxious to see him with someone.
She expressed her desire to have dinner with Pipi before excusing herself from their conversation with Helan Jingting. Pipi’s discharge formalities from the hospital were complete, and she expressed gratitude to Helan Jingting for covering her expenses. As she prepared to leave, Helan Jingting informed her that due to the taboo triggered by his kiss, it was dangerous for her to return home immediately.
He explained that if they were too far apart, his energy would not be able to protect her, leading to severe consequences such as hair loss and skin ulceration. He suggested she stay at his house for a few days, but Pipi, thinking he was trying to trick her, initially refused. Qianhua learned Bozhong had been waiting for an opportunity to abolish Helan Jingting as the heir, positioning Qianhua herself as the next in line. Bozhong explained that Princess Zhaoyan had lived in seclusion for years, burdened by guilt over a decision she made a thousand years ago that led to the North-South dispute among the Fox Clan.

Back at her home, Pipi woke up to find large clumps of hair on her bed and a bald spot on her head. Panicked, she immediately rushed to Helan Jingting's door, begging him to make her hair grow back.
He acknowledged the severity of the situation, reiterating that her hair would only grow back if she stayed close to him. Su Mei later visited, misinterpreting their closeness and advising Helan Jingting to control his "intensity" when being intimate with Pipi, suggesting she would gradually adapt to his aura. After Helan Jingting trimmed Pipi’s miraculously regrown long hair, she felt a strange warmth from his cold touch. He confirmed she would need to stay with him until the next full moon for a full recovery.
Pipi mused about the complexities of real-world relationships compared to the simplicity of Marry Sue stories, where love lasts forever, and Helan Jingting asked if she would rather live in such a dream. It was clear that Xiu Xian was struggling with his feelings for Xiaoju, who seemed to be entirely consumed by her affections for Kuanyong, creating an uncomfortable "sandwich" dynamic between the three of them. To make her prolonged stay with Helan Jingting more plausible, Pipi meticulously rehearsed a cover story with him to tell her parents.
She planned to say that a magazine company was conducting a deep-dive interview on her, requiring her to live with Helan Jingting and other staff members at his place to understand her daily life. When they arrived home, Pipi’s parents were initially surprised to see Helan Jingting. Her mother, concerned about her daughter’s overnight absence, questioned him about his profession. Pipi vaguely described him as doing "part-time jobs."
Helan Jingting clarified that he was sensitive to light during the day but could see at night, prompting Pipi's mother to jokingly ask if he did "part-time blind massage."
