Long Yan, hearing Chenyue's soft murmur in her sleep, secretly vowed that after the three tribulations, he would never let her be taken by anyone else. Meanwhile, Xue Qianxun visited Qing Qing, inquiring about her cultivation. However, Qing Qing remained unwilling to practice, her sole desire being to remove the Meteor Mark from her forehead, fearing Xue Qianxun would dislike her because of it.

Xue Qianxun, noting her concern, decided to assist her, believing that only by removing the mark would she seriously study the Heavenly Secret Guidebook and pursue immortality. He attempted to extract a string from his Fleeting Pipa, a process akin to tearing out his own tendons and meridians, which would be fatal if completed. Though he failed to fully extract it, the painful attempt caused him to collapse.

Shortly after, Qing Qing arrived with a book to find Xue Qianxun unconscious. Shocked, she sought out the Immortal of Fate and learned the severe consequences of his actions. Overwhelmed by guilt, Qing Qing pleaded with the Immortal of Fate for medicine to alleviate Xue Qianxun's pain.

Despite the Immortal of Fate's warning that extracting a Blue Bird's feather was a process of agonizing, sharp pain comparable to tearing out tendons, Qing Qing bravely endured the torment and pulled out her precious feather. Impressed by her sacrifice, the Immortal of Fate provided her with the Three Pearl Leaf Tea, a special remedy made by God Gou Mang, known for its miraculous effect on meridian injuries.

Qing Qing immediately brought the tea to Xue Qianxun, urging him to drink it and hoping he would feel better. As she tearfully apologized for causing his suffering, Xue Qianxun gently comforted her, assuring her that his actions were voluntary and he would never punish her. He then openly confessed his genuine affection, assuring her that his feelings were sincere and not mere teasing.

This heartfelt confession deeply moved Qing Qing, who became angry with herself for having doubted and ignored his kindness, feeling unworthy of his affection. Following a victorious campaign, Chenyue and the Feng Army returned to the capital. Her relationship with Long Yan had grown significantly. With Qing Qing absent, Chenyue summoned Long Yan to help her wipe her feet, teasing him as he reluctantly complied.

She noted how Qing Qing diligently cared for her feet, ensuring they looked feminine despite her general's duties. Long Yan carefully attended to her, acknowledging the intimacy of the act as Chenyue revealed that only he and Qing Qing had ever touched her feet. The next day, Chenyue was practicing her sword in the courtyard when she noticed the appearance of a Star Halo, which she considered an auspicious sign.

She invited Long Yan to watch it with her, remarking that it was identical to one they had seen together before. Long Yan, however, denied ever seeing a Star Halo, claiming she must have misremembered, and quickly made an excuse to leave. Suspicious of his evasiveness whenever she alluded to their shared past, Chenyue later discussed the ongoing investigation into the events in Tiger's Howl Valley seven years prior with Uncle Zhao.

His findings indicated discrepancies, strengthening Chenyue's resolve to uncover who was truly responsible for Xiao Jin's father's death. Concurrently, Xiao Jin realized that the scent of the pills given to her by Han Xiyun was identical to the one that caused her to faint when they first met.

After Chenyue revealed that she had been unknowingly consuming Manluo Fragrance, a poison that offered temporary relief but inflicted greater long-term suffering, Xiao Jin's suspicions of Han Xiyun solidified, realizing her father's death was tied to this deceit. Meanwhile, Han Xiyun was furious upon learning of Chenyue's unharmed return to Wind City. When Xiao Jin arrived to see him, he ordered her to lead other dark guards to assassinate Chenyue, believing her now weakened.

Xiao Jin, however, strategically argued that a large group would only attract more of the Feng Army. She asserted that, as Chenyue's friend, her covert attack would be the hardest to defend against, and she alone would suffice. Convinced, Han Xiyun urged her to leave immediately. Before departing, Xiao Jin requested one last drink with him, acknowledging the perilous nature of her mission and the uncertainty of her return.

Han Xiyun accepted the drink, unaware that Xiao Jin had placed a Life-saving Pill into his cup, intending to use his own treachery against him. Xiao Jin then confronted Chenyue, and their fight escalated from the room to the courtyard. Chenyue instructed Long Yan not to intervene in their duel.

Xiao Jin proved no match for Chenyue's skill and, admitting she had served as Han Xiyun's secret guard for seven years, expressed her desire to die by Chenyue's sword, believing it was the only way to atone for her sins. Chenyue, unwilling to kill her, merely cut a lock of her hair, subtly implying she had deliberately missed. At that moment, Xiao Jin suddenly collapsed, overcome by the effects of the poison she had unknowingly consumed. Deeply concerned for Xiao Jin's life, Chenyue urgently implored Long Yan to save her. He agreed, but stipulated that he required complete privacy for the treatment.
