She then embraced Liu Yiqing, thanking her for believing in her and acknowledging that her performance had fulfilled Liu Yiqing's dream for their song as well. Turning to Ma Shanshan, Liang Chen apologized profusely for giving up on their musical partnership, expressing deep regret.
Ma Shanshan, in turn, blamed herself for abandoning their shared dream, leaving Liang Chen to persevere alone. Liang Chen reassured her that while the past couldn't be changed, they could start over with their music now, promising that everything would improve. Later, Liang Chen embraced Lu Jing. A flashback to the night before the competition revealed Lu Jing jumping into cold water to retrieve Liang Chen's music sheets, refusing to let her give up on her dream.
He encouraged her by comparing her perseverance in gaming to Edison's relentless experiments, urging her not to surrender and reminding her that unlike software, life offers no reinstallation after quitting. Back in the present, Liang Chen confessed she had lied about her gaming resilience, admitting she had rebooted eight times, not six, but credited Lu Jing for giving her the strength to continue.
Lu Jing playfully teased her for winning the competition despite her bet that she would lose to him. Separately, seeing Ma Shanshan's happy mood after Liang Chen's victory, Sun Binyu offered her a ride home, which she accepted to his delight. Before their trip, Ke Ke urged Liang Chen to pack a "sexy dress" for her date with Lu Jing.
Liang Chen dismissed the idea, insisting her relationship with Lu Jing was "pure," but then privately debated which outfit to choose. Lu Jing called, saying he was thinking of her and wanted to see her immediately. They then embarked on a night tour of their university campus, where Liang Chen showed him her old classroom and the back-row seat where she used to nap during her "An Introduction to Art" class, exhausted from writing songs all night.
As they walked through the woods by the lake, Liang Chen playfully asked if their late-night stroll felt clandestine, and they decided to continue their walk away from the main road. During their walk, they stumbled upon Gu Fei Ming desperately trying to appease an angry Qi Qi.
She listed their incompatibilities: her love for Beethoven versus his for folk performances, her appreciation for Van Gogh versus his for Shin Chan, and her admiration for writer Sanmao, whom he mistook for a military figure. Qi Qi declared the distance between them too great, but Gu Fei Ming cited Lu Jing and Liang Chen as an example of an unlikely couple that works.
He then confessed that he had lied about being sick to get out of the game, blaming Lu Jing for playing too well and forcing his hand. At that moment, Lu Jing and Liang Chen revealed themselves, startling Gu Fei Ming. He wondered aloud if he was hallucinating, and after Lu Jing commented that Gu Fei Ming was cute, Liang Chen retorted that he was "stupid, not cute."
Soon after, Gu Fei Ming's friends found him, encouraging him not to despair over Qi Qi and offering to take him to the hospital. Lu Jing and Liang Chen traveled to their getaway destination, where Lu Jing playfully remarked that their comfortable bed was "not as good as you." Meanwhile, Sun Binyu took Ma Shanshan on a picnic, noting that it was the first time she had worn makeup for a private outing with him.
He then played a pre-recorded confession of his admiration for her, pretending it was the radio, which she dismissed as silly. Despite a forecast for a sunny day, a sudden downpour interrupted their picnic. Sun Binyu rushed to pack up, getting soaked while ensuring Ma Shanshan was sheltered in the car. He brushed off her concern, flexing his muscles to show his resilience.
Ma Shanshan then tenderly removed a piece of paper from his hair, and as they prepared to leave, she reached over to fasten his seatbelt for him. Later, Lu Jing and Liang Chen decided to draw each other's portraits. Lu Jing playfully demanded three kisses to boost his "energy" and inspiration, promising to become as good as Van Gogh, and Liang Chen obliged. However, her "impressionistic" portrait of him featured a square face.
In turn, Lu Jing's drawing of her was equally unflattering, depicting her with a large, square face, and they both burst out laughing. That night in their hotel room, Liang Chen debated which outfit to wear, wondering whether Lu Jing would prefer a "pure" or a "sexy" look. As she finished brushing her teeth, Lu Jing entered the room and commented on her pleasant scent, making her nervous.
