After signing in for a computer contest with his friend Zhou Zhou, Lu Jing spots a barbecue shop offering a Box Spirit doll as a prize for finishing a plate of roasted durians within a set time. Despite finding the durian repulsive, Lu Jing forces himself to eat it for the doll. Failing to finish in time, he resorts to acting cute to charm the staff into giving him the prize.
Observing his efforts, Zhou Zhou teases him, suggesting Lu Jing is in love and has come to Guangzhou for an online dating meetup. Meanwhile, Liang Chen encounters her cold and distant former friend, Ma Shanshan, at a television studio. When Ma Shanshan's assistant asks for Liang Chen's autograph, Ma Shanshan coldly dismisses the request, claiming they aren't familiar with each other.
Shortly after, Sun Binyu, who had followed Ma Shanshan to Guangzhou after discovering she'd left her previous location, arrives at the taping as a "lucky audience member." The host challenges a volunteer to princess-carry Ma Shanshan for ten squats. After an awkward silence with no volunteers, Sun Binyu steps up. He struggles immensely, even tearing his pants, but completes the challenge.
Ma Shanshan remains indifferent, leaving without a word and later ignoring his calls, even as he explains he snuck away from his own film set to see her. Back at his hotel, Lu Jing sends Liang Chen a picture of the Box Spirit doll, remarking on its resemblance to her.
Zhou Zhou peeks at his phone and teases him about "Little Box," his gaming partner, prompting Lu Jing to admit he knows nothing about her, not even her name or age. Lu Jing then has Liang Chen's assistant, He Ye, retrieve a package for him, which contains a rare, non-for-sale promotional album signed by Liang Chen. This sparks a realization in Lu Jing: only the singer, her staff, or someone very close to her would have such an item.
He connects this with the fact that "Little Box's" location has mirrored Liang Chen's, from Shanghai to Guangzhou. Convinced they are the same person, he messages her directly asking who she really is, leaving her flustered. To deflect his questions, Liang Chen suggests they play their game, "Beautiful Soul." They both head to internet cafes; Lu Jing sits in the main hall, and Liang Chen, after failing to secure a private room, finds a corner seat nearby.
In the game, Liang Chen, unaware of his identity, praises her partner, "Herman," for his skill and cute personality. Lu Jing downplays the compliments and even sings a few lines of her song to her over voice chat. Their game is suddenly interrupted when the voice of a delivery person shouting an order for "fish-flavored shredded pork rice" echoes through both of their headsets, revealing they are in the same cafe.
