Luo Tianran and Yun Shu were having a meal when Luo Tianran accidentally knocked over a cup of tea. Yun Shu quickly checked on her, but in doing so, he scalded his own hand, which turned red. Luo Tianran noticed his injury and asked if it hurt, but Yun Shu calmly replied that he felt no pain. Yun Shu explained that he was born with Congenital Insensitivity to Pain (CIP), meaning he cannot feel physical pain.
He recalled his childhood, where his parents constantly worried he would hurt himself without realizing it. His father eventually left, and his mother struggled to raise him, going so far as to wrap sharp corners in their home to prevent injuries. Young Yun Shu once asked his mother what "pain" felt like, and she told him he would understand when he grew older.
As a child, Yun Shu tried to mimic others by pretending to feel pain, like crying out when bumping into a table or acting scared during a shot, in an attempt to fit in. However, his secret was eventually discovered, and other children started calling him a "freak" and bullying him. He remembered a kind girl who told him that everyone is unique and no one has the right to bully others.
She also advised him never to try to please others to gain their affection. Luo Tianran agreed with this sentiment, and Yun Shu confirmed that the girl from his past said those exact words, making her very significant to him. Noticing his still red hand, Luo Tianran insisted he treat the scald. Later, Luo Tianran visited Jin Xiaoqin, feeling a sense of déjà vu and a strong feeling that she had forgotten something important.
Jin Xiaoqin, observing her distracted state, urged her to go home and pay attention to Jin Zeyi, warning that he might lose his job without her knowing. Luo Tianran found this unlikely, but Jin Xiaoqin explained Jin Zeyi's precarious position. She pointed out that his popularity had already declined, and he had lost millions of fans after marrying Luo Tianran due to their contract marriage.
Jin Xiaoqin warned that if a divorce scandal were to break out, it would likely end his career in the entertainment industry. This news caused Luo Tianran to worry. That evening, Luo Tianran returned home to find Jin Zeyi heavily intoxicated, talking to and drinking with a dog statue. Feeling a pang of sympathy, she told him that if he started treating her better and stopped his "evil deeds," she would temporarily postpone their divorce.
Jin Zeyi, still angry about her previous suggestion of divorce, questioned why she brought it up, assuming it was because of Yun Shu. Luo Tianran apologized and tried to lighten his mood. Jin Zeyi then became serious and made her swear that her desire for divorce was not related to Yun Shu, which she calmly did.
Luo Tianran admitted that while they were destined to divorce eventually, she wasn't psychologically prepared for it yet, suggesting they cherish their current time together. Still affected by alcohol, Jin Zeyi childishly asked her to stay with him for a while. Meanwhile, Tiffany approached Yun Shu, attempting to enlist his help in breaking up Luo Tianran and Jin Zeyi. Yun Shu rejected her offer, but Tiffany confidently stated that he would eventually come to her.
The next morning, Jin Zeyi was visibly overjoyed by their reconciliation. He made a glass of juice for Luo Tianran, who initially suspected he might have tampered with it, prompting him to taste it himself to reassure her. At the office, Jin Zeyi was in high spirits, cheerfully interacting with his colleagues. He enthusiastically praised Luo Tianran, describing her as beautiful, kind, an excellent cook, and musically talented.
He recounted how touched he was when she joined him at the amusement park one night. Unbeknownst to them, Yun Shu found a rare Nick album for Luo Tianran, and she met him at the record store. As Yun Shu presented the album and discussed its songs, they stood closely, and someone captured photos of their interaction.
Simultaneously, while Jin Zeyi was still effusively complimenting his wife at work, he discovered the online reports accusing Luo Tianran of having an affair with Yun Shu, a situation quickly misinterpreted by public opinion, making her out to be a "villain" cheating with his senior. His mood immediately soured. Later, Jin Zeyi waited for Luo Tianran at home in the dark.
Upon her return, he angrily confronted her with the online photos and demanded to know why she was with Yun Shu again. Luo Tianran attempted to explain, but Jin Zeyi cut her off, accusing her of secretly meeting Yun Shu even before the Mid-Autumn Festival and then feigning distress at his parents' house. He bitterly suggested she deserved an Oscar for her acting.
Provoked by his harsh words, Luo Tianran lost her patience, retorted that he had no right to control her, and reminded him that they were merely a contract couple, implying she was free to associate with whomever she chose. Her words further enraged Jin Zeyi, who asserted his authority as her husband and forcefully kissed her. Luo Tianran struggled, pushed him away, slapped him, threw off her ring, and stormed out of the house.
Realizing she was gone, Jin Zeyi immediately called Jin Xiaoqin, who confirmed Luo Tianran was not with her or Lin Che and was not answering her phone. Worried, Jin Xiaoqin and Lin Che went to the hospital to find Yun Shu, informing him that Luo Tianran was missing and upset about the leaked photos. Yun Shu rushed out to search for her, while Jin Zeyi was also driving around frantically looking.
Luo Tianran was eventually found late at night by Yun Shu, not by the Jin Zeyi she had anticipated. She was sitting alone in the Western restaurant where she worked, as it was closed and empty. Yun Shu called her name and then took her away, offering her a place to stay. By the time Jin Zeyi arrived at the restaurant, it was deserted.
